1. I'm selling a pair of Electrovoice Force i 12 inch monitors / P.A. speakers. 12 inch speaker plus horn. They work brilliantly as monitors and P.A. 2. I know I shoudn't have but I couldn't help myself, I just had to see for my self!
3. Improvements stop as soon as you're happy with your bass.
4. Why indeed? The OP was asking about the QSC system which while the tops have received rave reviews, the subs have been found to be sadly lacking in the oomph department. The Mackies', to my ears, are not a pleasant sounding speaker being incredibly harsh and lacking mid and projection and the Yamaha's are not considered very 'pro audio' by many, but certainly seem to be accepted on the cabaret circuit. Why Barefaced though? I haven't tried or even heard them but I have owned barefaced bass cabs and been incredibly impressed and would fully expect the Barefaced P.A. department to be just as impressive, well worth a listen at the least and there's not a lot of difference in price between the QSC and Barefaced systems. Do I use any of the above, the answer is no. I decided to go the DIY route, bought Bill's plans and and made a pair of Otop12s and a pair of T39s and I couldn't be happier. I believe that I probably use a better sounding system than any of the above and if the OP was so inclined I would suggest that he follow this route as well.
5. I'd have a look at the new barefaced powered PA cabs. If I had the means, that's the route I'd likely take.
6. I have to admit that I'm still impressed with my rumble 500 head. It still far exceeds my initial expectations.
7. I have found that the pickup position plays possibly a more important role than the actual pickups themselves. Might be worth experimenting with that before committing to a specific pickup.
8. Go wireless and have a wander and hear the sound for yourself.
9. I use a pair of Phil Jones Bass over ear headphones. I am quite impressed with them.
10. Ah, the memories come flying back. Had one of those in about 1970 along with 2 x Marshall 1 x 18 cabs.
11. I woke up this morning.................
12. It might not be the bass at all if it only happens at gigs. If your cab is between 2 and 8 feet from a wall you'll get cancellation. Might be worth placing your cab in a corner and seeing if you get the same problem.
13. 2 off 4x12s would look rather nice sitting under it!
14. You could always make your own! http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=water+slide+decal+paper+clear&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=76245694712&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17926834078465960300&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&hvdev=c&ref=pd_sl_6q6m0msqbi_b
15. Me! P.M. me if you're interested.
16. Or, you could just buy one. https://www.studiospares.com/Microphones/DI-Boxes/Palmer-PAN-01-Passive-DI-Box_602860.htm?CAWELAID=120173110000146033&CAGPSPN=pla&catargetid=120173110000154407&cadevice=c&gclid=CjwKEAiA3Ou1BRDso5XyhduuwFASJABP3PED2MF679pRXvdSk2t7gjHPJoVhcvg_9FJcJs0dCyo9XhoChkrw_wcB#rtabs1
17. 9volts, no problem. might be a bit bright though on a dark stage.
18. Why?
19. In 1972 my first and only P cost me an extra 10% for left handed. They wanted another 10% if I wanted a solid colour, I did but couldn't afford it so ended up with a sunburst and I hate sunburst! How could they justify that? Actually, when I'd got the Fender I wondered if I'd made a serious mistake as the Sapphire seemed a bit better made and more playable.
20. An incredible £67 new!! Mine was £74 because I'm left handed.
21. A Kay Tulip bass? That's more rubbish than a rubbish thing that's really rubbish. The Wilson Sapphire is a great and very playable bass with a slim, fast neck, pickups might be a bit on the low output side though.
22. Ah, fond memories. Bought one of these new in 68 along with a Wem ER40 and a Starfinder cabinet. My first ever 'new' bass and amp. Bought from Bells' catalogue. Nice bass.
23. Having owned Sound city 100s, 120s and a 200 watt head, a long time ago I have to admit, The volume of the 120s and 200 is immense, however the active EQ made it impossible to get, in my opinion, a good sound. The Sound City 100, while still certainly loud enough, with its passive EQ made getting a great sound easy. Just like a Hiwatt really and I've had a few of those as well for comparison. For me the choice would be easy, the L100 but I'm sure others would be of a different opinion. Hope this helps.
24. Yep! 6 gloriously glowing EL34s and some ecc80 somethings.
25. I would say the L100 would be more Entwhistle as it has passive EQ, more like a Hiwatt. The B120 would have had active EQ but be potentially louder having 6 EL34s compared to 4 in the L100. IMO, the Sound City active EQ was horrible and impossible to get a good sound with. If I remember correctly, the early Hiwatts that The Who used were modified Sound Citys with only bass, treble and volume controls, no mid control.
