1. I've just been through this when downsizing. I looked at Palmers and the Harley Benton Spaceship range mainly because i though they looked decent for not much money. I ended up with a Pedaltrain Metro 16 - it was a little bit more but has the 3rd rail which meant that any pedals with top mounted jacks had a little more protection (and i could also get a micro pedal, wireless receiver or power supply on there sideways if i needed to). All the 2 rail designs leave the top edge vulnerable unless you unplug the jacks each time - i just wanted to set it and forget it. If you switch the feet for some taller ones you can get a power supply underneath if you want to as well. Here it is.... 2.
Gents, this thread seems to have turned into a massive bitchfest. As it stands, it's of no relevance to the OP whatsoever. So please, let's have some sensible discussion and advice without the playground tongue-poking or the near-defamatory slagging. Ok?
A welcome and useful comment - most of the above has nothing to do with the OP. Anyway, back to the OP's original question - i have a couple of Barefaced Big Baby 2's. They sound great, are very portable and i have had no issues with quality control on them. At some stage i would like to try a Berg in a band situation. I find that most cabs sound ok at lower/home/practice volumes - its when you stick them in a band that you find out if they really work for you. The Barefaced trial period comes into its own then - as far as i know you can't send a Berg back if you don't get on with it.
 3.
You did me a favour, Jon!
Dammit, at least I still know where it is....... Just sold my sparkly stingray, bought a precision and it leaves enough money in the kitty to buy the Sub back so i'm glad you decided to keep it, I'm attached to my testicles (at the moment anyway) :-)
 4.
I had the same thing recently, was thinking of selling my USA SUB as I was after a Marcus Miller Jazz but after using the SUB in the studio last week, I was utterly blown away by just how good it sounds. Around 9lbs in weight and easy as you like to play, it's a bloody lovely thing. I was an idiot for considering selling it. I've also just purchased a Status neck for it which should be arriving in a few weeks!
Sigh......... :-)
 5. I'm in...... I've always dodged Fenders as i like the idea of having something a bit less 'mainstream'. Actually tried a few properly and now i understand! This Nate Mendel followed me home at Christmas... 6.
No xlr out and only a single page of settings (4 parameters) per effect it would seem, and that's just from a cursory glance. DEFINITELY Not an upgrade in my book. Not saying it won't be good though! Edit: only 5 amp models... Guitar version is £140ish
Our American equivalent site seems to think that further amp models will be available as downloads via the new software suite and also that the 3 screens will replace the 3 tabs of settings on one screen (did that make sense???)
 7. just spotted this....... 8. Just bought a Pedaltrain from Daryl Nice and easy, all good :-)

 10. I had exactly the same poor experience about a year ago..... Bought something, it conked out 3 months later, sent it back for an exchange, chased up after a week to see what was happening, still awaiting inspection by warranty dept apparently, they then insisted on sending it back to manufacturer for repair as they didn't have any more and wouldn't refund me as it was out of the first 4 weeks window, got it back 3 weeks later still knackered with same fault, squabbled for a refund after i kicked up an almighty fuss, they eventually refunded me. Wouldn't buy anything ever again from them...

 12. Needs to go so will post at cost sorta bump.....
 13.
That was the reason mine went. Absolute beast of an amp finally and physically. The ABM isn't far off it though
My ABM600 head is a long way off that weight!!!!!!
 14. 2 amps - Ashdown ABM600 and a Gallien Krueger 700RBii 2 cabs - both Barefaced Big Baby 2's 3 basses - Fender Nate Mendel Precision, USA Stingray 2 band, Sandberg PM4 unfortunately my GAS seems cured, i've tried most things and settled on these.......
 15. NOW SOLD THANKS evening all........ As part of my "Grand Christmas shift stuff about, downsize and general pooch about session" i appear to have a surplus of pedalboards. Or rather one thats a bit bigger than i really need. So, we have this rather spiffing Charlies Pedalboards C1 pedalboard including the soft bag. They usually retail for £75 new. So, up for sale at £45 and collection preferred from near Stansted Airport (could probably meet up Essex/Herts/London/Kent too) Its pretty neat as its dual level and consequently doesn't take up a lot of floor space. It takes about 4 or 5 Boss sized pedals on the upper level and the same on the lower one. It has loads of cut out bits to thread power leads through and is very tough. there is plenty of room to fix a power supply underneath too. Dimensions: 437mm wide x 340mm deep x 72mm high Condition is pretty good, its not scuffed up or anything, but the tiny stick on rubber feet have long gone. A trip to Maplins and a couple of quid will sort this but i've never felt the need....... It has a load of the spiky side velcro already stuck on it. A proper link is here for dimensions etc.. http://store.madison...small-410-p.asp The bottom pic shows a few pedals on it for size but they're not included or for sale.... Thanks for looking :-)
 16.
What a lovely place Basschat is. No-one I know in "real life" would be remotely interested in my new acquisition. Thanks everyone
Thats because us bass players live in a slightly left of centre universe where only we really "get it"
 17.
b-e-a-utiful. Im not usually a fan of sig basses either (I think theyre a bit fanboyish) but the Nate Mendel P is definitely one of my exceptions... Happy NBD
Yep i know what you mean. However, this could have been a Bugs Bunny signature model and i still would have bought it :-) It was all about the neck and effortless playability - its blinding and feels 20 years worn in. I don't even like red basses much (i actually went shopping with the intention of buying a white/maple Precision) but the colour is growing on me.
 18.
I'm curious about those E string detuner things. My initial response was "wow what a cool idea, surely that can't possibly work." So... does it?
They sure do - i have them on all my basses. A 5 minute DIY fit (especially if you buy the correct version unlike me on this bass) and properly useful. The only time i have had one giving problems was on a Spector years ago - it seemed to snag on the brass nut a bit so was unreliable returning to tune. All the others have been fine though.
 19. It followed me home, honest......... Went to try out a regular MIM Precision this week - came home with this instead :-)
 20. I went shopping a few days ago for exactly that bass (but down south) - a shop had it for £529. Called ahead to make sure they still had it (and its rosewood cousin for a comparison), yep all good. 2 hour drive on a wrecked M25 to get there, arrived and dived into a booth to try it out. Did it bloody work? Nope - hardly any output, doh! Tried the rosewood but i wasn't convinced enough and thought i would hunt about for the maple version somewhere else. Fortunately (or unfortunately for my bank account) they also had a Nate Mendel in the sale. I felt obliged to try it. its now sat in my front room looking at me :-) Enjoy your new bass - they sound great!
 21. Lovely bass!
