1.
Will anyone actually check these out tho? Or will it just be a list of facebook pages?!
I've checked a few out and had a few 'likes' as a result of posting my band's page up here - thanks chaps!
2. Thanks all! Basschat threads count as a legal document in arguments between band members right?
3. Thanks for that Les but I think he's transcribed it in a different key!
4. Thanks Bilbo! Although if she's playing it in Eb then I'll have to too!
5. My keyboard player says Eb, but I hear the bass in the main section as being in A then going D C D A for the 'chorus' Are my ears deceiving me?
6. SuperChango!'s Facebook page - www.facebook.com/superchangouk

8. Ibanex Studio bass going for a reasonable price in the States :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IBANEZ-STUDIO-ST-924-4-STRING-BASS-Made-in-Japan-RARE-MUSICIAN-ACTIVE-ARTIST-MIJ-/121062080221?pt=Guitar&hash=item1c2fdcbedd I used to own one and these are seriously nice basses - shame they weigh about 6 tons!
9.
I've been going steady with me for some years, now - I'm everything I've been looking for in a partner. And when I have sex it's always with someone I really love.
Well that's how you feel about it but how do YOU feel about it? Maybe you're lying there hoping you will hurry up and get it finished with. Errr... I think, I've got a bit confused now!
10. Welcome to the forum! I was in Bern recently visiting friends - great city!
11. Welcome Steve! What part of S.Wales are you in?
12. I asked my daughter when she was about 3, what she'd like to be when she grew up. "I think I'd like to be a pony please, Dad!"
13. We're playing in Gwdihw this Saturday and after tonight's rehearsal with our new drummer and percussionist and new tracks I have a feeling this one is going to blow the roof off! Shizznit I'm looking in your direction.......
14. Thanks! You didn't have to saw the headstocks off to show me though!
15. The Musician basses are heavy enough anyway - this must weigh a TONNE!

17. So, we've auditioned both drummers. Both are great players. Both are musical and heard and adapted to the dynamics of the rest of the band. Both improvised well when we threw in unexpected changes. Both can do backing vocals well. Both are really lovely people and seemed easy to get on with (and we discovered we have mutual friends with both) But James just edged it. Largely to do with the fact that he's very proactive and set up a record label with his old band and just has a bit more experience. However, Rhian is also a great percussionist and as our last guy has just left she fits into that space nicely, and she's a ready-made dep for any gigs that James can't do. So, a good result I think!
18.
too right- I've been reading this and wondering what has happened to this place in the last few years! Quite a change I think - I always thought there used to be a unwritten rule that you didn't try and make a profit out of buying and selling on here. Yes when ebay/inflation rates/or things generally going up in price get involved it gets more complex. It used to be if barry sold me a bass for £700 and I didn't get on with it I would sell it for about £700 to someone else - even if the bass could have fetched a wee bit more elsewhere, sticking it up here for £1000 a month later... it's not 'wrong' as such but kinda against the spirit of the thing.
I think for most of us, if we made £300 profit on a bass then we'd only go spending it on more bass gear here anyway! Personally, I realise that when I buy things from BC members I am the beneficiary of their good will and I get a well-priced bass and a good service, so I feel compelled to offer that same courtesy to others.
19. Top chap - great comms and an absolute pleasure to deal with.
20. That's a great looking bass and as Throwoff says, in very good condition. However, I would amend the price of your gumtree ad. It's easily worth £200 or thereabouts and people normally sell here for slightly cheaper than gumtree/eBay because it's a community of like-minded folk not just strangers buying stuff. Is there a case with the bass? Edit: Just read the "no case" bit.
21. Got into Cecil McBee through the Lonnie Liston Smith connection, really like his groove, although the solo at the end is a bit w@nky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TfA89kc4IS0
22. Contact GazGoldstar about this, he already does music tech shows for a couple of different sites, is a great player and is off to Tokyo soon with Underworld so always has lots to speak about and show. PM me and I'll send you contact details.
23. Our keys player has always been like this and our sax player has recently started not replying to texts - I now have to phone them up to get confirmation for gigs and rehearsals. But I'm going to charge them for each time they don't reply and I have to call them.
24.
Maybe it could be something to do with the fact that you seem to have a problem with 'breadheads' as you mention them and the fact that there won't be paid work straight away? Most (all?) of the good players around will want to be getting paid work, especially if they are rehearsing every week and maybe paying for it.Also, they will probably have other commitments, which you also don't want. I'm not saying that you won't find a good player to join your band, but it may be limiting your search somewhat.
+1 When I was starting up my band and there were no gigs booked, it took a whole year to get everyone I wanted (although it is a ten-piece!) and most of them were friends of friends. When I was looking for a drummer a couple of weeks ago and we have lots of gigs booked nearly all the people who applied were of a high standard and had been gigging for years. I also put the following line in our ad: "All gigs are paid"
25. [s]I meant I think it's been flipped - I'll do some digging and check.[/s] Ah yes that's the one. Weird, so those covers are original?
