    As part of my usual New Year rationalisation of my little collection, here's a bit of a 'Marmite' bass, I suspect... 1999 Stingray 5, in a very fetching pearlescent purple with a mirror pickguard. I bought it from chaypup last year, and it's lovely, but the older I get, the less biddable my gorilla mitts are it seems, and the 17.5mm string spacing is becoming a bit of a struggle. In good overall condition - there's a couple of minor marks on the front, a little bit of buckle rash on the back, and 2 small dents in the tip of the headstock. It plays beautifully, and sounds big and fat. The neck and frets have no issues and everything works as it should. The colour may not be to everyone's taste, so coupled with my wife's exasperation at the dwindling space in the spare room, it's priced to sell. NOW SOLD

My favourite albums by them are probably Product and Unorthodox Behaviour, but it's all going to be an eye-opener, frankly. Enjoy!

    I'm guessing from the shape of the pickup cases and the horizontal selector switch it's got alnico pickups, not ceramic... any idea?

    Bought a very striking SR5 from Chay, and he was a real gent - excellent communication, bomb-proof packing, and a brand new set of strings thrown in to boot. A pleasure to deal with.

[/quote] Thanks for that, nightsun - I should have mentioned that in the intervening period I tried out a RS210 and RS212, and they were amazingly powerful, but the sound didn't really float my boat. They just seemed to lack a bit of presence, but as I'm used to the ridiculously glassy top end you get from EBS cabs, perhaps my expectations were slightly skewed! I'll definitely be having a look at the K series though...

    I'm not intending to undermine the guy's sale in any way, 'cos £425.92 is still a great price, but I was astonished to see that GAK are currently selling these new for £745! Despite having downsized from an EBS 410 to a TC 210 & 112 recently, I have to admit I'm tempted...
