Total Watts

 1. Hahaha, there's always a debate on what's nice to different people isn't there. Preference may vary... I wondered who would be the first one to spot that though
 2. Just to follow up on this one. What should have happened here is that a collection is made from each customer to send their amp in for inspection and it is returned promptly once "made safe" if in the unlikely case it is one of the tiny number of affected units. All of this is totally done at our cost. When James took it into his dealer, the amp was sent off to the service centre correctly by Nevada. However it wasn't tagged as a recall our end hence they and us couldn't locate the amp quickly. Really sorry for the confusion and it was totally our fault. As I've said previously it's the first time in the company's history that we've ever had a product recall so there were some teething issues relating to everybody being “on message” in the first 24 hours. Had the amp been brought into the dealer a day later none of this would have happened in this way. Nevada do in our experience have a first class service reputation and have always done a great job for us in the past, so as way of saying sorry for the extended timeframe please get in touch with Roy in the Store when you collect your amp and he'll have something nice waiting for you
 3. Hi Jimryan - only just got back from the States end of last week after the NAMM show and I never thought of looking in this section for posts relating to this... I'm really sorry you've appeared to have had some issues relating to the recall and have had some incorrect info/seemingly some poor service from your dealer. I'll be taking this up with them directly in the morning but, so we can sort you out quickly, I've PM'd you directly to help you get this one resolved expediently. Cheers Bruce
 4. Hi guys, I'm in Anaheim California for the NAMM show so not been able to look at this until now. Firstly sorry for any confusion relating to how we are handling this and that some may have been given the wrong info. Arranging for your amplifiers to go to our service centre for an inspection (to see if it is one of the really tiny number that may potentially have an issue) will be much quicker than getting them back to Denmark. It really is the best way to make certain that your amplifier is 100% safe for use. The Service Centre will then arrange a collection for the product directly and then have the amplifier inspected, repaired or exchanged for a new one as deemed necessary in each case and will then return the unit to you. The Service Centres will completing these inspections as a top priority so turnaround should be pretty quick. Also we must relate that by opening the unit yourselves you will absolutely void the 2 year UK warranty. Only products serviced by an authorised TC Group Service Centre come with factory guaranteed warranty on the repair and renewed warranty on the parts exchanged. Given that this is first time ever since TC Electronic was founded in 1976 that there has ever been a product recall, we honestly believe that this is the best and quickest way to deal with the situation. I also think we've done the right thing here to ensure nobody gets harmed no matter how small the risk is. Hope this helps and once again sorry for any inconvenience caused.
 5. Thanks for the question, nope just BH250. Can categorically state none of our other amplifier heads or combos are affected by this
 6. Unfortunately we have to announce that TC Electronic is recalling its BH250 Micro Bass Head. This is due to a small error in the assembly process of the first run of product that may have caused two nuts inside the affected units to not be tightened correctly. Consequently if the nuts are loosened or detached, this may cause an electrical safety issue. Although there is only a tiny chance of players experiencing this issue, we want to address this proactively since safety is of paramount importance to TC Electronic and musicians using our gear also mean the world to us! Therefore anyone who has purchased a BH250 from July 2012 until 21st January 2013 is encouraged to contact our service team in order to achieve a prompt resolution and to help get you back up and running ASAP. Please do this via our support channel to enable you to have your amplifier inspected, repaired or exchanged for a new one. Details of the return process varies slightly depending on location, so for more detail on this please visit: http://www.tcelectro...product-recall/ We are sorry for any inconvenience, but hope that everyone understands that our highest priority is to make sure that no BH250 owners will experience any safety issue with the amp. Only a tiny percentage of users may ever have experienced a problem with the nuts coming loose, but despite this we want to make sure that no one will be let down while on stage. We also simply feel this is the right thing to do and wish to stress once again that safety is of utmost importance to our users no matter how small the risk may indeed be.

'pretty low' doesn't inspire confidence...... :-)
Ah the joys of English language, having too much to do and typing too fast, actually "pretty low - as far as the industry goes" is what I was trying to type here In hindsight what I should have said is that I've only ever heard of a couple of instances of startup PSU failures with these amps, which based on the number we’ve sold isn’t a bad thing really. Gets one's coat... ;-)
 8. Just to come back on this one, I’ve also replied to JapanAxe’s PO. We did have a small batch of UK IEC cables that required a “firmer than usual” push into the mains inlet which may have caused an issue for a few people, but this was the only issue I’m aware of on startup and again our failure rate is pretty low. Cheers Bruce
 9.
Was chatting in my local shop today and there was one of these being repaired on the techs bench, I asked him what he thought as i thought they look interesting and he said not bad for a 75 watt head... to which I said ahh is that why you're repairing it then, he said nope that's what they put out RMS I've just power tested it now its repaired... So I remember all the fuss with the 450 heads being 200 odd watts and it looks like they're still manipulating things, obviously watts aren't everything but I'm losing more respect for TC each time they launch something backed by highly creative spec and marketing...
Hi I've been travelling all day so only had time to look at this now. I'd like to respond to the comments made by phatbass787. Firstly being in that the BH250 has been shipping into the UK market for less than a month, no authorised dealer would be repairing one themselves as we would be handling any repairs via warranty or DOA procedures. Warranty work for TC Electronic is with either our UK service centre in Sheffield (Real Electronics) or by replacement/repair direct from Denmark. Not only that but no UK authorised dealer is an authorised service centre and currently would have no need to attempt a "repair" due to the timeframe anyway. I've just checked the numbers (as I have access to this) and can tell you there has only been one incidence where we swapped the unit out for a new one at GAK in Brighton, the UK service centre hasn't even seen one yet. This isn't a bad failure rate for over 80 pieces shipped into the UK in the first month as its less than 1.5% which is way lower than the industry average. Secondly any failures would like to be seen by our amp development guys in Denmark as the product is so new so it would have been shipped to us. Thirdly, I don't believe any of our dealers who have had the product have an amplifier workshop on the shop floor either, so I don't understand how you could have seen this? Fourthly without wanting to get into a slanging match here, the 75w also isn't at all true as the amp has a 250w TC power module. It's true that with the APM engaged by design that a full 250w rating wouldn't be measured via sine wave on a scope, however that isn't a true representation of what a bass guitar signal does in our view. Hope this clears it up and shows the true picture. Always happy to help with any issues or queries on our kit (subject to me having time and being available) :-) Thanks Bruce
 10.
Got one delivered a couple of days ago to use at home, and it certainly sounds very nice. Makes a few odd noises at start up that I will have to keep an eye on, has a couple of cheap wobbly switches on the front and although the shop insisted it was brand new and taken straight from their warehouse, its certainly been used at some time and had the power cable missing from the box. The shop said this happens some times with TC equipment........
Hi bobpalt

Only just seen this as I've not been on here for a little while.

I'm really sorry you've had an issue here.

I would like to know what dealer you purchased your amp from so I can trace the supply chain. That is not what we would have expected as regards to customer service within our UK dealer network and I'd like to take that up with them directly, making sure that this doesn’t happen again. We've obviously only been shipping these a short while and you absolutely should have received a brand new unit at the time if that was what was promised.

Feel free to contact me via PM

if you wish. Many thanks

Bruce
 11. Hi guys The BH250 head is priced at £245 SSP inc VAT and should be shipping at some point early September. I had a play with one on Saturday and it is rather cute and sounds great (yes I know I'm obviously going to be biased) Unfortunately we were rather taken aback with how quickly the first two batches of the BG250 combo sold through, but (although it won't cover all our dealer backorders) a large number were shipped end of last week into the UK. Best bet is to have a check with one of our authorised dealers and get them to let you know when they're in stock. There will be more arriving in August. Cheers Bruce
 12. Hi basstech Sorry to hear you are having an issue, that doesn't sound at all right to me and from what you write sounds like a faulty amp unfortunately. I would suggest getting in touch with the shop you bought it from to get it sorted under warranty. Which store was it so I can keep an eye on its progress? Before you do that though where abouts do you have the input gain set? Best way to check this part isn't wrong is by plugging your bass directly into the amp, turning the input gain up whilst playing hard until the peak light is flashing, then backing it off a little. It's important to get the gain structure right to achieve the best tone/volume etc. I personally don't think you'd need the SansAmp in the chain due to the APM/TubeTone etc. TBH Apologies if you've already done this and I hope I'm not telling you how to "suck eggs"
 13. Hi I'm Bruce Davidson the UK sales manager for the TC Group I've been following the forum for quite a while but thought it was about time I introduced myself on here. Just a couple of points relating to this thread to clarify some things...
Yup looks like TC have had trouble shifting em, cant see crazy deals like this being done otherwise
Not at all. Despite the group selling products for nearly 80 years (and guitar based products since 1976) we’ve only been in the bass amp market since 2009. This promo is all about a test of grabbing market share during err… how can I put it… a “quieter” period of our company year We have already done well of sales on these but as we have the capacity it was thought of a nice way to do this so more bass players could benefit from our amp technology. Plus this has the added bonus (for us) of getting our kit out there in more performance venues, pubs, clubs etc.
Seriously cheap rigs! I think TCs main sales is in the RH/RS range, so maybe this larger range didnt work out?
No disrespect meant here Gareth but second guessing that here is simply not the case at all I’m afraid. As I’ve said it’s all about a grab of market share in a different way to just advertising. We knew that when we launched our BH range of amplification it wouldn’t always appeal to a large proportion the original segment of players who are buying our RH rigs – small & lightweight is the order of the day for most around here let’s face it. Couple of things to consider… Remember in a stage environment the vast majority of up and coming players who are looking for their next rig purchase in all honesty want something that isn’t small and is more “impressive looking”. Despite the fact that a lot of us on here who have gigged for years now want small and compact (I wouldn’t go back to the huge amount of kit I used to gig with now!! ) that still isn’t the case for a lot of players. Lightweight, small and high quality isn’t an inexpensive option. Not all players (even more in the up and coming category) necessarily have the budget to afford the compact lightweight high end stuff; which is where our BH range fits the bill here too. Hopefully this explains this one a bit better, the sale through has been amazing already and stocks are running low; I guess it’s only a short time before we pull the offer to be honest.
It gets worse: I called guitarguitar again this morning as I hadn't heard a peep since the guy on Monday afternoon said he would part deliver.
Sorry you’ve had an issue with Guitar Guitar allighatt0r. They simply ran out of stock faster than they could handle when the deal started. The company is certainly not going anywhere what with just opening their huge Epsom branch! In fact if you don’t know the guys behind it were the original Sound Control people (before the big expansion). I’ve had a chat with them about this, they are a nice bunch of chaps there and I’m sure we can sort something out for you to make you feel happy Please PM me your name and address.
