1.
Go on, tell us you've ordered a Bongo now as well...
Yup! Will be with me in just four months! Special order, see. I'm getting me a case as well! best, bert PS, it's indeed a Bongo. But you may have guessed. .
 2. As said, too many LOLs etc. will ruin the flow. My guess is people know they can't expect any response to the funny stuff, and just expect it's being appreciated by someone out there. Fair deal, I think. I tend to post a LOL-face when I feel the poster or the post deserves the extra attention, but am aware this is just spur-of-the-moment, and in no way "fair" (whatever that might mean). best, bert
 3. Folks, Recently I started a name and shame thread about a Munich company called ProMusicTools. This naming and shaming was based on an error, and ProMusicTools became innocent victims. Allow me some obvious thoughts on this. First, if you haven't seen the thread: They offered a "new old stock" Music Man bass. I checked the serial number with Ernie Ball, and got a private message from Ernie Ball stating the instrument in question was definitely used, and that I would get no warranty if I proceeded with the purchase. Long story short: after a lot of to and fro, Ernie Ball have now written to me stating they made a mistake, that the bass was NOS indeed, and legitimately exported from the US, and that ProMusicTools not only were in their right, but also are a very highly appreciated, hard working company who represent Ernie Ball very well [NB: this is my condensate from all the mail]. Sceptics might say the messages from Ernie Ball are corporate blabber. However, reading all the messages with scrutiny, what translates to me is the liberating lack of corporate blabber. I received honest and direct responses to my concerns, and Ernie Ball were active in following up both me and ProMusicTools - who were quite taken aback by the whole situation. I am now proceeding with this purchase, and have also ordered another bass from ProMusicTools. I originally climbed in my fountain pen after reading the words "definitely used", and similar expressions, and in hindsight must admit that I reacted prematurely - before the process was complete and over. In a larger context, this appears to me to be a good example about how one must show the utmost restraint in naming and shaming - and really have all the facts straight. Don't do it like me, boys and girls ... and dinos! best, bert
 4.
No matter how fast I click I can't get beyond Wizard level .
Definitely a bug in the software. I'm having the exact same thing with the Bass Clef Great Wizard level. best, bert
 5. Hey chap, Welcome up to the surface down here! Cool story despite the sad notes - notes many on here do recognise. Not Leen though, as he's just starting to feel what kids will do to a man. Anyway, with 36 odd years behind you, you must be able to keep us whippersnappers hanging on your lips, I'm sure. Do tell some and teach some. Enjoy the site and the community! BTW, are you Equals QL or Equal SQL or something different? best, bert
 6. Hey Tom, Welcome form another noob (15 months or so). You'll soon see this site is large, and people are willing to help. Search and ask away, and within months you'll be a lot more resourceful than the rest of us. Enjoy! best, bert
 7. Bonjour, autostop! Bienvenue à ChatBasse. I hope you will like it here. Nice funk you made. It was inspiring me to try the same, but without the bass (I can't play the bass - I can only buy them). Enjoy! best, bert
 8.
Hi, I am the latest newbie to walk into this wonderful Bass world and thought I would introduce myself and say 'Hi!'
Welcome! I like you already. You seem to fit right in. If not, you can just change the BC mold.
present basses are a Squire Jazz that I've had for a few months, as well as a Shergold Marathon
Synchronicity. I've had a Squier Jazz for a few months too. What are the chances, eh? ......... Oooooooooh. Marathon: never heard about it, but I'm a noob. If it isn't readily available on Google, can you post a picture of it?
I grew up listening to 60s and 70s rock and prog (my overall preference), but I like most genres of music
Now that's talking. So you're not antiquated at all, but a dino like me!
accepting advice from my piers,
Hm. You're not synchronised with the Mercans, that's for sure...
Peace
Everyhting was perfect ...... but no, that wasn't good enough for you. You just had to ruin it with the last word, hadn't you? Enjoy! Don't be a stranger! best, bert
 9. Hey Alex, Welcome back! I may remember badly, but weren't you here in late 2011? I seem to remember the Alex and Lovesick Delores names. Anyway, I hope you join the banter, and do acquire the will power that you crave. Will power means discipline. Discipline means work. Work means money. Money means gear. Perfec!
Had a few issues with my head recently
It's virtually a prerequisite here. Enjoy! best, bert
 10.
Tom Cruise is fairly near the top of my list of actors I just will not watch under any circumstances.
You've got some serious issues, seeing as Cruise is not on top of that list. best, bert
 11.
It's not unreasonable to ask to be kept in the loop where your order is up to
Totally agreed, and as you may see, I did not write about that aspect. I wrote about the combination of complaining here and not picking up the phone, as if: - that is reasonable in itself - sh*t never happens - the bass doc is an enterprise with all kinds of systems to prevent sh*t from happening where in reality: - the reasonability is highly debatable - sh*t does happen, to both Bass Doc and Grant as well as you and me - the bass doc is a kind bloke who offers a nice service to fellow basschatters
"the customer is always right" / "the customer comes first." / As I've stated before, it was the total lack of communication from Howard that was the problem - nothing else
Apart from the fact that the customer often is wrong, I do agree with you here. It is reasonable to expect more from the bass doc than what he delivered. What I reacted against is what I wrote above: a certain combination of complaining here and not picking up the phone.
As for your last statement... FWIW, it's totally irrelevant (to me anyway).
That's cool for me, but as I'm sure you are aware, this is not about the relation between Grant and Bert. (For other readers: I know nothing about Grant, and we have not had any contact that I'm aware of, so there's no history here as far as I'm aware.) It is however feedback on how you portray yourself on BC - feedback that you can take to heart or throw away. As such it can't be "totally" irrelevant, even if you think it's nonsense from an idiot. OK, maybe just in that case. .. .. .. .. .. ............ Oooooh! BTW, I wish upon you no harm. best, bert
 12. That was a fanned fretless then?
 13.
I followed that contact up with an offer of my phone number so that Howard could give me a call (seeing as I'm the one waiting for my goods, I didn't think I was being unreasonable).
Well, you had read the thread, and had been quite vocal on it. From the looks of it, you did even understand what was being told to you. When you then decide you can keep nagging on BC but can't be arsed to pick up the phone, and the doc has to call you instead, calling it "not unreasonable", then I would say that you're not very active in contributing to the solution. Don't know about the law where you live, but here in Norway, the customer is legally bound to be a part of the solution rather than a part of the problem (though admittedly, some customers "don't know" that law). This thread taught me to trust in dealing with the doc - not with you. best, bert
 14. Hi Tomas, Welcome to BassChat, even though in my experience Lithuanian people get very grumpy when you spy at them with binoculars. Dunno if every Lithuanian person is like that, but my beautiful young Lithuanian neighbour certainly is. Then again, she plays the cello, so maybe it's a cellist thing, Idunno. Anyway, enjoy the conversation! best, bert
 15. Hey Paul, Now let's see, shall we? Paul: Good bass: Good - I own one too, so you know it's good. Crusades: Good StingRay w. 3EQ: Good - see my sig for evidence marketplace: Good cats: Good - see my avatar for evidence weight lifting: Good De Niro: Good So that leaves "25" + "Glasgow" = "Tea Boy": Not good. Go away! Buy the rig, enjoy the site, don' be no stranger boy. best, bert
 16. Hello, good Doctor, Welcome to the fold! I hope you'll like what the fold has to offer. Enjoy! best, bert
 17.
you are more then welcome to try my basses and if you like the way the sound ill do the same for you for free
Now that's a generous offer! (Probably way too generous, but I thank you on behalf of almost all of the 21,000 BC members. ) best, bert
 18.
A few weeks back, I watched the Classic Album show about Peter Gabriel's So. During a chat with Tony Levin, he played the Sledgehammer line on his Cutlass & said there was an octave pedal on it. It sounded so good! Guess what I've just bought?
"So" and a Cutlass. Plus Tony's fingers of course.
 19.
TBH I was being sarcastic - wouldn't consider either of those two basses to be particularly pretty...
I hope you meant "ironic". best, bert
 20.
Nice! And plenty of flexibility!
Exactly. Also points out a clear way forward, I suppose, when I've tested them for some time. Congrats on the phablet. I'd like to try a thing like that. best, bert
 21.
That's awesome! If they made a 5-string version I'd be out there rocking it like a bastard.
Of course it's awesome. Had I been even filthier rich, I'd be all over it and attempt to rock like a bastard - no matter how many strings attached. However, pretty it ain't. Well desgned it ain't, unless "well designed" means that it was meant to be seen an lusted after by people who wanna rock it like bastards - which of course is good. best, bert
 22.
Ha ha ha...like your sense of humour
Thanks. Don't know what you mean though. Just for clarity: I really dig the designs of both the Steinberger and the Bongo, and have lusted for them since they were first released, but I'm not praying on my knees before them, so often refer to them as cricket bat and bog seat. That post of mine went wrong due to unexpected stuff happening here. But it's nice to know that something I wrote brought a smile on your face! best, bert
 23. Cricket bat, Bongo, Edit: Something happened when I wrote that, and an unfinished post was published. Anyway, what I wanted to write was something like: - Cricket bat, - Bog seat, - A Warwick, maybe the Corvette - despite and even partly because of the weird, but characterful top horn, There certainly are more, but I can't remember their names right now. best, bert
 24. Me using equipment to hide lack of equipment, the answer gives itself. On my forehead! Seriously though, for me it depends on the bass. My cricket bat for example is high up, and has a strap of its own that nobody may temper with. It's perfect right now. best, bert
 25. Hey SunEye, Welcome! You'll probably have a good time here, so dive into it head first. Interesting that you would help those in need. Now I am a noob, so I know everything, but you should really take care of Leen. Only kidding of course. Enjoy!

You forgot to mention you're from Sudder'n Wetsex too! best, bert
