  1. Interesting video here of one way of doing it, if you've got the inclination. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28ITCMYO5sA
  2. I bought a brand new P in 1972 that did that. At the time, a rolled up bit of cardboard solved the problem.
  3. Just use 2 Hiwatts flat out through 4 off 4 x 12s with old Fane 50w speakers. There's the sound, no mystery. It'll be bloody loud though.
  4. Got no plans to see anyone myself, but our drummer's going to see the Troggs next week.
  5. Strangely enough it's the newest song in our set, new to us that is. It goes down surprisingly well.
  6. Black boot polish as had been said above.
  7. I bought my Guild Starfire in the early 80s. It was a 70s model, black and had twin pickups and they were definitely humbuckers, which is one of the things I didn't like about it. The new ones have single coils.
  8. Danelectro has single coil pickups and weighs not a lot, has a smaller body and thinner neck width wise. Guild has humbuckers and is heavier but not by a lot and has a much bigger body. Both are great basses but having owned both, I found that the Danelectro was a lot more 'fun' to play. The Guild is a much higher quality build, but is also more expensive. IMO, the Danelectro has a wider range of useable tones available. Does that help a bit?
  9. On the other hand, you could just wire the pickup straight to an amp and hold it above the strings and move it up and down the strings until you get the sound that you like. That will be the place to mount the pickup.

  11. I'm the best Bertbass type bass player in the world and no one can come close to playing just like me! I'm sure that you are the best Number6 type bass player in the world.
  12. All leads at the back of the stage go behind any backline and drums. All leads at the front of the stage run along the front and are taped down in front of the mics. All leads going front to back go along the sides of the stage and are taped down if needed. Any excess, which is normally front to back, is hidden behind the backline. All our leads are long enough for the largest stage we could possibly play so there is normally quite a lot of the leads left over but never seen and NEVER across the stage to trip over. I feel your pain and gaffa tape is your friend. Building multicores and stage boxes is a good idea but then it's more to carry, more to set up and more to go wrong.
  13. But I've got 3 sets of keys?
  14. When I started playing, vintage was state of the art and hifi. I would guess that adding a tweeter so you get more treble bite would now class as hifi sound.
  15. I'm selling my Samick P Bass copy as it never gets used. Pretty good condition and plays well. I'm after £85 posted for a quick sale. Thanks for looking.
