Thanks for this - I am a huge IH fan too. I had seen this clip before and have been looking for for ages on you tube. I think the bass player might be James Alexander - the only member of the Bar-Kays who survived as he didn't get on the plane with Otis Redding.... EDIT: Just read the wiki - apparently the wasn't the only survivor - the trumpet player actually on the plane survived the crash.
The bass player IS James Alexander - although, laughably, Carole Kaye has claimed she played bass on it....

Very nice example of a Cardinal Series going in the next few hours http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aria-Pro-II-CSB-380-bass-guitar-1982-Cardinal-Series-Bass-Matsumoku-/190740442370?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c69042d02 -

Second show of RUDE:A Ska Musical last night. Band was noticeably tighter than opening night, playing almost perfectly until a major sax quog at the start of Ghost Town Some parts of this show are really tricky - we do a version of Gangsters which has stops for narration after each section and halfway through each verse and coming back in on a non-musical cue is hard! Otherwise though it's great fun and I get to have a fight every night too!

Wow nice! I know Willie Hall is on drums and Charles Pitts does the famous wah-wah guitar - but do you know who the rest of the band are? The E.P. player in particular is very familiar. EDIT: That would be 'cos it's Booker T - D'oh!

Westone Thunder II Fretless -Back up for sale - £299!
Lovely bass, reckon if you eBay and offer to send to Europe it'll go pretty quickly. Whenever I need to sell a bass quick (used to be an almost daily occurrence), there was usually someone in Holland or Germany happy to take it off my hands at the asking price?
Thanks - I'll give it a go! -

I like unusual basses, I like basses from the 1970's/80's. But, I hate Guilds - fugly unbalanced mud-coloured pieces of crap! -
Looks great, and I bloody love goat curry, me. Cardiff's a bit far, but hope you have it large
Thanks man, you'll just have to wait for the film (which has just been confirmed as going ahead) then - wooot!

I'm playing bass (and doing a bit of stage fighting!) for this show which runs from this Wednesday (24th Oct) until the 2nd November. It's especially good if you like Caribbean food as the chef in the restaurant where it's staged cooks a great goat curry! http://www.chapter.org/28154.html
Fab looking thing, never had one but remember them. Do you mind me asking how much that cost ?
£275 plus the postage. Which is about average I think, one went for £211 a few months back and one a couple of weeks ago for £364. To get this quality in a new instrument though you'd have to spend a LOT more. Edit: they weren't as nice as mine though - and mine has the LED on it which I haven't seen on any others!
These are real "sleepers" - far better basses than they're given credit for..like BillyApple my first bass was a Thunder 1A..from an esthetic point of view I find the headstock to be ust a little too big...a minor niggle for what is a great bass..I can't wait to find one with a broken headstock so that I can fit the headless system I've got tucked away..
Just buy the Superheadless!

I really really really like Westones! I like the shape, the sound, the lovely Japanese-y early 80's vibe they have. I've had 6 so far and this new one I bought off the bay is easily my favourite! XLR input, great sound, really liking the phase reverse on this one - seems to have more effect than previous Westones I've owned. Anyway, here's some pics: Check out that grain! Yum!

I'll be there and Gazgoldstar (who's this month's Player Spotlight player in No Treble magazine) will be coming along with lots of toys too.

So, selling my Thunder III (unless the fretless goes first). Very very well-made Japanese bass made by Matsumoku in 1984. Here's some spec: Body is solid Canadian ash, with a through-body heelless neck which is a laminate of maple and walnut with a 24 fret ebony fingerboard with snowflake inlay position markers.

P/J style pickups with 3-way selector switch
Phase reverse, 'dual tone' (Series/parallel) and active tone switches
Volume, active and passive tone controls
Brass nut, saddles and bridge , anodised aluminium brass effect backplates.

I LOVE this bass and am selling it to fund the Thunder II I've just vbought which is a tiny bit sexier.

I currently have it strung with flatwounds and the range of tones I can get is amazing. The neck feels great (to me) and it's a joy to play.

There are a couple of nicks on it but nothing major and no buckle rash on the back either. The top of the pickup selector switch has snapped off but doesn't hinder operation.

You're welcome to come round and have a play. Will also post at buyer's cost in a hard case.
