Jeff Answered my call for an FEA Optifet. Absolutely great communication, a fair price and superfast delivery. Also some of the best packaging I've seen in a private sale, highly recommended π Many thanks Jeff you're a star.

Spent the afternoon rebuilding the big board it's been in bits for ages. Got some new bits to try now after my fusion bands brief Hiatus π EBS Microbass 2 - A/B box/ Preamp/DI/ Overdrive/ headphone amp and Effects loop. Very very useful bit of kit and great quality sound. In the loop I have all of the effects, so I can use them through the Headphones. Donner Deluxe Mini tuner- in the Link jack, it acts as a tuner out, as this thing was awful in line with other pedals. FEA Optifet - I had one of these wonderful compressors before and I knew it was a stupid idea when I sold it. Lovely warm fat, with a nice sheen. Tons of control, but most importantly it adds to your tone, this thing can sound like a Diamond Bcp1 or a Cali76CB which the switches (and I've owned both) very pleased to get another. BOSS LS2 - splits the signal after the comp, so all effects have compression beforehand. Has two seperate lines of FX that I can switch between or run in parallel Loop A - general effects. MXR Bass Octave Deluxe- I had one of these before and while I loved the tone and tracking, it had a noise issue. I really needed an Octave thst tracks well with active basses, and this was the best I'd tried in that application. Two different voices to mimic the EBS and OC2 Sounds. EBS Bass IQ - this is a great sounding filter!! Lots of variation with the modes and simple to use. Not as fat or resonant as some, but has a great tight/clear filter tone that cuts through really well. EBS Dphaser - As above but a funky, swirly, fat and very cool Digital Phaser. I love this thing Loop B - Synth Channel Emma - Okto Nojs - Octaver and synthy Dynamic Fuzz in one pedal, can be used individualy or combined for Dirty synth tones. The Fuzz on this is worth the price alone, it's in two parts first is a dynamic Fuzz with a subtle octave up past the 12th fret (very like the 3 leaf Doom) and has a square wave synth Fuzz which is voiced an octave down, I love this with a Phaser. Source Audio C4 synth- had one of these before, with a posh midi thing, only used 6 sounds in it π€£ Synths/octavers/filters/phasers allsorts in here, but just sticking to the six sounds this time. Got a few nice synth sounds in there incl an OC2 with Bitcrusher and an MXR filter model. 3 leaf Groove Regulator- I've owned the other versions of this filter, so gone back to the original. It is fat and organic sounding, fairly polite as filters go, but sounds really good with the Octave/Fuzz combos. Easier to dial in than its successors, and has a handy loop, unfortunately any pedals in its loop can only be used with the filter. Source Audio Gemini Chorus- another Gem that I've had before, I'd forgotten how good this pedal is. Six presets for all my Modulation needs it's got various Chorus/Flanger/Phasers currently programmed as well as a very synthy resonator sound.

After trying most of the Top Tier Compressors,I've decided my favourite is old school Optical and as I use a comp purely as a tone enhancement tool, I've my eye on something π As a consequence I'm moving on my truly fantastic Hyper Luminal. It's a hybrid design so while it's Analog it has a rather nifty Digital modeler in the sidechain. It contains models of three very different and great sounding classic compressors. Selects between three different models: BUS: Modeled after the Solid State Logic Bus compressor, its a very smooth and clean/Transparent sound, fantastic if you really want to hear your instruments tone. FET: Inspired by the legendary Urei 1176, I love this model, fairly close to the mighty Cali76 and has an energy and brightness, adds little colour to liven up a dull bass. ( this has an "all in" setting which is amazing, put an octave and chorus with it and instant "Sledgehammer" or perfect for "Come Together") SYM: modeled on Darkglass own Super Symmetry, it has a warm and Dark vintage vibe, great with a P bass It has a very full feature set of controls including a combined Attack/release Time control, compression adjusts the Threshold, and the usual make up Gain which has a lot of Boost. It also features a mix for "Parallel" compression by adding in your clean tone and a push button Ratio control with the most useful presets for each model. Also has a very cool row of blue LEDS giving full representation of the compression being applied. Under the hood is the Darkglass suite, which can be plugged in to a PC to adjust the digital sidechain to your taste incl a variable High pass Filter (every comp should have one) so it doesn't overly squash your lows. I may be talking myself out of this π€£ It is in as new condition and fully boxed with case candy, a bit of velcro, which ill remove if the buyer wants and comes with a USB cable. SOLD

Oh wow, I love that board! At one point my boards contained all of these (except the Octavbre) I really miss my old Pwnzor, let me know if you're selling it ππ
-
In keeping with the "Mini Board" theme, I took a few off the big board to make a small one for my NYE gig π

I loved this pedal, its so versatile, but does need to be understood to get the best out of it. I used it on a few recordings with an Octave and sometimes a bit of chorus, it sounded amazing and didn't need a filter with it. Very very dynamic pedal too, hence why it can get a bit out of control if you're not careful. The Tech 21 Red Ripper can get a slight version of this sound when set right, as can the Fuzz side of the Emma Okto Nojs, but really nothing sounds quite like a P&C.

I've had both Ander, although I didn't have the Effectrode for long (i traded it for a Diamond, the Basschatter, then publicly said I was a fool for doing it π) The effectrode is a gorgeous fat syrupy comp, but I found with my gear, I either got too much or not enough compression. As you know it has the soft/hard knee which means it's better at limiting than the Diamond. As I saw it the Tube was mearly a gain stage and not used for compression (like the Markbass compressore). Which did add to the optical circuits warmth, making it great for P bass, but highs were subdued. I also had weird feedback issues when I used the effectrode in front of an EHX Bass big muff. Also it's very power hungry (400ma) and it's advised that pedals don't go either side of the vents so is difficult to use on a small board. I had to power it separately which was a PITA π The Diamond has a fixed 3:1 ratio which I think is lower than PC2A, but is enough for most Bass applications. This pedal is really a sweetener and can't get as squashed, but it really does fatten and add sheen. You think it isn't doing anything, until you get rid of it, and all of a sudden your other pedals don't sound as good π it's also very quiet, and has much better high end. It has a little switch inside to remove the EQ circuit for "Audiophile purists" but I kept the (very useful) EQ at noon and couldn't tell the difference. The Diamond really needs 18v power IF you're using active basses, and has a weird polarity power socket, it ships with a little red adaptor, if you're buying one used make sure they've got it. Both of these will give you what you want. For me I'd go with the Diamond, but I use a comp for Tonal sweetening not Dynamic control/ technique plaster or "Stabilisers" as ive heard them called π€£ so it's function is perfect for. As we've discussed before I found the Nemphasis VTBASS comp does the same job, if you can find a 3 leaf Pwnzor it dies as well with more control. The FEA Optifet is my favourite ever, a great middle ground between a Diamond and a Cali76CB (to my ears) I'm currently using a Darkglass Hyper luminal and hugely impressed actually. 3 distinct and very usable compression sounds, although it does add a bit of mojo, its cleaner than the above mentioned pedals π I know a couple more chatters have tried both and will hopefully chip with their thoughts.
