  1. Could check out some lesser known stuff too. Try The Buddaheads (some great stuff) and The Boneshakers who play blues with a touch of funk.
  2. Check out Paul Rodgers - Muddy Water Blues. There's some quite heavy interpretations of some classic blues numbers on there.
  3. Probably quite a bit of snobbery involved I'd say. The vast majority of punters wouldn't notice the difference at all - in fact most of them hardly know what the bass does. Bass players however like to have nice gear that they like the sound of which is absolutely fine.
  4. I'd check out Government Mule if you don't know them or Warren Haynes solo stuff. You might like the Tedeschi Trucks band also.
  5. 2 band for me. Everything flat out and roll off a bit of treble.
  6. Great band. Country Soul Blues Rock with more than a hint of New Orleans Funk Boogie. Richie Hayward was a beast.
  7. If you mess up, tell people you play a lot of jazz.
  8. Turn the gain down and the master up. If you're already running the master flat out it must be a pretty loud band.
  9. I doubt very much you'd want to be anywhere near that set up if it was running loud enough to damage it.
  10. Have a look in the For Sale section. There's an EBS Session 60 in there that fits your budget and I would think it fits your requirements. With the auxiliary input you can play music from an external source and jam along on bass which is great if you're starting out. I have no connection to the seller by the way.
  11. As said before, no pedal will compensate for dodgy technique. Slap is as much about muting as it is about thumping and popping the strings. Also try practicing some rudimentary drum patterns like paradiddles (use your hands to tap on your legs) to get the left and right hands working alternately.
  12. Fire him. Doesn't sound like it would be hard.
  13. What a looker! Bet it sounds great too if the 6 stringers are anything to go by. Have a bump.
  14. Miss my old SMX.
  15. That's a great looking cab.
  16. Guessed the whole lot using clichéd answers and got 5. Very disappointed - was hoping for 0.
  17. Had a Diago patch cable kit off them a few weeks back. Best price I could get and got it straight away.
  18. Reliced - a perfectly good instrument that has been left in the outside lane of the M25 for a couple of days to make it appear that it, and its' handler, have got plenty of miles on the clock.
  19. Love 'em and miss Ian Dury loads. Would love to get some of their stuff in our set list but it's an uphill battle. Have a go at Clever Trevor or If I was with a Woman. 2 of my favorites
  20. I use a Way Huge Green Rhino on that song. Sounds alright to me.
  21. Aqualung - Jethro Tull.
  22. A lot of bass for not a lot of money here. Lovely neck and huge range of available tones. GLWTS.
  23. Spent a Sunday afternoon in a pub in Highgate with Tony Hadleigh many years ago. A mate of mine was decorating his house and got me to price up some work he wanted doing on his Jag. He was a really down to earth bloke and a good laugh as well.
  24. You should really contact the owner of the shop to let him/her know how crap the staff have been. People often work extremely hard to build up a business but the staff they employ really couldn't give a toss.
