NOW SOLD..... [size=4]I know i'm going to regret this but i have a one in/one out policy and Santa just delivered a new bass so something has to go...it's painful[/size] Its £1200 collected from Essex/Herts/London - i make good tea and have decent gear so you can try it out (and i have a headphone setup for later evenings). I can meet in the same area and also Cambs, London or Kent by arrangement if you want to try it out with your gear. I won't courier it, send it abroad or take any trades of any sort - its a cash sale via bank transfer or real money only to help pay for my new bass so please don't ask.... Ok, heres the spec - [u]2001 USA Musicman Stingray 4 string[/u] Maple neck with matched headstock. The neck feels skinnier than the usual Stingray neck (I have a '97 to compare it with and this feels smaller). Its not SLO or Sterling skinny width but its not as deep as those ones either. It just feels easier to play than most Stingrays but doesn't cramp your hands up either (i had a Sterling and found it a bit cramped after a while) The weight is 4.1 kilos or 9.1 lbs - on the light side for a 'ray. Autumn Redburst Sparkle - I've only ever seen 1 other, a 5 string, for sale in the UK. If you search our American equivalent site for the colour, there are about 2 on there. This was ordered as a custom order for the german distributor and i bought it from a shop over there. Its an immense looking colour, subtle yet eye catching under lights and its ultra rare. I have had a John East MMSR 3 band eq with sweepable mids professionally installed. The original Musicman 3 eq system is also included in the sale - you can put it back to stock spec easily if you prefer. The East preamp gives it more warmth and takes a little of the aggression away imho - a bit closer to a 2eq sound really but with control over the mids. Set with mids slightly cut you effectively have a classic 2 band system. Cut the bass and crank the mids and you have the traditional 3 band sound. The East currently costs £157. A Hipshot detuner is fitted - the original tuner is also included the sale. Current cost is about £80 if you hunt about. Condition is almost perfect apart from 2 small lacquer chips (one on the lower edge and one on the top edge centre) and a tarnished jack socket. This was all on the bass when i bought it. There is no buckle rash and apart from the 2 chips it would be a 10/10. There are no known issues, the electrics are bob on, the neck and frets are perfect and the trussrod is fine. Comes with a gig bag, Schaller strap buttons and new strings fitted last week Heres some pics - some are done with flash to try and show the sparkle but its more pronounced under stage lighting. I've had one of these before....a lovely flametop amber burst NS2000/4. They are really good basses that get overshadowed by the Rebops and Euros (admittedly much more expensive basses but the cheaper one has equally good build quality and also a slightly less aggressive sound which suits some better.) Enjoy!

Just picked up a new compressor off here and treated myself to a Pedaltrain Metro 16 to stick it on and build a minimal pedalboard

Dunno whats what but i liked the second one best - a bit fruitier sounding. A wild guess - 2010 AM Deluxe wearing DR strings. Didnt like the last one - that was the one with the flats, maybe the Squier First one was ok but i prefer a bit more mid zing. Maybe the bitsa with elixirs?

You can also hang them sideways on the PA poles to use as side washes if preferred. We dont use the sound activated mode - its a bit too full on. And a hazer makes it looks twice as good.... All set to run their internal programs - fronts linked together and rears linked together. We tried using a DMX controller but i couldn't be a****ed to spend days programming scenes/fades and chases and then messing around with it on stage when i should be concentrating on playing. In reality its all fine on autorun and i don't have to touch it all night if i don't want to. Both types have remotes so i can change things if i want to easily. The Quads are set on an internal program to rotate and the VBars are set on a slow colour change fade. We experimented with a DMX controller for a while but couldn't be arsed with the faffing about programming them - this is just a case of link them together and switch them on. They come with remotes so you can mess about with them a bit changing programs during the set. The good thing about them all is that they give the effect of lots of lights but its only actually 4 units so nice and easy to set up/break down and very few cables to trip over. Its just 4 power leads and 2 DMX cables for the whole lot. The cash for 2 gigs paid for the Quads and i reckon we've got a load of better gigs because of them. The VBar's are just a downright bargain - think we paid about £120 the pair in a sale last year but they've gone up a bit now.

Get it down to your local shop/luthier Tapping a reverse thread hole in whats left of the screw will get it out but takes specialist tools And you dont want to mess your new bass up

We use a Hazer - it's loads more useable and effective than a smoky. Pretty good in smoke monitor equipped venues although it will set them off if you go nuts with it. It's pretty essential to get a variable one - ours has a good remote that you can set to constant or timed output and also alter the intensity of the haze. That's what makes it so useable..... And it makes a huge difference to the lights and lasers. Ours is a Beamz H1500 from Electromarket. New venue for us last night. Smallest stage in the world (only used half a drum kit, half the lights), awkward load in, dep geetard who had a really off night, i had a 3 feet square area to stand motionless for the whole gig (horrible, makes you so achey next day), punters telling us its either too quiet or too loud - at the same time! 3 songs in and i'm wondering how we can cut it short and get away pronto for the first time ever..... Nice landlady and crowd though - they really got it going. Anyway, played the full set, struggled to pack away with no space, barman came up with our cash and also a pint pot stuffed full of money - turned out they had a whip round as they thought we were so good!!! There was an extra £200 in there on top of our normal fee. And the landlady is gagging to book us for a load next year (thats a dilemma, i hated the set up but the people were brilliant) We thought we had a stinker - just goes to show you never can tell...

New (2nd hand) Musicman Stingray bass, could of gripes...

I've gone through the same process. And I only use a couple of pedals but it sounds so much purer and punchier without the pedals. Now I just go from a Sony wireless straight into the amp. The pedalboard consists of a DOD Milkbox compressor, Zoom MS60B multi effect and a Sansamp VT Bass DI.

About 30 odd years ago i spray can painted my 72 sunburst Fender Precision in Ford Gemini Blue and stuck a mirrored plate on it.......then sold it for £100 and bought a Westone Thunder 1A for £140 new The folly of youth - probably not my finest moment :-) But the blue looked pretty close to me :-)

I had a Roland bass cube - think it was a 20XL one - and that was ok. Didn't rattle, had good features and the dsp actually made a bit of difference. i just use headphones and a Zoom B1ON now though......
