1.
Assuming it's not a prototype, there's nothing fancy under the bonnet... Vol, Tone & a 3-way pickup selector (Neck/Both/Bridge). I'd venture it *might* have been re-pickuped as well as carved about - my 1981 TSB has staggered exposed poles & the p/ups aren't sealed. Pete.
Too fancy for me! Wiring doesn't look quite right, only neck pup connected to the volume which I guess might be the problem? Mine is the same as the 400 at the very bottom of this page - poles aren't exposed, cream pickups (which is the same as mine hiding under that black paint) If you have any pics of your wiring, I'd be really grateful to see them so I could compare.
2. Actually, Ice Cube claimed he wrote it and Charles Wright had to go and have words... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6y-il5RQPQc
3. Is this a real P? The seller says it's 1970's but it seems a bit cheap and plasticky to me...... 5.
We don't call them mistakes, we call them beer notes..
We call them Quogs.
6. I was hoping you'd be along! Yes, that's what I thought too. The headstock doesn't look as though it's been reshaped though, if it had, I would've expected it to be as bad a job as the paint job on the neck. Yep, it's a 32" scale. Any idea where I'd find a wiring diagram? Thanks!
7. Bought this off of the 'Bay. Has anyone seen a headstock shape like this before? The neck was painted by one of the previous owners and I've already started the restoration process. Bridge pickup doesn't work - how can I test the pickup as it's a sealed unit?
8.
Really nice SB-900 here - http://www.ebay.co.u...9#ht_1612wt_937 It may go for cheap as it's collection only. If anyone wants me to pick it up and post it for them (after looking after it for a few days ) then I'd be happy to!
Someone gota bargain - sadly, it wasn't me!
9. Funk punch straight to the er... something
10.
Not surprising, really. I'd rather wear the dress and wig than be seen dead in that white shirt/black t-shirt combo. What was he thinking? Plus, he's proving publicly that he's a miserable stuck-in-the-mud party pooper, too. Though he is a guitarist, so... what d'you expect?
Wig? Wig? That's my bloody hair!
11. Really nice SB-900 here - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160836045858?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619#ht_1612wt_937 It may go for cheap as it's collection only. If anyone wants me to pick it up and post it for them (after looking after it for a few days ) then I'd be happy to!
12. Not entirely sure why we wore dresses but I swear I wasn't the only one! The singer (pictured) chickened out but everyone else was trannied up too. Miss that bass too.
13. If I were you I'd book some small gigs. When there's a tangible objective it gives people much more motivation to turn up to rehearsals.
14. There's also a jazz jam in Shot in The Dark in Cardiff on the last Sunday of the month. The best open mic night in the world though is every Thursday at Koko's! Funk and soul by the bucketload with some jazz, reggae and African music thrown in for good measure.
15. Is this a record for a thread resurrection? Over 5 years!
16. There's a couple of Daion Savage guitars on the 'Bay at the moment if you're still looking.
17.
I had one for a while on loan. Fun to play around the house unplugged but sounded dreadful through an amp, weedy and thin. I was surprised to see Dave Pegg playing one with Jethro Tull on a DVD the other day, some time around the early 90s I think it was.
That's a RiverHEAD bass and I used to own it! He'd defretted too, sounded ok, nothing special.
18. That is exactly why it's a bad idea to take magic mushrooms before painting anything.
19. http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/bass-for-sale/104503835 She doesn't say what it is but she doesn't have to! Bought for 2000 (Pounds? Euros? Shellfish?) and selling for £50! Who's going to go for it?
20. Thanks Neepheid. Wow, never heard of these before, really nice! Edit: Thanks Barnacle Bob too!
21. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoQEPJ5K4G4 O knowlegeable denizens of Basschat, what is this bass being weilded by Colin in the above video? Thanks.
22. Thanks to the Sososo thread, I'm listening to Dresden. I like!
23. Another interesting bass - reminds me of the quantum. Carbon Fibre neck??? Don't think so! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261046182662#ht_500wt_951
24. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Japanese-Matsumoku-Bass-Aria-Pro-II-TSB-400-prototype-PROJECT-/330746806757?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item4d020bc1e5#ht_500wt_951 Interesting looking thing here - like the body, shame about the neck/headstock.
