1. I quite fancy one just to stand in the corner of my living room as a conversation piece. I might even play it!
 2. This weighs an absolute ton, but I bet it sounds great. Odd price, still a bargain, though... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Trace-Elliot-1084H-Bass-Loudspeaker-Cabinet-1600W/321799338669
 3. There have been a couple of all-bass ensembles I can think of: Berliner Bass Ballett in the mid-80's, and Sweden Bass Orchestra featuring the late, great Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen. Don't misunderstand me, they aren't a reason not to do it, in fact quite the reverse - they should be used as a reference point and a source of inspiration!
 4. I'll bet it's lovely - hard to tell with only one photo though. Can you post some more please? Is the bass in the UK, or LA?
 5. I might have that. I need something to dig the garden with.
 6. Nice looking thing, and very cheap - for now... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-LATE-1970-039-s-1980-039-s-PRECISION-TYPE-ELECTRIC-BASS-GUITAR-JAPAN-KOREA-/201376895091
 7. I've used Interparcel in the past. Although they're a clearing house for spare capacity on the major carriers, they offer good prices and additional insurance. Just check the exclsuions! Parcelfarce's small print states that they won't pay out for damage to musical instruments, even if they're in a case BTW, so avoid them at all costs...
 8.
could be interested in this.... what's the weight??? Was looking for a Yamaha TRB1005... i suppose this will be quite similar??
Comes in at 4.6kg on my digital bathroom scales. I've owned a few Yamahas , and I have to say this beats them all, even a TRB5Pii....
 9. Special offer! £500 if you pay shipping or collect... valid until this weekend...
 10. Interesting. I can't help wondering what the inside of your right forearm would look like after a long gig, though...
 11.
did you receive my PM? let me kow please.
Hi Pierre, I recieved your message, and replied on 18th June. Did you get it?
 12.
It may be a ludicrous C&W nightmare from the mid-70s - but I am curiously & worryingly tempted - particularly with Thomann knocking it out for $380. Given what Ibby reissues are typically sold at, that's about half what I'd expected. Anyone know any details, like where it's made (doubt it's MIJ at that price) or if it's a ltd. edition? J.
It is limited edition, but to how many, I don't know. Made in Indonesia. If you fancy one, get it now while stocks last at £390 notes, I'd say...
 13.
What is the weight like on it?
Comes in at a shade over 4kg on my digital bathroom scales, and balances well too.
 14.
I'm glad to see your wait is over, must say it looks great. Am I right in thinking that it's cheaper today than in the late 70s,allowing for inflation.
It surely must be! I desperately wanted one in 1976, but I had to settle for an Antoria Jazz...
 15. The (Black) Eagle has landed! Arrived from GAK yesterday and initial impressions are very good. Plays really well, although may need a tweak to get rid of a little fret buzz on the G up the dusty end. Not that I get up there often. Finish and hardware 9/10, only loses a point for a couple of blemishes in the paintwork in the slot cutout in the headstock. Clear, articulate tones, a little barkier than a standard Jazz, but nicely full-bodied. An extraordinary amount of very stylish bass for only £449. In fact, Thomann are currently doing it for £387.52 with free shipping... http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_2609b_black_eagle_bass.htm

 18.
Isn't that a beauty? And Dave is a great chap to deal with. I picked up an old Trace AH200 head from him a couple of years back and it is still going strong. GLWTS. Geoff
Thanks Geoff! You are a gent, sir...
 19.
Hi, Is this still available?
Yup, still for sale. I've PM'd you.
 20. For some reason I quite like the curves and finish on this, despite the usual mount-pickups-in-huge-bit-of-metal-and-stick-on-top-of-sctratchplate-with-old-cooker-switches approach that you see all too often with 'custom' basses. Is the neck even original? http://www.ebay.co.u...ar/251967214475
 21.
Yes I know... only yesterday I was reading a thread somewhere about the possibility of making a clone... very interesting. I'm sure I've got a link to it somewhere... *rummages around* ...er, I think this is it... http://music-electro...rum.com/t15437/ Looks like each string has two single-coil pickups contra-wound on separate bobbins to essentially create a humbucker for each string. No wonder Wal basses sound good. Though I think it has a lot to do with the tone circuit, too.
Looks complicated, but that's one way to preserve the electronics from being copied wholesale, I suppose. There was a Wal on eBay a while back that had been butchered and the pickups and circuitry and pickups replaced. If you're going to do that, why buy a Wal??
 22.
Ahh... it looks fantastic! Choices, choices... some are inconsequential, yet others resonate through the years... Just thinking, a Ray with a Wal pickup?? That would be something.
It could well be, if you could find a Wal pickup. Wal certainly won't sell them separately!
