Just bought Jez's Peavey Microbass amp. He was a pleasure to deal with throughout and the amp arrived in perfect condition.

I bought Rob's EHX Holy Grail reverb pedal and I'm extremely happy with it. Rob was actually moving house, but still found time to answer my messages and to dispatch the pedal. I wouldn' have any qualms buying from Rob again and would have no problems in recommending him to others either. Cheers Rob - the Holy Grail sounds great with my Strat! Tony

Hello bass players! Please be gentle on me... I'm actually a guitarist but signed up a few weeks ago after being directed here when looking for a Vox AC4 amp - there was a chap on here (Cyrene) who had one for sale. Unfortunately it had sold that evening when I enquired about it. I have since purchased a strap from Gareth (walbassist) last week and I've been impressed with the content and feel of the forum. I've especially enjoyed reading the 'eBay Weird and Wonderful' section - I was in stitches reading 'Guess Who...' and seeing some of his eBay listings! As I've signed up I thought it would be rude not to introduce myself. My name is Tony, I live in Leeds and work as a computer programmer. I'm married but we have no kids. Like I say I am a guitarist but have had a very tiny experience of playing a bass guitar, in the early 1990s my wife wanted to learn the bass, so she bought an Ibanez fretless- because she liked how it looked! - (in hindsight probably not the best thing to learn on!) As you might expect she didn't get on with it, I played it a bit, but the whole fretless thing didn't do it for me! We sold it about a year later - her excuse was something about not being able to play it due to being tone deaf! I'm a huge fan of Rickenbackers and am more of a collector than a real player, I'm not in a band and never have been but I do have a number of guitars. I have a Vox AC30 CC1 amp which I swapped a couple of years back for a Peavey Classic 20. The AC30 is simply too loud for home use and playing through the computer just isn't the same. Hence why I was looking for a Vox AC4. I managed to find one and it's a cracking little amp - just about right for use at home! For those that might be interested the guitars I own are (in order of acquisition): [b]1987 Rickenbacker 1998PT Pete Townshed Limited Edition[/b] I've owned this guitar since 1988 and was actually on my way to purchase a Ruby 330 from another shop when I spotted this in the window of Music Ground in Leeds for the same price as I was going to pay for the 330 - I fell in love with this and so bought it instead. In hindsight a no brainer really! It really is a lovely guitar. [b]1990 Charvel ST Custom Strat[/b] I've owned this guitar since about 1990. I actually swapped if for a Fender Telecaster Custom that my father picked up. I hated the Telecaster, it never stayed in tune and felt like a plank when I was playing it. In hindsight, as it was a genuine 1970s model it would have been quite valuable nowadays, but hey I was happy at the time. This is a nice easy guitar to play but it just doesn't sound like a Strat! I got this so the Pete Townshend wouldn't get used so much. [b]1988 Rickenbacker 381/12 V69[/b] I had a mate in the mid 1990s who used to work in a shop in Leeds at the time called 'General Music', he knew I was a lover a Rickenbackers as he was, in fact that's how I got to know him. One day he rang me to let me know about a 12 string he'd just got in at the shop and wondered whether I'd fancy having a play on it. I did, fell in love with it and so bought it. I got it for a good price. The guitar is a real beauty, in fact more like a piece of art than a guitar! The only thing is the body is carved out of solid maple, so it weighs an absolute ton! Not very practical for playing stood up for any length of time! [b]1995 Rickenbacker 330/6[/b] I bought this guitar in 1996 after part-exchanging an Epiphone Nighthawk for it (the chap wouldn't take to Charvel ST Custom!). My mate who worked at General Music put me on to it. I bought it because I really love the Rickenbacker sound but didn't want to risk the old Pete Townshend getting damaged and I got it for a really good price so was happy. It was the main guitar I played until I bought... [b]1992 Charvel Surfcaster[/b] I bought this little beauty in 2002 as I'd always fancied one since seeing then when they were on the market in the early 1990s. I liked the Rickenbackeresque slash hole in the body. This is an original 1992 model. The finish is superb. Sound wise it's very thin, as you'd probably expect from the lipstick pickups! It doesn't really do beefy distortion all that well. It's another guitar that's nice and easy to play. [b]Fender Telecaster Made In Japan 1962 Reissue[/b] Now if I'm honest I bought this guitar on a bit of a whim around 4 years ago. You might be wondering why I bought a Telecaster after the previous experience I'd had. Well I was looking for a particular sound and thought this would give me it. It's a really lovely guitar both to play and to look at (you can't see it in the photo above, but it does have cream binding around the body) and it you can get some great sounds out of it, but for some reason it just doesn't do it for me... [b]Fender Stratocaster Made In Japan 1965 Reissue[/b] 1965 - hardly a classic year for strats but this is a beauty. The thing that really attracted me to it was the binding on the top and bottom of the fretboard (not very clear in the photo, but I can assure you it's there!) plus you don't see many of this particular model about. I absolutely love this guitar and can honestly say since I've owned it I have barely played any of my other guitars. It is so easy to play, it has a great deal of versatility and sounds fantastic. Don't let anyone fool you, the build quality of these Japanese Fenders is awesome. I can't praise this guitar enough. [b]2011 Rickenbacker 620/12[/b] This is my most recent acquisition (sporting, in this photograph the strap I bought from Gareth). I bought this only a couple of weeks back. I have been thinking about one of these for a number of years but haven't had the necessary funding. I wanted one because I love the Rickenbacker 12 string sound and the 381 is rather unwieldy. This is more practical. It's a lovely guitar, but I haven't played it a huge amount yet to get a real feel for it. At the moment I actually think the 381 is easier to play - don't ask me why... I'd love to add a [b]Gibson ES335[/b] and a [b]Gretsch Country Gentleman[/b] or [b]Tennessee Rose[/b] to the collection, but money doesn't grow on trees!! Anyway that's my lot and I hope you don't mind me sharing my collection with you. Tony
