  1. I love that! So cool and a fantastic finish. I've recently bought my first short scale, since I started playing 32 years ago. You've inspired me,to put a review on myself 😁
  2. Don't think I've put mine on here yet. Here's my 2006 Stingray 5HHin Honeyburst. This is an early run,so the back pickup is wired in series nor parallel. It still got that unmistakable ray bounce and growl but its a smoother/darker sound nd with the other pickup ive found it a really useful tone. They changed it to parallel wiring in 2008 I think when they released the Sterling 5HH which see the series settings. It had a Dark Tortoise Guard on it,but I've recently has a Dark red one made as I feel it complements the finish bètter.
  3. Used a GK MB210II combo for a while. 350watts in 2x10 speakers and 500 with extension. Sounds great, very clear tone, but using the boost volume adds a nice bit of grit. It has a really nice look too,not too modern. I recently joined a rock covers band with 2 guitars, so bought a matching CX115 cab, to get the full 500 watts. My one gripe is it's so damn heavy, so not sure how long I'll continue with this setup, but it really does sound great.
  4. Wow I love that! I have guitar version,I didn't know they did a bass. I wish the modern reissues looked like this. Sort of a Spectory P bass 😁
  5. Not as huge as some collections, but I got mine out of the rack for a family photo 😁 From left to right -Yamaha BB425 Vintage White (with a 2025 bridge) -Musicman Stingray 5HH Honeyburst -Yamaha BB1024 Tobacco burst -Spector Euro LX4 Ultra Amber - 82 JV Squire jazz Olympic White (with Nordstrand NJ4) Middle -Sire U5 Marcus Miller short scale Mint -80's Kay short scale white
  6. That Is a very lovely thing indeed!
  7. Hi Chris The T70 (like it's little brother the T65) has a dirty Octave up feature,to add presence and bite to a band mix (like an Octavia fuzz). It's also well documented that this octave up doesn't really dial out of the tone, when when set to 0. Tom's always marketed this as a synth engine rather than a standard octave pedal, and his speciality is dirt even in his octaves. For clean standard octave the Cog T16/T47 is the one to get. Trust me, put a filter in its loop and you'll get a great dynamic synth tone. If you want it looked at to be sure, I've used Owen electronics based In Manchester. Hes very good with Analog pedals (he doesn't do digital) and charges a standard fee (about £11 as I recall) to look at it and correct minor issues, but more if needed. So it'll at least cost that, plus your postage to and back.
  8. The Stingray has the dark Red Tort and the BB1024 has the Vintage Dark Tort (which is a very dark Burgundy)
  9. The printed ones look Awful IMO! Certainly up close, it's what they put on all the cheap Fenders. So theyve offered you another not as good guard for free, but you've still spent £40 more, than if you'd bought two guards from Earlpilanz. That's rubbish,if you hadn't removed the plastic covering, you should still be able to return for a refund. If you bought on online does DSR not apply in this situation?
  10. Tim doesn't do Tortoise, his graphics and solid stuff is good, but no Bevel.
  11. Yes I've recently used Brian Pilanz (earlpilanz on ebay) and he's got a few shades of Celluloid Tortoise. I had contacted Tiny Tone but I didn't like their colours, and they came out twice the price of Earlpilanz or Bass Doc. I had a Dark red Tort and vintage Tort from Brian and my old Jazz had a Bass Doc. I know which type you mean without much yellow as it's what I was after. The only place I've seen that was Spitfire$$$$$$$$$ Below is Earlpilanz colour choice, I suspect they'll all have too much yellow for you. BTW - both these guards were £30 posted and I had them within a few day, including the BB when I sent a template, highly recommended. He also does little samples of his Tort on EBay for £1.99 (cheaper if you buy more) so you can "Try before you buy"
  12. I acquired this a while ago, with the intention of fixing it up and learning guitar. As with most things done on a whim, it's sat there with no strings gathering dust. Due to Recent Wrist issues means I've bought a short Scale bass, so I'm selling my Squier ST335 TRD Boxer Series Stratocaster- Black Made In Japan approx 1985. It has a basswood body, maple neck/rosewood and two fender Dragster Humbuckers,it's very well made as all MIJ instruments from thst period are. This guitar has been very well gigged, with lots of dints and scrapes and mojo for days. It's a road warrior, that's been played a lot and obviously loved. The hardware, pickups, pots, switch all work as they should( you can hear this when plugged in) however there's a massive buzz and it intermittently goes off. It definately needs a new Barrel Jack and the wiring done properly,as it looks loose from the Jack. It also really could do with a fret dress. This is probably an easy fix for a tech and shouldn't cost much to have done, I'm rubbish and soldering is beyond me 😂 I have just put on a brand new set of D'addario 10's though. You can tell it's got a great tone, and reviews online suggest the humbuckers are very single coil like in tone, with both on,it does remind me of a telecaster, very twangy 😁 This Guitar need some TLC and someone who will love it and give it a life again. This black colour is apparently more scarce than the usual red/white versions, I've looked at these online and they are selling for the usual MIJ money ( £500-£800), so id like £275 including a decent Gig bag and UK only delivery. Sold
  13. Just what I'm looking for, but gear to sell first 🙄
  14. Ongoing wrist issues means I need to get a short scale bass, in order to continue playing. As I don't have the funds to buy outright, I need to sell some bits (no pun intended 😂) With a heavy heart I'm offering my Iron Ether Frantabit Bit crusher/Sample Rate Reducer. This is such a mental pedal,That's also incredibly musical. It has two modes the first Degrade offers the usual Digital Bit/SRR and has a lot of variety. The Second Obliterate is a kind of a Digital recreation of an Analog version of the effect???? In short it's insane!! Many many sounds Available from both modes. Clavinet type tones/crazy Distortion/8 bit computer sounds/quasi Tremolo,Helicopters,Mad robot Bees, octave tones, experimentation yields lots of weird and wonderful sounds. This has had an issue with the DC input which I had professionally repaired. But also had a much better quality part fitted as apparently the original type used is prone to damage. He had to fit it on the side , the original has been repaired,so it can actuslly be powered from two places as the original still works. In Fantastic condition and working perfectly, in a very attractive finish (each ones different, but I've noticed Frantabits are often Black) This is a reluctant sale, and if I can raise funds in another way, I'll happily withdraw. No box and high quality Velcro on the bottom. SOLD
  15. Yamaha BB425 in vintage White. Features an Alder body, 5 piece Nato and Maple neck, with a rosewood fingerboard,45° angle through body stringing and ceramic P/J pickups. The neck is fairly slim with a nice wide string spacing so very comfortable to play, with a lovely Satin finish. I have added the Yamaha vintage plus bridge to this, which are found on the more expensive high end BB 2025/BBP35 models (these are over £100 alone),that with the through body stringing provides a lot more stability, which really improves the B string. The saddles on these are two way as well which give more tonal options. The quality of these basses is indisputable, easily as good if not better than some Fenders costing three times as much, all in all it does a fantastic P bass tone. It is not lightweight, but I'll get an accurate weight later. It is in good condition except for a few dings and a curious tiny burn Mark on the back of the neck. For clarity I did have an issue with the P pickup cover, which came loose while I was lowering the pickup, the hole in the pickup cover had somehow stripped and became too big for the screw. I wrapped the screw in plumbing tape,to make the screw head wider which held the cover down perfectly. Mind you it's white so is noticeable(see pic) I don't have a case for this, however will be very well wrapped and boxed. SOLD

  16. Just had a new Tortoise Guard made, which is a lot more red,so this is surplus. It's the original Guard from a 2006 Stingray 5HH,so has the thumbrests on the top of the pickups. It's a vintage Dark Brown Tortoise, with a Mint/Black/white/Tort ply (looks like a liquorice all sort 😂) In good condition,Just a couple of swirls as expected from a 16 year old guard. £35 incl UK only delivery
  17. That's such a lovely thing 😍
  18. Amazed these are still here! 2 absolutely fantastic examples of the ray 5, going for lot less, than some used musicman prices. Also a more trustworthy seller you will not meet. That Teal one gives me goosebumps.
  19. The pickguard tape works very well, it's more like an adhesive gel. Earlpilanz on EBay just made mine, so id imagine he kept the template dimensions. I had to borrow one, to send. Be aware my Friend sent me a genuine black pickguard from a 1024x and it didn't quite fit,so bear in mind if buying from Yamaha.
  20. Unfortunately I did in a fit of "I don't need that musicman sound" I then bought a ray 5HH🙄 Rita now lives with an older gentlemen in Poland, judging by his face when he tried it, I suspect, she's now found a forever home. He even agreed to keep the name 😊
  21. This is "Carrie" my 82 JV Squire Jazz in Olympic white. I've owned this bass for 29 years, and it literally been around the world with me. When I was at Music college in Newcastle back in 1993 I used to pass a little second hand guitar shop in the West End. One day I was passing and looked in the window and saw this absolutely gorgeous bass, with its white/tortoise combo, and I had to try it. So I went in an plugged it in, and instantly fell in love. I bartered a deal to swap it for a Hohner fretless bass and an MIJ Fender Stratocaster, with £15 my way (the bass was £160 😂) I went in the following day with my instruments and SHOCK HORROR!! The owner sold it to someone else for cash 😡🤬 so I had to carry two basses and a guitar with me all day. I was currently using an Ibanez Musician so not the end of the world. Well about 4/5 months later, I'm walking past and that Bass is in the window again, only this time it's been absolutely butchered. The Tort scratchplate had been replaced with a cheap almost home made white one, and worse still the lovely original Squire logo had been sanded off, leaving a horrible piece of ruined finish where the owner tried to put a fender sticker🙄 but it was the same bass. I went in and did a deal (£120) and it was mine, I fell deeply in love with it. I had the Bass Doc in Newcastle source an old tortoise Pick Guard and he put a 60s fender logo on and refinished the headstock (couldn't get an original Squire logo). I foolishly in my younger days, modded it,in my attempts to sound more like Marcus Miller 😂🤣 so had a badass bridge and EMGS in for a while,as well as a few different preamps. I foolishly traded the original bridge and pickups and tuners. I fairly recently restored this back to stock, with a CTS jazz loom/Gotoh reliced vintage bridge and Gotoh lollipops. I also had Nordstrand NP4's added years ago. I try not to use it so much now, due to sentimental value, but this bass,is very much a big part of me and I'll never sell it, every scratch/ding was put on by me. I'm considering having it refinished for my 50th in a couple of years, with a matched headstock 😁
  22. Bit of pickguard tape and it's nicely secured. I got this pickguard from Earlpilanz on EBay, highly recommended 😁
