Anyone have any experience of these by comparison. I'm considering a sub 100w combo and like the sound of the Bassman but not heard the equivalent Rumble. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

The G Lab Bass Wowee Wah is well worth a look for some cool ideas.

I have a clean sound through my amp and use pedals for different songs.

Wish I still had my old SMX head. Contrary to some opinions, I liked the pre shape sound with a bit of a 'grumpy' face EQ setting and found it cut through the mix just fine.

We usually finish off with A Town Called Malice which the punters generally go a bit berserk to.

I'd just mention that playing on a raised stage, which I presume was the case at your festival, can often add a lot of clout to your on stage sound (at least, it does in my experience).

Aguilar Filter Twin does up and down sweep (and you can mix the two).

Our drummer recently got himself a DW kit. I preferred his old Yamaha kit, not least because we could control the overall volume much better.

2 gigs I went to see many years ago stand out for me on this subject. First one: Buddy Guy. He made loads of mistakes but put on such an entertaining show. Lots of banter with the audience and put everything into being entertaining. Second one; Robert Cray Band. Faultless but soulless performance which left feeling like I could have simply listened to the CD. I'm OK with mistakes.

I'd suggest jamming some stuff to get them improvising. Set a groove going and see what comes out. Classical music is very rigid and most other types are the complete opposite. It will take time to adapt.

Just had Can You See The Real Me (The Who) come up on the 'learn for rehearsal' list. Yikes! Doesn't seem too hard but a huge amount of pentatonic noodling up the dusty end. Really looking forward to having a bash at this one though.

Not a fan of their music or the genre, but I always thought Richie Sambora's solo on Bon Jovi's Keep The Faith was perfect in it's construction and execution.

Used to do a ska version of It's Not Unusual - Tom Jones. Punters loved it.

Setting yourself achievable goals is the first step. Then move onto gradually increasing your comfort zone, safe in the knowledge that you can retreat back into it whenever you need to.

I've just acquired a SolidGold FX Beta pedal and now I believe my lengthy quest is over. Lovely, fat and warm germanium drive that gives me what a load of previous pedals couldn't. This one's a keeper.

Barnes doesn't do it for me. Bernard Edwards let the music breathe but dropped in the odd killer lick. It was as much about what he didn't play as what he did.
