  1. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ....and here's me gaffa taping my strap to my bass for the last 40 years! Darn. You learn something everyday. ๐Ÿค”
  2. Lovely looking bass. I've noticed on a few GB basses that the rear strap button is in an unusual place, lower down the body. What advantage does this give / any idea why its there? Also whats the specs of the bass, weight, string spacing etc?
  3. You're right that ยฃ20 is good value for the event. I have attended a number of the previous shows and really enjoyed myself. However for many who want to attend and are outside London, the problem is not the ticket cost, it's the travelling, accomodation, food etc that we need to spend. For me in Aberdeen I have to budget ยฃ500 to cover this AND book time off and flights / train / hotel early enough to get reasonable deals. I am much less inclined to commit if I don't know who's on, when they're on or what's actually happening. If you think of the Bass Show as a mini-festival, lots of musical acts with other attractions and vendors going on around the perifery. If any other festival started promoting and selling tickets without also advertising who was the headliner or support acts, ticket sales would be dire. Who would spend ยฃ20 on a ticket never mind a lot more than that? I'm really hoping (like others) that they publish whats happening sooner rather than later to give those living in the distant wastelands of the UK (ie: outside of the M25 ๐Ÿ˜) a chance to plan and attend.
  4. Nice bass! Does your Dad fancy adopting me in time for my next birthday? Just askin' ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‚
  5. I would roughly cost it up as: Number of days away X band members X day rate + expenses (and costs for organising Visas etc) Example: 4 X 4 X ยฃ200 + expenses = ยฃ3,200 + expenses Day rate could be the cost of you being away from work, normal UK gig split or a combination of both. You may only be playing for 45 mins but if you are unable to take work / gigs on the 4 days due to being away you need to cover for that loss.
  6. I've been quite lucky to have wielded some impressive wood over the years (fnar) ๐Ÿ˜‚
  7. Am I the only one to see this is the "Emperors" model of this bass range? ๐Ÿ˜
  8. Just bought a Smoothhound wireless from Charlie. As everyone else on this thread says quick delivery and great communication. Recommended seller.
  9. Scotlands a big place ๐Ÿ˜ Where are you based? There's also this.... BCer's Prepared To Help Fix A Bass
  10. Good question ๐Ÿ‘ I'm not really after 4 strings, mainly 5's but might be persuaded for the right 6. Preference for 24 fret, active eq, 2 pickup. I'd like to try a Sadowsky Modern out at some point, maybe another Smith, Sei, Status or Mike Lull. Not really interested in Fender, Musicman or Warwick. I'm ok for amps and cabs but Vanderkley as px might be nice ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. Up for sale or trade is my stunning Shuker Single Cut built in Jan 2014. I traded my Conklin Custom for this bass in 2016 with LukeCapon off here. Jon Shuker makes some very high quality basses and this is no exception on the design, fit and finish. A new one of these would set you back around ยฃ3k. It is in excellent condition with only minor marks / swirls from playing and comes with a hard case. I'm open to partial / full trades. Letโ€™s see what ya' got. Alder body with buckeye facings and black veneer between top and body 34" scale currently tuned B to G Angled headstock with buckeye veneer - front and rear Gotoh tuners 7 piece maple / black veneer laminated set neck. 20.5mm deep at 1st fret, 22.5 at 12th, shallow 'C' section Two way truss rod with carbon fibre reinforcement Rosewood fretboard with 26 medium frets and 45mm brass nut Mother of pearl face and side dots Nordstrand Big Split pickups Shuker 3 band preamp: treble, mid cut / boost and mid freq stack, bass, pan, vol (pull passive) Schaller 2000 bridge, set at 18mm string spacing (can adjust from 17 to 19mm) Weight 8.6lbs / 3.9kg
  12. OK, thanks for the reply ๐Ÿ‘
  13. Nice bass but shouldn't you be playing guitar 'cos I can see the sun shining out of your.....Aaah its a stage light! Sorry ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜
  14. Nice bass.....check you title for price! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜
  15. Have a look at AMP Band I used to use them for my band. Reasonable price and helps you with documents for risk assessments etc. Never had to claim so dont know how good they are with that.
  16. Just tried it on Google and it was half the size compared to IE. Thanks.
  17. That took you a full 2 mins to reply....stop dragging your heels man! Thanks for the reply
  18. Over the last week or so I've noticed an advert for Elixir strings comes up 4 times the size of every other advert. I'm using Internet Explorer / Win 10 on a PC and don't seem to have issues anywhere else. No big problem, just thought I'd let the mods know :-)
  19. Most of the music shops up here have just the usual range of Fender, Ibanez, Musicman which don't really float my boat as they say. It does seem that the nearest place to me that has a range of basses is Bass Direct. I've checked out the websites for Guitar Guitar and the place in Manchester etc but very little jumps out at me ๐Ÿ˜ฅ Theres a few good luthiers up here eg ACG but its still a limited selection. I guess the 2 main places for me are the Gallery and Bass Direct, long may they both continue. Being up here I have had to buy most of my basses over the last 18 years over the internet without playing them first. A number have come from here on Basschat and I've always had good dealings with everyone. What a great place this is ๐Ÿ‘ On the other side of things if I did live nearer a good bass shop I would be skint and divorced I think ๐Ÿ˜
  20. Didn't get to Bass Direct this morning as it's a 954 mile round trip! โ€ฆ.but by not going, it did save me a lot of money....lol I'm planning on going later in the year when I get down to Cambridge to see family...yeah!
  21. Dear Mr / Mrs Myspace, I would like to apply for the senior position of IT Manager that has just become available. I am fully versed in the latest Spectrum and Commodore computing systems and have built my own Olivetti PC from parts. I believe that along with these skills and experience I have a novel concept to offer in the minimisation of business risk. I have named this philosophy and practical execution "Backup 101" and know that once I have explained the concept to you it will be embraced by yourselves with the possibility of selling it to other computer users. Best regards, Ivor Bacupavyoo
  22. ACS Pro17's for me thank you. Wouldn't rehearse, gig or be in the audience without them.
  23. I bought a Tama MS205 boom stand in 2000, have used it lot's and it still looks pretty new! They're not cheap at about ยฃ60 but worth it and long lasting. Tama MS205
