1. "I do like some nice sax play." "Me too, Kim, but lets wait until the record's over."
2. My Vanderkley head is thunderously loud at 2ohms. I cannot imagine a band being too loud for it not to cut through.
3.
I get introduced as "Frank the Fingers" which made me cringe in embarrassment at first. Now I just laugh at myself and play along with the fun. Frank.
I'm not sure if "Frank the Fingers" is the name of a notorious pickpocket, or a dodgy bloke who hangs around playgrounds. Or both...
4. I think that I may be GASless. It has been quite a while since I lusted after anything (musical). This doesn't mean I have achieved some holy state of serenity, though, as I still have CarGAS, HouseGAS, etc.
5. It's always along those lines. In the past I have introduced the band in the same manner as Brian May on Queen's Live Killers.
6. Very nice, Kev. Love the colour.
7. Now, if the guy on the left could spell 'practise' properly, they'd all fall into line....
8. That's quite fun, but I wish it hard a broader range of body shapes.
9. AKG wireless mics. I have a twin pair which share a receiver. Channel 70 mics, rock solid signal and no interference.
10. Is this for real, or just a yolk? Or can you only use this for recording albumin tracks?
11. Favourite voice: Freddie Mercury.
12. My Dingwall is ultra versatile. I remember playing with a very oldtime group whose preferences ossified in the 70s. The guitarist asked if you could get an more 'classic' tone. Click to passive and neck pickup. Perfect. He looked somewhere between pleased and irritated!
13. Jackson 5 bass lines are the ones I consistently find hardest.
14. I once had an acquaintance who was in an experimental metal band and on, his 5 string, he strung it B, B, E, A, D to get clear, low notes. Apropos not much, my 5 string has a hipshot on the B which goes down to A and sounds clear enough.
15. Nothing special about this, but I owned a five string version and played it live constantly for 10 - 15 years. Nice bass. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/90s-Hohner-B-Bass-Active-Bass-Guitar-Thru-Neck-Steinberger-Bridge-Must-SEE/201546996752?_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140221143856%26meid%3D57b28d71e30f4aad9b0ab4cebb6eb927%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D7%26rkt%3D27%26sd%3D272181971226
16. It is worth bearing all this advice in mind with respect to laptops. They pretty much all have Lithium Ion batteries now so are quite happy to be left plugged in forever.
17. My wireless has a Lithium ion rechargeable and the charging rules are the exact opposite as they are for NiCa batteries. Li ones cannot be overcharged but lose power if they are run from full to flat before being recharged repeatedly.
18.
But you know... a lot of the time it's all going back to the idea that band members should make the contents of people's pants feel funny.
I'll consider myself too old when certain members in the crowd stop making the contents of my pants feel funny.
19. I'm insufficiently cultured to get most of the classical references but I showed it to my father and he was chuckling away. Thanks for sharing this.
