She's a bit reclusive these days but popped up to receive a birthday honour recently. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/kate-bush-makes-rare-public-1830011 I think she's a living legend.

Chips to the wood are OK with superglue if you have a close enough base colour down first. If the wood hasn't been filled (normal with maple and other non porous woods) then lay some superglue down first, let it penetrate and dry to seal the wood. Then apply the colour coat and let it dry. Clean up any over paint and then apply the superglue gradually in layers. Not too thick or it'll frost over. It takes a little patience.
-
Or start off with nail varnish and build up layers of superglue. Then buff back flush when dry with a nail buffer from Boots.
As above. Name and shame.
Might be best if we avoid defaming anyone on Basschat if possible. Feel free to create you own website though. I would take all steps you possibly can. Serial numbers, photos of distinguishing marks, police case etc. Don't make it easy for him to do this. If you need a fantastic amp guy, you can ask on here or take a look at the list we have...er, somewhere. I used Jon Griffin at G-tek in Chiswick for all my stuff. He even made me a stereo mixer/power supply for the Alembic.

The oxidised patina is incredible. I don't mind putting up a Spector as an example. They have some fantastic curves and there's hardly a straight angle on the instrument. The grain on this one is on the verge of being OTT but I like it. The Fodera Beez Elite appears to be no longer made, but it has some very elegant lines.

It's been a while since I've contributed so... Trace V8 Museum piece Burman Pro4000HD (I have two, the other is more road rashed) Burman Pro501 (ex Lindisfarne) And some previous kit: Mesa Strategy 400 (unfortunately no decent pics of the Bass 400+ I had for a while) A cheap (but OK) Mesia, no not a Mesa, a Mesia -

My faith has been restored!

Thats pretty much it, these days. There's Charlie Chandlers in Kew I guess but they're very much a guitar shop. There's also Peter Cooks near Ealing but I haven't been there yet. Denmark St has a cluster of shops all within easy reach and some of them have a decent selection of pedals too. Best to ring ahead though to save disappointment.
Good afternoon, Kiwi, and thanks for all the admin and mod tasks that you and the team take on so well. I frequent a few forums (fora..?), and moderate another, and so have some sympathy and reference points. It's all a question of balance, it seems. Once one knows a few of the personalities posting, things become easier to understand, as the permanent cynics and eternal optimists have different ways of expressing their point (often the same...). The personal savaging that a few have suffered is, it seems to me, the worst aspect, and happily extremely rare here (Intl comes to mind as an example of how not to best please a baying mob...). I'm not averse to a passing reference to any political or religious subject, especially one in the news, such a s the pope's passing, or the demise of Maggie, but a jocular post should not then become pretext for a dogfight. In all, I agree with others that I know of no finer forum than this one (excepting perhaps the forum I mod for..!), and it is rare to see more than a couple of verbal bruises. I spent quite a while on 'DrumChat', but abandoned a couple of years ago as, despite there being several fine correspondents, the 'PC' line was too squeaky clean for me; no way to mention anything out of line with redneck USA. A shame; I'm still awaiting the birth of DrumChat.co.uk, confidant that it would be as useful to British a nd European drummers as BassChat is to bassists. I can't comment on the classifieds, as I have no use for them. If the forum stays 'as is', I shan't be complaining. If it slides downhill, I shall be in there with my little finger in the dyke, shoring up as best I can. Keep on as you are; it's not as bad as that (yet..!). Just my tuppence-worth.
Thanks Dad, our Dev appears to have disappeared on us (yes, another one). We still have plans for Drumchat though. Thanks for your patience.
The worst thing I've noticed is people beginning sentences with "So"... (Smiley face)
Do people have TIM for that?

Thanks guys

So its becoming a little clear to me with the Voodoosnake and Grand Wazoos threads and an observable drop in general silliness on the forum that there is some tension building within the community. Also, on the admin/modding side we're getting an overwhelming number of reports coming in for the mods to handle and not only can they simply not cope any more but they're being subject to a lot of hostility when following things up. I'd be really interested to find out more about what's going on. Constructive feedback on anything, including how the classifieds are being managed at the moment would be really welcome.

Oh, for goodness' sake! Beware the neck joint lacquer cracker!
So if we said (for example) that EBMM basses are actually made in [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] out of [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE], it would be wrong?
Only if you could claim that [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] your [REMOVE ON LEGAL ADVICE] at the same time as they [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] your [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE]. Otherwise there is a risk of [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] and [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] getting inside your [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE] and making you [REMOVED ON LEGAL ADVICE]. But I'd seek legal advice on that. -
Only old men who can't adapt, young things who STILL think vintage is cool and failed guitarists play four strings. Real bass players play fives. Play 6 or more..? Guitarist.

Ah the herd mentality, this is democracy in action. Its like trying to fight a mudslide. You can state your case but beyond that, let it wash over you.

Encourage learners, or 'Tell it like it is'..?

Either - just develop a bit of empathy and the right way to handle things will become clear. -
This was mentioned on the BC facebook page on Sunday. I'm excited.

There was a 410 cab on here a long time ago that had two 10" cones wired to separate outputs. I nearly bought it as it could have sounded good on a sub woofer. But I was looking for something smaller at the time.
-
Yes, I should have said the same thing but have been a little distracted today. The stereo, wet highs, mono dry lows worked for John Entwhistle too. But its a bugger to load/unload unless a one cab solution is available with separate ins.
-
I have a stereo set up if I expect to be using chorus or delays. It's nice to feel enveloped by the stereo field but when I've used it in a band setting, the lower frequencies have tended to sound a bit muddy in the onstage mix and its difficult to pitch. Better to have a mono stage for lows (say below 300hz) and stereo for everything above that. Low volumes on stage are great for monitoring AND TIMING. But getting the drummer to turn down can be difficult at times.
