Ludlow? BC Underground Railway Request
pete.young replied to stewblack's topic in General Discussion
That's one heck of a long tunnel. -
I gave my grand piano away. Absolutely no second hand market for anything that isn't Yamaha, Steinway or Bosendorfer.

On a more positive note, the amazing Gail Ann Dorsey, with some help from the dodgy-looking geezer in the green shirt.- 141 replies

Mike Walsh, a.k.a Zoot Guitars and purple-chili.com , made it from a blank sheet.

I could be up for a trip from Ipswich, depending on the date of course. Would you mind reminding us where the venue is?

Stevie’s 12” FRFR Cab Build Thread (Basschat Cab v3)
pete.young replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Slightly surprised to see this. Would you like to say any more to help me understand? I've been using a pair of EA VL110s which are definitely full range cabinets, and they sound great together. -
New tort pickguard for my CIJ not-for-export, thanks to Mike Walsh for his craftsmanship and expertise. I can now get at the truss rod and see the LED when the P-Retro is charging. Happy days!

A public thanks to Mike Walsh of 'Zoot' bass
pete.young replied to GreeneKing's topic in Accessories and Misc
Well, I've been thinking for a while that I need a new guard for my CIJ Precision that would allow me to use the LED so I can see when the Pre-Retro needs a charge, and this motivated me to contact Mike. This was delivered a little while ago and doesn't look half bad! Thanks to @Cosmicrain for an outstanding job and @GreeneKing for the inspiration. -
Orchestral/Musical piece identification...
pete.young replied to NancyJohnson's topic in General Discussion
I miss that band. RIP Stuart. -
Walkabout Scout, Mesa Boogie, definitely does. You can run it totally clean or progressively introduce warmth, almost bordering on drive. I sold my DHA when I got mine, and have only missed it a little bit.

Yes, that's what you need to do.

My guess would be that the big one on the outside is the sleeve, the shortest of the other two is the tip and the other one is the ring, for either stereo or for switching on an active circuit. One way to check is with a multimeter, have you got access to one? If you plug a lead into it, you can check continuity between the tip on the free end of the lead and the tags on the socket.

Norfolk Music scene. What's it like
pete.young replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
The Apex, or Suffolk? They've played the Apex a few times, but none of them live here, though Telfer is just down the road in Essex. -
Norfolk Music scene. What's it like
pete.young replied to police squad's topic in General Discussion
Hope so. I think there's been a slight but steady decline over the last 10 years, important venues like the Mulberry Tree and Spread Eagle have gone, the Steam Boat Tavern isn't putting on nearly as many events as it used to, pubs in the surrounding countryside are closing or going gastropub. The Smoke House has been a great success, but is limited to 80 and selling out most gigs and there's a dearth of bigger options between that and the Regent. There's no sign of a venue like the Apex in Bury St Edmunds, and many of the smaller acts that can't fill the regent pass us by. Bilbo is fighting valiantly to make some quality jazz happen in Felixstowe, fair play to him! -

Plenty of good reasons to move to Suffolk, but the music scene in Ipswich is not one of them. It's dying on it's ringpiece. -
Considering getting an Epiphone Ripper bass

Bluetooth definitely isn't a windows 8.1 thing, I've used bluetooth with Windows 7, so it's fine if you have the hardware support.

Could be a toasted voice coil. I had problems with my TecAmp Puma 110 not long after I got it, and the original fitment driver turned out to be a mid-quality Sica unit. It was badged Tecamp but had a code number on it which looked like a letter Z followed by about 7 or 8 digits. That allowed me to identify a potential SIca replacement from the specs published on line. Mine got sorted out by Tecamp in the end and has been fine ever since (touch wood!) . If it happened again I wouldn't attempt to see out a Sica replacement, I'd go with Phil's suggestion of Beyma or Faital.

Having listened to the original, I think the video that @missis sumner linked is what Bill Wyman is playing, with the verse starting on the B (5th) note of the scale, and the one that Douglas provided starts on the 'E' and is dodgy. Personally, I prefer Vanessa Carlton's version, but then I'm weird.

I think you're right, it doesn't matter how much money you throw at production if it's not being promoted properly. You'd be far better off to spend a much smaller sum on targeted Facebook advertising IMHO.

THanks guys, it fooled me anyway! Nice looking bass.

Hard to make out from the pictures and I could be wrong but it looks more like a top-end SGC Nanyo Bass Collection to me. What does it say on the truss rod cover, and what is written on the cover plate on the control cavity?

Would that be Michael Williams? I don't know him personally. Mark Stuart taught my son electric guitar from beginner level and he passed RGT Grade 8 when we realised it was worth UCAS points. It sounds as though @Stippy is already making good progress and enjoying himself.
