1. I played through one of these once. My heart sank when I realised this tiny little box was the bass amp and I really could not believe what it was capable of. They are expensive but are quite astonishing little amps.
2. Try this; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoG6iiwqAyQ
3. Check out Melvin Duffy with Los Pacaminos! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHU8454cSmk
4. Depends on your budget and how long you can wait (Barefaced). Schroeder do some really good compact cabs which are often available on here 2nd hand. I'd go for something 4ohm if I was you. Tecamp EBS and Epifani are good also. There's a lot to choose from.
5. Line 6 LD15 is a decent little amp for next to nothing. Has plenty of features and a handy mp3 (or other device) input so you can play along. Worth considering.
6. Fantastic little amp if you like the fat/warm sound. Love mine to bits and it has plenty of grunt too. Can't believe the price too! Paid £599 for mine I think which was still a bargain.
7. Markbass Super Booster does a decent job. Boost controls the volume and one of the filters cuts the mids and boosts Low and High eq.
8. I have a few effects pedals on my board which I run off a DC Brick. This has 9v and 18v supplies. I now have a couple of pedals which need 12v supply. Can I run them safely off the Brick and if so, 9v or 12v? Sorry for being thick - failed every Science miserably at school!
9. You hardly ever see them but the small Tecamp combos are meant to be very good. The AER Amp One (I think) is probably the best.
10. I have a friend who was in the US Airforce on helicopters for years. He has a hearing condition brought on by continual exposure to low frequencies. The main symptom is an inability to separate sounds; e.g. if he is on the phone and somebody in the room asks him a question at the same time he is unable to understand either conversation. Sound familiar? I know the description fits me to a tee.
11. Abba - Dancing Queen.......................seriously.....listen to it.
12. If you're Di'ing into the PA I'd consider lifting your cab up to improve what you can hea ras it won't affect front of house sound.
13. This gear is the mutts nuts. I've had all sorts (including Barefaced) and this gear blows all of it clear out of the water.
14. A few years ago I found myself without a band. I started taking lessons. I wanted to understand what some of the other 'proper' musicians I had played with were talking about. I didn't want to learn what I already knew so my tutor taught me quite a bit of Duke Ellington/Sinatra type stuff, underpinned with Simandl and Bach cello pieces. I loved it and think it opened up my thinking and playing. Unfortunately, if I now look at a score I haven't a clue how to play it, but I guess I could pick it up again.
15. Not my cup of tea at all and I can't help thinking that if you told the majority of their fans it was all written and recorded in1976 they would all say it was unbearable tripe.

17. Tecamp is seriously good stuff. God only knows why none of the big retailers have picked up on their stuff. I have Tech Soundsystems gear from their previous incarnation which is fabulous. The stuff is properly put together too so I doubt you'd get any problems with it. If/when I buy more gear I will definitely be on the lookout for Tecamp. Try it out if you can.

19. Bought a Tech combo off Simon. Great bloke - no hassle and would recommend to anyone.
20. For any funk officianados - this hits the nail on the head for me. David Dyson on an MTD (Ithink). If you can't be bothered to listen to all 9 minutes, try it from 2.20 where the song breaks down to some pure groove from Dyson and Gene Lake on drums. 22. He came up with some beautiful bass parts. Lady Grinning Soul is a personal favorite. I know he made me want to pick up a bass. Sad day.
23. My approach has always been to not listen much to a new song (cover), and then play what I feel like playing. I then listen to the original and sometimes prefer what I've come up with, or bits of it. Of course, this doesn't work with a song you know really well already but it keeps things interesting. Many years ago I was playing in a covers band and the guitarist said to me "the bass line doesn't go like that". I replied " It f****ing well does when I'm playing it".
24.
Like Dood, I've owned Tech gear in the past and it is generally very good quality. Can't recall the Triple Cube off the top of my head but I've been around long enough to have read the original reviews when these were released so if you throw up a pic I'll see if it jogs my memory and I may be able to find a 'Bassist' review of the combo. ...saying that; the fact that you are asking about wattages has me now thinking that you don't have the combo to hand and may be thinking of buying blind!
You got it! I've got a Tech 2x12 cab which is fantastic and was looking for a smaller combo for rehearsals and smaller gigs. This Triple Cube thingy came up but no information from the Tech Soudsystems old website so thought I'd ask around. I know the gear is high quality as is the newer Tecamp stuff but had never heard of this before.
