  1. I always thought that rehearsals were for going through the motions to find those silly errors so they can be fixed! Maybe I've been doing it wrong? 🀣🀣 PS: I like gigging....and rehearsing....and practicing.....it's just the very late gigs and packing away are the downside (but nescessary evil) πŸ‘
  2. Hey Mike, I vaguely remember a couple of similar threads on this very subject. If you have a quick search something should come up. πŸ‘ In the meantime.....I'm using SetListHelper Website which you can get for either Android (Google Play Android version) or Apple (you didn't mention which you were looking for). I'm using the free version and you don't need an account. You can store songs on it in a variety of formats. I use .pdf so if SetListHelper stops working / updating software etc I still have readable copies of the tracks. You store each track individually and then include them in set lists as required. I have a number of setlists depending on the gig / band I'm playing with. Hardware wise I'm using an old Samsung 10" screen tab which is held on my mic stand by an iKlip Holder which is pretty robust and flexible in its orientation. I dont use a foot controller so cant comment on them sorry. Hope this helps.
  3. For the last 30 years I have hung my basses on Hercules hangers with no discernable negative effects on my basses. The only time I have heard of any real life problems is when the screws into the wall fail 😒 or even rarer is that the foam used on the support reacts with any nitro neck coating. Will hanging my bass have a physical effect upon it eg: the weight affecting the neck etc.....nope! I base this on the strings having a total tension effect upon the neck of approx. 170lbs for a 4 string and 200lbs for a 5 string (at standard tuning). By hanging the bass by the neck it adds the weight of the bass to this (approx 10lbs) and would have negligable effect (~+5%) on the stress within the neck eg: no real world effect. You can check my maths by using the D'Addario string tension chart - here. There are no other forces applied to the body / neck of the bass when hung which could affect it. Remember....use the correct wall screws / anchors and you're sorted. πŸ‘
  4. I've just done a similar change to my Roscoe adding a DPDT to the electronics. I used one 12-pole switch which is like 2 of your DPDT glued together and operated via one lever. To wire it up I used the following diagram from Bartolini which seems to align with your colour coding. The bridge and neck switches are wired up slightly differently so that when you're in single coil mode it still has some hum cancelling properties (from what I understand). I couldn't determine if the Dimarzio switch you mention is Type 1 or 2 as it makes a difference to the connections made internally. Might be worth checking out. Hope this helps, Mike
  5. I do wonder if the people (b'stards!) who robbed the shop knew what they were stealing. I mean, if I was going to steal something I'd like to think I could sell it easily afterwards eg: the market for a knock off 70" TV is quite large (so I'm led to believe πŸ˜‡) whereas finding someone to buy a bass guitar is severely limited. Compound that with a number of the basses are stolen are Alembics which are a niche within a niche, highly identifiable and not hugely desirable by the majority of the bass community! Either they have been stolen to order or will have to sell them on at a fraction of their shop value. I would love to own one (eg: No 14646 5 string above) but know that if I was offered one and could afford it i would immediately know it's a knock off! 🀣 Here's hoping they find the culprits and get the basses back.
  6. I've always thought ZZTop were a band that included a hefty dollop of humour in their act. Anyone remember the furry guitars they used to play or listened to their lyrics (eg: Pearl Necklace!!)? 🀣 For me they always seemed to take their music seriously but not themselves. Anyone notice the barrels on the front of Frank Beards kit? My guessing is they're not there for the nuances of bourbon infused tonewood 🀣🀣 @Rich I know what you mean about some of the "luddite hate" and there are certain key subjects or phrases which trigger the same predictable responses from the same people.....ZZZZzzzzzzz πŸ’€πŸ˜΄ Trigger words and phrases include (but not limited to) ERB's, slapping, tapping, anything above the 5th fret, non-Fender basses, basses without a tort guard, any developments in bass guitar design since 1968, heft, valve watts, class D, tone woods.....🀣🀣 But I guess thats a whole controversial thread on its own! Anyway, I've now clambered down from my soapbox and back to the video.....always liked a bit of "You Got Me Under Pressure" πŸ‘
  7. Thanks, just downloaded it and now listening πŸ‘ Password if anyone is interested is "godislove" πŸ™‚
  8. I'm not sure it would intonate too well either 🀣
  9. Hi Kusku, The Sabre used to be mine between 1987 and 1998. I bought it used from Music Ground in York and eventually part exchanged it for a JayDee Calibas. The 2 necks were made in 1983. I've no idea of the John Deacon connection but he could easily have owned it in the 28 years since I sold it 😁 Here's an earlier thread with some more info : Sabre / Gordon Hope you don't mind me adding a few pics I have which shows that you have kept the bass in excellent condition πŸ‘ (I can remove the pics if you like?) GLWTS
  10. For sale is a Glockenklang 3 band preamp. I've swapped it out from my Roscoe so its now spare. All pots are pre-wired so only need to solder the pickups, jack and battery connections. Pots are: Volume - pull for passive / Balance / Treble / Mid / Bass Although the text from the Glockenklang site (below) says 9v operation the wiring diagram they supply shows also 18v option. Glockenklang Pre-Amp Text from the Glockenklang site: "Onboard preamp 3-band The GLOCKENKLANG 3-band onboard preamp is active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull), has a balance-pot with no volume dip in center-position, a treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical highcut in passive mode, mid-pot +/- 9 dB@550 Hz and a bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Battery-connection is 9 volts. Due to the high performance electronic, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode! It comes pre-wired with highflexible cables. Frequency range: 20 Hz -20 KHz Bass: +/- 14 dB@40 Hz Mid: +/- 9 dB@550 Hz Treble: +/- 18 dB@18 KHz Power requirement: 9/18 volts/2,3 mA Min. installation depth: 28 mm (1.1") "
  11. For sale - 5 off wood control knobs in great condition with grub screw attachment. Shaft hole is 6mm diameter. I believe they are ebony (but willing to be corrected πŸ™‚)

  12. Nope, still available. πŸ‘ They're currently stored snugly in my cupboard waiting for a new owner 🀣
  13. Stuart sold me yet another pack of strings. Easy deal with great packaging and fast shipping. This guy is consistent!! 2 thumbs up from me πŸ‘πŸ‘
  14. But you still can.......as long as you've got a good excuse for the farmer when he catches you! 🀣🀣 The careers advisor at my school usually guided people into the local manufacturing companies or if he could, would align your desires with a job in the forces. "You like meeting people?" thats the Police for you then. "You like swimming?".... suitable material for the Navy I think. I said I liked music and wanted to follow that pathway......"Army bands for you my lad!" I did apply for the army bands and managed to get 2 weeks work experience in the real army (it was something they did at the time) firing guns, push ups, night excercises, push ups, marching, push ups, assault course, more push ups etc. I was quite warming to the idea until I spoke with some of the regulars who informed me that as a bandsman you have to have 2 roles 1) the musician / ceremonial side and 2) first aider. Fine I thought, until they asked me where first aiders work..... usually front line with no weapons and only a little red cross on your arm to protect you (or double as a target! ) It was at this point I decided to re-evaluate my career options 🀣
  15. John just bought my EV SX300 speakers. Paid promptly with good comms. Thanks John, hope you have fun with them πŸ‘
  16. Stuart sold me a pack of Elixir strings. Easy deal with great comms and fast shipping. Thumbs up from me πŸ‘
  17. ......it is! 🀣 All quite friendly of course. Hello from another Aberdeen dweller. πŸ‘
  18. Maybe what I wrote didn't come across that well....oops! What I was meaning was the Helix Stomp is a box which contains both midi controller (although not as powerful as your Midium) and it's own sounds whereas the Midium is control only (no in-built sounds of its own). I suppose it all depends on how much flexibility / number of effects / racks etc you need to control. πŸ‘
  19. Lovely looking and well engineered bit of kit but I'm not sure I'd be interested at that price for (if i understand it correctly) a midi controller that doesn't contain any of its own sounds. I can see it being great for controlling multiple outboard pieces of equipment and changing parameters live. It's very tempting but I only need a pedal to change patches so it's a bit overkill for me. Good luck with it πŸ‘
  20. Ey up Royale! Welcome t'Basschat. Hope you find the info you're looking for. (Don't look in the "For Sale" threads.....it's a dark and dangerous place where your wallet will go missing 🀣🀣)
  21. Not the clearest of pictures but this was the rig / office for last Saturday in Aberdeen with my band Reloaded.
  22. Well done in keeping your cool and saving the day. Your post requires a "trophy / laugh / cry / facepalm" button all in one! 🀣
  23. Just been to the Blue Lamp in Aberdeen to see one of the many bands @doc40hz is in. It was his Level 42 tribute band "Mr Pink". This is the second time I've seen them and they didn't disappoint. πŸ‘ Great sound, playing, harmonies and as tight as a stubborn jam jar lid 🀣. If you get the chance to see them it's well worth going.
  24. Blimey Capt Jack's let himself go a bit hasn't he? 🀣
  25. I generally like what he does eg: presents pieces of music in a way that can be appreciated by a listener or someone who wants to progress and learn some of his technique. If he was jumping all over the screen you wouldn't be able to see properly what and how he was playing. 🀣 As with all music it won't float everyones boat. I've said it somewhere on BC before that "Electric bass guitar appears to be the only musical instrument I can think of that it is frowned upon to progress and get better and you must limit the notes you play." 🀣 Pianist: "I've got 88 keys available to use" Other musicians: "Knock yourself out. Use 'em all if you want and as a bonus you can play more than one at a time! " Guitarist: "What about me? I've 6 strings and 120+ different note positions?" Other musicians: "Yep, no restrictions either, carry on, lets see what you can do. Wait.....only one restriction, no playing of simple chords or we'll rip you to shreds for not being complicated or accomplished enough" Bassist: "I've got four....." Other musicians: "STOP right there! You may have four strings but you should limit your playing to the lower 2 and then only up to the 5th fret" Bassist: "But....?" Other musicians: ".....and no more than 4 notes per bar played with fingers or a pick. Don't forget we're watching you!" Adam Clayton: "But when I do that you rip into me???!?!?" πŸ˜•πŸ€£ As far as those who say "Jaco only needed four strings......he was but an amateur.....my Grandpop only needed ONE string and played one of these 🀣
