1. http://www.essencemusicagency.com/ http://www.essexents.com/ http://www.geminipromotions.org/ http://www.silverdogmusic.co.uk/essexbands.htm That's the top 4 from google - give them a call and see what happens! Good Luck
2.
erm, no it has the same headstock, which is not like the Vintage ones... and this one clearly says Benson on it
Oh yeah! If I'd've scrolled down the page onstead of trying to zoom in on the tiny photo at the top I would've seen that too.
3. Arrrgh! How did I not see this?! Bargainous!
4. So tonight went really well - which is getting to be a bit of a habit! Absolutely loving playing with a group of really excellt musicians. We had a dep drummer for the first set as Delwyn Myers (our regular drummer) was doing an early set down the road, and he did brilliantly considering he hadn't heard the songs before yesterday when I phoned him! Second set went down really well as well, got some bookings for other clubs from it, saw a load of people I hadn't chatted to for a while and managed to scoot across town to see Afrocluster too! Great night! Oh and some compliments off of other bass players!!! Whoooot!
5. As it says in the title 1st starts at 8.30, would be good to see some BC'ers there! Also we're using 2 different drummers as our main guy is giiging till 9pm, the other has never played or rehearsed with us and one's a lefty, one's a righty - should be fun!
6. It was the Jazz 'Precision' that I zoomed in on and it appeared to say Vintage on the headstock. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brand-new-Precision-BASS-GUITAR-Green-Sunburst-B-STOCK-NO-RESERVE-1-LOT-25-/190726201787?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2c682ae1bb#ht_3270wt_993
7.
Cant make out the headstock name! Probably really cheap Chinese nonsence to start with. Still a bargain though when 'missing a string' is classed as a default A
Vintage brand by the looks of it, although one of the feedbacks said Yamaha.
8. £25 - £40 average price? Blimey!
9. This has now been recycled.
10. Someone (sorry I forget who!) di try to organise one before but it fell through due to (I think) no one being available to host the event in Music Box studios in Cardiff. Since then there's been a flurry of new South Wales-based members so shall we organise a Cardiff or Swansea Bass Bash?
11. Tuners are with this bass as are the strings I got with it.
12. A while back, Gazgoldstar was on about getting one of these - it may be worth your while sending him a PM.
13. Cardiff - If you look under a member's avatar, it usually states their location. For instance, I see you are in Michelin Star central - Ludlow.
14. But beaten by £1 because that person bid in the last second using a snipe tool! Why can't Ebay just extend the auction by 2 minutes every time someone bids so the seller gets the mazimum amount someone was prepared to bid?
15. Aaaargh beaten again by stupid bullsh*t eBay snipe nonsense!
16. It's that old story: Boy buys cheap bass. Boy decides to make a project out of bass. Boy strips poorly painted neck. Boy puts bass in case and forgets about bass. Overcome with guilt and remorse Boy offers bass for free to anyone who will collect it. Boy says case does not come with bass. Boy points out that one pickup is dead and both are cosmetically shagged. Boys requests donation to Basschat.
17.
3.53 and gone, Hall's mob on fire
Lucky I messaged him before they took it down then isn't it?
18. That is a large amount of wood being used...
19. This will be pulled by the end of the day probably but while it's there it 's nice! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280965729244
20. Is anyone else bidding on this lovely Thunder II? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Westone-Thunder-II-Bass-Guitar-Matsumoku-Japan-inc-Hardcase-/150897485499?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item232230e6bb
21. An update: The promoter messaged me apologising profusely again and promising a gig in the near future at full whack, In the meantime I got in touch with a new venue and we got a gig there on Saturday at the double the money we would've! Win-win!
22. He's right - It IS very cool to clangs!
23. I wish I'd read all of your excellent replies earlier as we've just come back from giving him a hiding! Seriously though, I agree with the majority of you and we've (civilly) let him know that we're annoyed and if he's lucky enough to have us play at his club then he will have to pay us in advance. Thanks for all of your replies.
24.
If you have written confirmation of the booking then you should chase him for the full fee. If you're a member of the MU, they will be able to help. Obviously, this so-called promoter won't want to pay up, so it will all depend on how bloody minded and persistent you are. Unfortunately, there's a lot of these bell-end promoters around these days. They act on the premise that your band should be falling over with gratitude for the opportunity to play in their venue. Unless you are desperate for gigs I would have nothing to with this anus or any event that he is associated with.
He's a clever b*stard in that despite me requesting confirmation of the fee in writing on numerous occasions he only ever confirmed it verbally. I've learned the lesson now though - all future gigs will have a written contract before we confirm them
