i have a few cheap basses and guitars and the quality seems really good my vintage V4 bass is a great bass good fit and finish and it has a lovely low action for what i paid for it i have to say it really suprised me ,ive owned alot of precision basses but i really like the V4 alnico pickup good machineheads, solid neck no gaps round the neck pocket frets well finished dont know if i got lucky or there all this good.

electro acoustic basses i had two at one time thought they would be good for noodling at home but they just seemed to get in the way 5 string basses have had a couple but nowadays i will just downtune a bass if i need it heavy cabs sound great but when i see an old trace cab on ebay i remember the weight of my old one and move along im with you on effects too i went through a time using them but i dont bother much nowadays

i had a CV strat which was nice great feel and sound but i agree about the bodywood it felt a bit lightweight i also have a 1987 japanese squier strat which to me just feels a bit more solid for my liking so i sold the CV strat no complaints for what i paid for it was very good fit and finish

i had a 77 P and rocked double denim in late 80s too

yeah if i had a roadie i would have a big amp, i like to feel the breeze of the bass around my ankles.

looks good wouldnt fancy lugging it around though.

I feel your pain,I bought a fernandes revival bass from a reverb seller in italy. I think it is a 1981 model and it arrived looking in really good shape but It also had neck issues,similar to the ones you described and the truss rod was tight I ended up using the washer trick and that got it straighter and to complete I clamped the neck straight and manage to get some more movement on the truss rod and now its got a nice low action and plays great was a learning curve but I really wanted to keep the bass as the neck is really nice and comfortable for me hope yours turns out to be ok.

my 1979 Ibanez roadster is 5.5kg 12lb odd, i like it as it reminds me of my 77 precision i had not sure if its the weight or the natural finish that reminds me of it though

most of my basses have a ding or two.doesnt bother me much,i'd rather they where played.

actually mine was the black fender decal and I think it said squier series on it.

I owned one was ok,having owned an early mexican fender also,im not sure there was much difference same machineheads ceramic pickup etc.

yes that would of been there originally,you can see it on the reissue jazz basses.
