1.
The list you have looks pretty impressive to me, i love all them songs.
Need more though! Come on guys! Any and all suggestions welcome...
2. I've joined a new covers band (mainly to get me back into playing and gigging again) and we're aiming to be out gigging in the next couple of months. I'm looking for any MOR setlist suggestions for a band with no keys, just 2 guitars, bass and drums. Stuff that'll get the punters up and moving... We've got some older stuff covered (brown eyed girl, stuck in the middle, make me smile, etc.) but most of the stuff I've suggested playing gets shot down as the 2 guitarists (1 guitarist and a bluffer really) can't cover the keyboard/horn parts very well. Already have: Brown eyed girl Stuck in the middle Make me smile Honky Tonk Woman Brown Sugar Satisfaction You really got me 20th century boy I like to boogie Vertigo I feel good Sex Machine Can't get enough of your love Proud Mary Fortunate son Dakota Angel of harlem She's electric Glory days Hurts so good She moves in her own way Fall to pieces Mustang Sally Midnight Hour Burning Love Shook me all night long Hard to handle Jailbird Sweet Home Alabama Mr Brightside Summer of 69 Long train running Chocolate You're all i have Most of the rockier stuff is getting watered down/boogied a bit as the drummer is quite adamant that it's not going to be a 'another rock band'
3. Lakland Skyline JO5... nothing else really comes close IMHO. YMMV.
4. Both excellent basses. Both feel the same (other than where you can place your right hand due to pickup differences). If it were me I'd opt for the 55-01 and spend the difference putting Nordstrand pickups and a better preamp in it... Electronics seem to be the 55-01's only weakness, but that really is knit-picking to say that as the standard pickups are fine. Have you considered a Joe Osborne 5? It's be my pick of the Lakland Skyline 5 strings I've played, although I haven't played the DJ model...

Adee's feedback

Just received a bass from Adee. All went smoothly. Good guy to deal with... And I've never seen a better packed bass!
6. Definately Celestions....

SOLD !!!

That's a strange one indeed... Not sure it's even an L2000 body... or bridge... and it seems to have sprouted an extra knob (ooh err missus!)... Looks good though! Bet it sounds like the dogs balls though - never heard a G&L that didn't!
8. Those little SWRs are great. I had one years ago (older shape) and have always regretted selling it. If you were closer I'd take it in a shot, even though I don't need it! It's a steal! Somebody get it bought!
9. It wouldn't/doesn't put me off either!
10. This is a cracking bass. I played it in the gallery when it was there. I was poor at the time or it would have walked out with me! I have a Shuker being completed in the next month (and a budget breaking Lakland in the post to me too) or I'd take this now. The inlay might put some people off, but not as much as if it said 'Colin' or something! We're all 'Randy' at some point! Funny, the pickups ARE worth quite a bit. Guys in the states would kill for 1 Lane Poor MM pickup, let alone 2! Good luck with the sale
11. These basses are rather awesome. I have one of the 3 in the UK, which I've also converted to passive. It's now my main bass, having sold off a Wal and sidelined my Warwick (until I next play some metal anyway!). And the neck is to die for...
12. Hi Dave, I recently tried the Ibanez ATK 5 string. It's similar to a musicman 5 in sound but the neck, to me, feels a little narrower (I had a MM5 a few years back that went because the neck was too narrow for me). I think you'd go a long way to find a better deal than one of those (under £400). I almost walked out of the shop with the 4 string version (which for me blew away the 2 stingrays hanging next to it!). For your requirements stay away from a Lakland - much too wide (and right up my street!) Hope that helps Cheers Ian
13. Slight correction Dave. There were only ever 23 of these! The 24th was too heavy so didn't make it out of the US factory...
14. Just bought a Digitech Bass Synth Wah from Dan. Easy transaction, good communication and quick shipping.
15. Can't comment on the G&L or DJ, but the 55 and JO Lakland necks are superb and, in my experience, superior to the Stingray neck, which I find too narrow. I'd have a Skyline JO over some much more expensive jazz type basses (Sadowsky for example). Just my 2p worth.
16. Just bought an Aguilar GS112 cab from Gareth. Great guy to deal with, and a super nice chap to boot.
17.
Wow, that is one the ugliest basses i've ever seen. Whats it like to play?? Jake
That was a helpful observation... Good luck with the sale!
18. Ashdown made a shortlived powered sub to take advantage of the sub out. Warwick did the same. A PA sub would be an option, but surely just adding another cab would be easier? You've got 500 watts after all - do you need more?

ignore

I'm aware it's a bit early for a bump, but that's lovely. I do hope you don't end up disappointed, and get the sale you're looking for. All the best.
20. There's a double battery box route on there already and it's a full size control cavity too so loads of room for adding a circuit at a later date.
21. Grrr.... Does that answer your question?
22. After a bit of indecision I'm going without a preamp on this bass. In the last few months I've gone passive on all the basses I own so I'm keeping this one simple too. Just VVT for me, although if this changes I'd think yours would be number 1 on the list Alan!
23.
Sounds like another great bass in the making ... Just assume 30 weeks build time and then if it's 25 you'll still be happy
Starting to look that way (30 weeks!). Here's pics from a few weeks back, although I've just received them. The top has been stained since these and Jon's made the ramp (wenge topped with quilted maple). Looking forward to getting my hands on this beastie!
