Westone Thunder III's have nicely balanced P/J's in them. Massively cheap for the quality too

'General Discussion' has turned into 'Off Topic'
chaypup replied to Spoombung's topic in General Discussion
If BC members could be bothered to go to the recording section and listen to other members' music and watch their videos, then the posting of them in GD might lessen since there would be little need. But I suppose the majority of members would rather talk about, rather than actually listen, to music. I have a stock answer for this, even if I think differently at that particular time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z66wVo7uNw

2 gigs this weekend. Friday night was in a townie sports bar - 2 minutes before we went on the landlord says to me - "I liked the overall sound last time but I think you were enjoying yourselves too much, less solos tonight please" !! Of course we put extra solos in each song The crowd only wanted Kaiser chiefs-type stuff, the floor is slate with full length windows all around and a 30ft ceiling, the monitors on our hire PA failed - pretty shocking sound all round! Saturday played 2 doors down from the Friday venue and what a difference! More pay, free drinks, excellent sound guy and an up-for-it party crowd of young 'uns who cheered all the crazy solos and mash ups we like to do. Ace!

Shouldn't this topic be moved to 'off topic'? -
Thanks Chris, that bass player 'cheats' a bit by missing out the second note. That's the bit I'm having trouble is the fast change from the second and third notes in the phrase. The rest I've got. I listened to a recording of the band I'm depping for and their bassist does the same, but I'd like to get it as good as the original.

I've got to learn this for a dep gig - it's well tricky! Having trouble with the technique rather than what notes to play. So.... anyone know of a good playalong/lesson video or have any tips? Thanks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_oEd1tpKWY

I sold a bass the other week and had to wait till the buyer had left feedback until it was taken out of 'pending'

if there's a load of unusual activity on your account maybe they're going to email/text you to check you're not being scammed/hacked.

Played at the Garage in Swansea supporting Federation of the Disco Pimp (who are amazing btw!) Great on-stage sound in soundcheck, shame it was completely different when we actually played the gig half an hour later! How does that work?? Listened back and it wasn't too bad considering we had stand in singers drummer and horn section, shame the drummer decided to make things 'interesting' by changing song structures and endings on the fly. Oh well, plenty of compliments and got a festival date and a new year's gig out of it Edit: Oh, and used FOADP's GK combo - sounded very woolly throughout, until the last tune when something changed and it sounded beautiful and jazzy burbly!
Don't normally show my bass pics but I just love the look of this shoreline gold American Deluxe P which arrived yesterday. Set her up last night bud sadly have to go to work now :-(
Nice! Your vacuum cleaner prefers the other bass though...

Nicely done! Who filmed and edited it for you?
Yeah endsleigh are the worst. I used them for contents insurance when I first moved from home into a bedsit-type deal. Got all my stuff nicked out of my room and they wouldn't pay out because although my room was secured, the burglars got in through a housemates window and literally smashed my door in. They said that my room wasnt secured properly even though I had two locks on the door and an alarmed window with all sorts of burglar prevention measures attached to it. Ridiculous! I got the payout 4 years later. When it comes to protecting your gear when you're gigging, it's a case of just keeping an eye on everything as best you can. I never leave any bags or cases in my car while I'm gigging and I always try to leave my instrument somewhere difficult to get to; such as behind the drumkit or my rig. Truckstoo
While you weren't looking someone stole your 'p' and replaced it with a cheap and nasty 'o'. You gotta keep an eye on EVERYTHING!

I just spotted this Rick copy on eBay. Westone Superheadless - doesn't look like a refin but I've never seen this colour before! http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4ac4b1736f -
Hi, I was going to bid on that myself but missed it. I asked about postage and she said £24 by courier. I thought it might make a decent spare. I have some CIJ pickups and a couple of P scratchplates so it looked like I was onto a winner but then I forgot! Apart from missing that I also missed a Westone Thunder 2 on ebay that went buy it now for £235... Gutted.
I don't know how that Westone bypassed my auto-search - bargain!

2 gigs this weekend: Friday night played The Yard in Cardiff, fairly shocking onstage sound even though there was a house engineer but we still had fun and got everyone involved even though it's a bit of a sleepy older crowd. Saturday played a birthday party in Swansea - amazing night! Had our new stand-in singer on half the set and she was on fire! I'm really chuffed with my ability to find brilliant musicians for this band As we had the van for this gig I took the extra 15" cab and it made so much difference - allowed me to get exactly the tone I wanted whereas the 2x10 has been struggling on it's own of late. It's a shame the 1x15" is so flipping massive - looks like I may be in the market for a smaller 1x15" cab or the TC electronic 1x12" soon... Oh, and the birthday girl invited us all back to hers to jump in the hot tub with her and her mates - happy days!
