  1. I auditioned for Bernie Torme. I knew the singer and had played with the drummer a lot. I thought the songs weren't very good and didnt get the job. I went to see the line up and the bass player wasn't very good. 'I wanted him because his brother was going to manage us' said Bernie. I gave up there and then and have enjoyed being a weekend warrior ever since
  2. I thought the tuners would have Fender on the back plates I think this bass really needs to come apart to determine the originality. Potential buyers will be asking all sorts but it looks bloomin fabulous. My mate has one that has been gigged to destruction and it has mojo and more mojo but very little is original, new pups, pickguard, pots etc would be good to get the plate off and the neck, there might be a date code on the neck, find out if the pots are original etc
  3. I used SM58s for years, then ten years ago was offered 3 Beta 58s for not much money, but 3 years ago I switched to a wireless 945, which I absolutely love. The SM and Betas still lurk in my set up, if I'm doing a PA for someone else (Once a year I do this) I went 945 on EBS_freak's recommendation (and the choice of wireless too)
  4. I used to gig using a variax JTV59. This is battery powered but by using the Line 6 A/B box (it sends the output to an XLR for acoustic sounds or jack for the electric sounds) and a TRS lead, it sends power to the guitar via the stereo jack You need to remeber here, the A/B box isn't standard, it sends power up the TRS lead Using this idea, it mus be fairly simple to power an active bass this way
  5. Loving the Alien by David Bowie
  6. Bought a set of La Bella mustang flats from Chris. Easy and pleasant transaction. Great comms. Thanks Chris
  7. Yeah plus 1 for gig ink. He's also a forum member. Does excellent custom stuff
  8. agreed. My touring Americana band leader is talking to a contact at Sennheiser about using their gear. Ultimately I'll go that way I think.
  9. I've stumbled across this stereo wireless. How do we know if its any good? https://phenyxpro.com/es/products/ptm-10?variant=44218305183981
  10. I recently did a first aid refesher course it turns out our instructor caught covid and died. CPR etc................18 months off work. kidneys not working properly but THE BEST first aid course ever. A really great person. I hope she can carry on for a while.
  11. looks like quite a good idea, I only have an ipad for backing tracks and lyrics. It would probably work. I might look into it
  12. thanks for that info, I did think that would be the case. I'll get me copper foil ordered
  13. so the copper foil needs to touch the silver control plate. No soldering of wires to earth on say, the volume pot?
  14. yep, I've seen that, not sure how I'll do it yet
  15. I should probably shield mine, it is my main gigging bass now and I have some theatre shows lined up and wouldn't want any grief.# Will look up how to shield properly
  16. I havent heard any noise from mine (so far)
