I'd have that 2x12 combo in the blink of an eye if I wasn't fully loaded with gear already. I have TechSoundsystems gear (2x12 cab and also a custom made 2x10 combo) and it's all top, top gear in my opinion.

Genz Contour. Absolute no contest with the silly prices now available in my opinion.

As Lozz says, they are well made. I've never owned one but I have played through a couple and was very impressed.

I wouldn't rule out Schroeder cabs. Their 2x12 with 1 angled driver is very small and light and puts out a huge sound. Cheap by comparison to Berg, Aguilar etc too.

I have a mate who had never played golf, but literally within 5 minutes of picking up a golf club he could hit a ball 300 yards as straight as an arrow. Some people have great natural ability.

Take a look at the TechSoundsystems 2x12 in the F/S section. I bought the combo that goes with it a while back and would have bought the cab if I didn't already have a vertically stacked Tech 2x12 cabinet. It will be tiny for a 2x12 and will undoubtedly sound the biz, handle whatever you throw at it and weigh nothing. Build quality on this gear is second to none. That's my 2p worth.

Used to play You Oughta Know in a previous band. Fab fun but really needs a female singer. My current favorite is Company Graveyard by the Buddaheads.

Unfortunately, I think the main clue is right there in the main post. If you lend out a rig where the amp is WAY too powerful for the cab, then you really are asking for trouble.

I'd go for the Roland 120XL Cube in the F/S Section.

I think some people just love to see their opinion out there as if it is fact. Remember, we are in the realms of Youtube and similar with the constant assertions that Cliff Burton is 'best'...no, it's Victor Wootten... no, it's Jaco....no, it's James Jamerson, with all of it stated as if it is undisputed fact. I like to think Basschatters are a lot more open minded.

In my experience, everybody needs to set their level to an un-miked drum kit volume. Therefore the question is, does your pot basher play a Woolworths kit or a full DW set up?

In all seriousness though, I think the British public's magnetic attraction to reality TV and 'talent' shows is having a severely detrimental effect on the music industry from what we hear on the radio to how many punters venture out for gigs.

Robbie MacIntosh is just wonderful also. Saw him with Pino in his band around the time of his Emotional Bends album which Pino also played on. Happy memories.

Spotted both these Pumas on the F/S page. They are like buses - you hang around for ages then 2 turn up together. Unfortunately I was stood at the bus stop but didn't have the fare!

Cheap Schroeder 2x12s in the F/S section are small and light but pack a mighty punch.

As with the advice above, it sounds like the guitars are hogging your frequencies. They need to EQ.

Line 6 LD15 is a good little practice amp. Plenty loud and jam packed with features. Has an input for MP3 player or whatever for you to play along with (through headphones if you like). Plenty of tones and effects on board and well under £100.
