  1. The Grammys and Adele are indicative of the general appetite for pre packaged blandness. She's done well to swim to the top but I couldn't listen to another song about how miserable she is or watch such a self congratulatory pageant. The Grammys bears out the old adage that 'You can't polish a turd, but you can throw glitter on it'.
  2. I don't know for sure but was told that Ebay fees have been hiked right up. Stuff needs to sell for more to enable people to get a reasonable price. Anybody know what the fees actually are?

  4. Hurt - Johnny Cash.
  5. Great band. There's something about talented players like Derek Trucks who use their fingers instead of picks which gives their playing unique character and subtlety. Jeff Beck springs to mind. Susan Tedeschi has such a fabulous vice as well.
  6. If you end up with a cab with a port in the back, put it close to a wall to strengthen the sound projection. I'd also say cut the lows and boost the mids/upper mids a bit. Have a wander out front when you sound check to get an idea of how loud you are in the mix. I've had cabs in the past that don't disperse the sound very well, and what is barely audible on stage is deafening 30 feet away.
  7. Got my tickets on order. Probably won't get another chance to see the best rock singer ever (in my opinion) performing the stuff where it all started. Can't take your money with you.
  8. My bid is in. Hope I don't win it though - could lead to divorce.
  9. Website is crucial in my opinion. If it isn't good enough get it sorted quickly. Live recordings, video clips, Youtube links, testimonials, still photos, bits about band members, equipment you use etc, can all make the thing interesting. Sort out your own publicity stuff as well with posters and business cards so that you leave something there when you visit a potential venue.
  10. Sometimes it's more convenient to have a particular sound available in a pedal rather than setting up your amp to achieve it. You may not want 'that' sound from your rig the whole time but need it available for a particular song. The drive pedal I use is the Tritonlab one in this clip. It produces all sorts of tones that I really like. People have read up on these (not very well) and been put off by the bit that says it runs at 33v. It does not need a 33v power supply - it's internal wiring steps the voltage up from a standard 9v input. It also has 2 gain stages with different flavours to mix and match. Love mine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8aQExhdSj8
  11. Looks interesting. Analogue or digital? The 5th option is cool. Look forward to your review since I like an octave here and there.
  12. Blimey! Let me know if you're coming round my way and I'll move out to a safe distance. Are you related to the Kenny Everett character called Reg Prescott by any chance?
  13. A nod to Bobby Vega.
  14. Just down the road from me and got nothing on the calendar so will more than likely make it.
  15. Don't play it in my current band but Lip Up Fatty used to cause absolute mayhem on the dancefloor. Also used to do a ska version of Tom Jones It's Not Unusual.
  16. T Bone was such a cool dude. Miss him.
  17. Juan Nelson, although you'd never say he didn't break into a sweat.
  18. Thanks for that Oops. Can't find the manual to mine and am also a complete Luddite so that's a big help.
  19. I've found the B3 a bit limiting because I've used some of the patches to create a 'global' sound (as in compression and light drive always on). I've then used the third patch to add an effect (e.g. octave). To maintain the global sound it's necessary to set up adjacent banks with the same compression and drive with a different third patch (eg fuzz),but toggling between banks is too slow. Anyone tried 2 B3s in line?
  20. No mention of Play That Funky Music yet?
  21. Mandolin. Hands too big and brain too small.
  22. Could you not keep the Eden head and swap out the 4x10 for another aguilar 1x12?
  23. Works alright if you take out most of the bass and a fair bit of low mids eq.. Electric guitar through a Fender Bassman is a classic sound.

    Soloing

Leave all that stuff to the flouncing flamingos.
