I haven't but I like the look of them. That kind of design would be perfect for an ERB. Can you imagine having that twisted neck on a Dingwall?

Oh but you can't a bass player in Shepherds Bush... ...for I am the only bass player in Shepherds Bush, you see.

I hope the unit doesn't colour the sound too much.
So if you're wiping the hard drive, presumably it won't come complete with your collection of scanned Edwardian llama porn? Shame.
Not the llama porn, I can supply some interesting grimey, 70's mole rat stuff on CD though. -
I've edited those posts containing youtube links using the youtube tags we have on the forum so the vid is embedded rather than just linked.

http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/artist/957438 If you really feel like pushing the boat out, tickets to the aftershow party have just gone on sale. I've got a pair for August 7th but I'm not going to bother with the 14th. He's a master of upselling, that one .

There are a series of free concerts going on this month at The Scoop, an ampitheatre right next to City Hall on the south bank. Friday evenings feature an awesome soul/funk band made up of session musicians called The Allstars. I'm going there with a colleague tonight - anyone else interested? We'll be having a cheeky wine or three while we're there!

I suspect you'll have a difficult job trying to find direct replacements for Peavey pickups because of the dimensions. You could get some custom made to fit but you also have the option of saving for a bass where the electronics and pickups might be to your liking.
Out of interest, what compression do you use with your GK set-up??
Nothing at the moment because I mostly play Smith basses which don't have a particularly aggressive top end. As a rule I tend to match my amps to my basses. I used to play an Eden WT800 and before then an SWR Bass350 but found that hybrid amps generally exaggerated the upper mid notch already present in the tonal character of the Smiths with the result that I couldn't hear myself very well on a noisy stage. I've found the GK's preserve and even boost the upper mids depending on how the boost and woofer/tweeter/volume controls are used and there's no shortage of brightness either. However I do also have a Stingray and Celinder Jazz which could probably do with a little taming. So I've been helping Dave Hall test a valve compressor, which I'll hopefully have back in time for the South East bassbash on August 18th. With any luck a few others will get to try it out and give their comments.

A funny thing happened on the way to the gig..
Kiwi replied to silverfoxnik's topic in General Discussion
I had a gig with my old motown band at a club on an RAF base in Hillingdon. I took my gf and she helped me pack the car. I took the amps out and she took the bass (my 78 stingray). I opened up the boot and loaded the amps and left her to put the stingray in while I went back to lock the place up. Then in we got in and drove off to the gig. When I got to the gig, I opened up the back of the car and couldn't see the bass anywhere. Apparently she hadn't loaded it in the car and couldn't remember where she left it. So I got back into the car and went back home but couldn't see the bass anywhere - either inside the flat or out. Then I hear a knock on the door and its one of my neighbours standing there holding my bass. He said he'd stopped "a pair of gyppos" from walking off with it after they found it on the pavement propped up against some railings. Needless to say my relief was immense but I was half an hour late for the gig by the time I got back and we only had time for one set. My nerves were shattered at the prospect of losing the stingray and being so late, and I couldn't focus on playing. The club ended up being near empty anyway and our playing pretty much sucked any how. That was the worst gig I've played so far. -
Welcome mooey - I use GK stuff myself, you must get a hell of a percussive slap sound with that set up!
Bravo was showing it not too long ago.
Wikkid! I think it might have been around series 6 when Abe got started - any chance you could have a listen and record any for us?

Oh, oh - I've gone and done it now....
It's not Dood I'm worried about. I want to know about this 'correction' stuff that MB1 mentioned. Will I have to wear the giant raffia chicken wings and Zebra-stripe shorts like last time? If so, I'd sooner risk the doodaddery.
Here we tend to use a fake fur all-in-one suit with little cub ears on the hood and a f*rt flap out the back where we can position the spankatron. Then all we need is a catheter, a floor mop and bucket, lots of polythene sheeting, some leather cuffs and a small rodent, preferably a baby mole rat as they like dark places. Dood loves it. -
So nice to see a solo that isn't slapping at 100 mph
In which case you probably wouldn't be interested in the incidental music. I did end up recording some of it years and years ago on cassette tape but I have no idea where those tapes are (probably thrown out) or even if they were playable after all this time. (Erm, not that I have a cassette player now anyway...) Say does anyone have cable access to a channel which plays repeats of old programmes like CHiPs?

Was part of the old Bassworld and enjoyed that site also. Looking forward to meeting some great UK members. The focal point of my collection are my Wal basses.
Blimey, so THATS where they've been disappearing to! Welcome back mg

oh yes, add me to the rick list. They're a bass I think is made for playing with a pick rather than fingers.

Yeah there's something so musically complete about just bass and vocals. Jaco and Joni did something like that on Mingus and Heijra

Most 80-90's Gibson basses leave me wondering why they bothered to cut the trees down in the first place. I'm not a huge fan of Gibson basses over all but that period seems a particularly pointless waste to me. Also my old Westone Spectrum 2 bass. Apart from that I can see merit in most things I've tried.
