1. Any love (and cash) for Japanese quality out there?
  2. Too much for a Westone? Make me an offer - this is a quality bass!
  3.
Fab looking thing, never had one but remember them. Do you mind me asking how much that cost ?
£275 plus the postage. Which is about average I think, one went for £211 a few months back and one a couple of weeks ago for £364. To get this quality in a new instrument though you'd have to spend a LOT more. Edit: they weren't as nice as mine though - and mine has the LED on it which I haven't seen on any others!
  4.
These are real "sleepers" - far better basses than they're given credit for..like BillyApple my first bass was a Thunder 1A..from an esthetic point of view I find the headstock to be ust a little too big...a minor niggle for what is a great bass..I can't wait to find one with a broken headstock so that I can fit the headless system I've got tucked away..
Just buy the Superheadless!
  5. I really really really like Westones! I like the shape, the sound, the lovely Japanese-y early 80's vibe they have. I've had 6 so far and this new one I bought off the bay is easily my favourite! XLR input, great sound, really liking the phase reverse on this one - seems to have more effect than previous Westones I've owned. Anyway, here's some pics: Check out that grain! Yum!
  6. I'll be there and Gazgoldstar (who's this month's Player Spotlight player in No Treble magazine) will be coming along with lots of toys too.
  7. So, selling my Thunder III (unless the fretless goes first). Very very well-made Japanese bass made by Matsumoku in 1984. Here's some spec: Body is solid Canadian ash, with a through-body heelless neck which is a laminate of maple and walnut with a 24 fret ebony fingerboard with snowflake inlay position markers.

P/J style pickups with 3-way selector switch
Phase reverse, 'dual tone' (Series/parallel) and active tone switches
Volume, active and passive tone controls
Brass nut, saddles and bridge , anodised aluminium brass effect backplates.

I LOVE this bass and am selling it to fund the Thunder II I've just vbought which is a tiny bit sexier.

I currently have it strung with flatwounds and the range of tones I can get is amazing. The neck feels great (to me) and it's a joy to play.

There are a couple of nicks on it but nothing major and no buckle rash on the back either. The top of the pickup selector switch has snapped off but doesn't hinder operation.

You're welcome to come round and have a play. Will also post at buyer's cost in a hard case.
8. To drum up a little more interest in this I've taken some sexy arty photo's like you get in that there porn thread... Mother of Pearl that logo is y'know.
  9. So here's some photo's and some info for those who haven't come across the Classic 450 before: It's incredibly light at only 4kg and comes with it's own gig bag which has extra pockets for all your leads etc.

Power: 450 Watt (800+W peak)
Weight: 4 kg / 8.8 pounds
Dimensions: 275 x 290 x 66mm
Balanced DI output: Galvanic isolated transformer-balanced (pre/post pre-amp)
Tone controls: Four vintage tone controls
Compression: SpectraComp multi-band compression
This has PLENTY of power and I've used it for funk, soul, jazz, reggae and ska and been able to get the right sound everytime. The compressor is particularly good and I haven't used an external compressor since getting this. As you can see in the pics, some have the stitching has started to come undone on the bag, if it's a big problem for you I'll pop it into the dress shop next door to my house for a fix up. :-)
  10. Played a fundraiser for the upcoming ska musical I'm in - ON A MONDAY NIGHT. Did we raise much money? Did we ****! Although we did pass the hat round the 3 people who were there. Well done producers, brilliant idea. Also our guitarist is p155 poor, the trumpet player was awful and the saxophonist likes to make up song structure as she goes along. If the money for the musical wasn't so good I'd be out of there already!
  11. I'm getting the RH450 as I need the headphone capabilities so this is up for sale. Comes with the gig bag, has a small scratch in the top but otherwise in very good condition. Will put up pics tomorrow after work.
  12. Hey, are you willing to split at all? If so, how much for the RH450 on it's own?
  13. www.dizzyjam.com will do small runs for you and fans can buy direct too. I know they're good 'cos it's my housemate's business!
  14.
cool, does he do grand designs? I like that program havent got tv reception at the moment tho as I watch most stuff downloaded off the net (game of thrones, chuck, burn notice, etc) will have to get a freeview box soon. I cant watch online as the ibook is a bit slow and it doesnt have the required flash player. grand designs is a god program though, I actually like watchin it best in autumn /winter
You can download an add-on to your old flash so you can watch iPlayer etc. If you PM me with your email I can send you it.
  15. £1400 - For this?????? Not that rare either - I've seen 3 or 4 in the last few months. http://www.ebay.co.u...#ht_16015wt_935 EDIT: Just noticed they're by the same seller!
  16. Time for a spot of Sunday bump
  17. I've seen these photo's for sale on eBay - is that you selling them or has someone ripped you off?
  18. Thank you for the kind words and many thanks to deanovw for putting the pics up all big an' that! It's actually a Thunder II, made in 1982. Macassar ebony fingerboard. There are 2 holes on the front of the body where the previous owner had a Roland synth pickup installed. One dink between the pickups and a couple of chips on the back - I can take close-up pics if you want or anyone is welcome to come round and try it out. Edit: I'll ship it well packed and in a wooden hard case. You're free to choose your own courier but I'd recommend Interparcel for cheapness!

Lovely chap to deal with, makes a mean quiche!
  20. Decided to sell my Thunder IIa as I need to get a fretted back-up for a show I'm doing. Pics on thread here -http://basschat.co.uk/topic/136517-fretless-porn/page__st__20 Will post more pics later today. Will also trade for Jap stuff - Aria's Ibanez Roadster etc. OR PEAVEY T-40
  21.
It is very nice, but do you think worth the money? What is the rare part, the model or the finish?
True, it's way overpriced, just like the rest of the gear he has ( one of them is a £2k Westone!), but it's still the first Ric I've seen that I really like
  22. Way more than I was prepared to pay anyway...
  23. Wow, this has to be the most BS I've seen on an ad. Would be worth getting just for the left-handed gig bag..... http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/westone-left-handed-bass/111774954
  24. So when are where shall we do this?
