Hi Guys, Just an initial feeler at this stage. This'll probably be available mid or late April. Being based in Northern Ireland, equipment like this isn't widely available or recognised so i'm advertising here with a view to possibly delivering to your door (depending on your location) or meeting half-way as part of a road trip to pick up my new Shuker in Sheffield when it's finished (hence the mid to end of April availability!). Down to the nitty gritty! Tech Soundsystems ND412S 4x12" + Tweeter 1200Watts RMS @ 8 ohms 30" x 27" x 17" 26kg/57lbs Great cab. VERY loud (103dB sensitivity according to the website - loudest cab I've heard) and VERY light for its size. A pretty easy one person lift. Quite a rare beast this one. It's 8 ohms but don't let it put you off - with the AGGIE it's almost capable of punching down walls! £600 Cab is AS NEW. Never gigged, only been out of the house twice to band practice. This is a kickass cab, but it's just too much for my current needs. -
Can you post contact details for the guy who built these for you? How much did they run you?

Hi Guys, I've just joined a new covers band and I'm not great at transposing songs in my head to suit singers with a less than full range so would prefer to learn songs by playing along. Does anyone know of a free program that could change the key of recorded music for me to jam along to? I know I could get midi tracks and change the key but would prefer recorded music - a bit more real-world... Cheers Ian

I have an ashdown ABM combo and, although the amp definately has enough power to cover most gigs, the internal speaker is utter pants. 1 10" speaker is never really going to set the world vibrating though! The way I think of it is that it's always better having enough power and not needing it than needing it and not having enough. If it's any help there was a 500 watt ABM 1x15 combo for sale in the classifieds for £250... If I lived on the mainland I'd have it in a flash!

No probs. Keep it in mind though. They are an awesome cab and very light for the size. Mine'll be for sale on here in a couple of months.

I've to make a trip to see Jon Shuker about the end of March and could deliver it in the Midlands (ferrying it from Northern Ireland)... we could maybe work out a deal for your tech 15. Is it 4 or 8 ohms? PM me if you're interested...

Peavey 2x10s are 4 ohms, but they're pretty heavy...

Nonsense. If you're still considering a custom built neck with a different scale length then you don't have to move your bridge at all - it doesn't matter where you're bridge is, it just matters where the frets and nut are in relation to it. As long as whoever is building the neck makes all measurements in relation to the current bridge position then everything will be fine.

+1 on Flanker's point. I played Flanker's Celinder the same day he did in the Gallery, and it definately wasn't lacking anything... (I thought it had Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups though)... To date it's the only Jazz bass I've played that's better than my Joe Osborn Ltd Ed (that includes USA Sadowskys). I thihnk that one is a little odd looking with the reverse headstock and vintage body styling - but if someone was to give it me for my upcoming birthday then I wouldn't say no!

A quick read on TB has revealed that the 800/750 are the same amp: Definitely will run at 2-ohms. 400-watts at 8-ohms 750-watts at 4-ohms 800-watts at 2-ohms 21 pounds-ish Me wants one!!! EDIT: Sorry Robbie, hope I'm not stepping on your toes here? -

From the talk an Talkbass there's an 800watt version in the works which'll be 600watts at 4 ohms (close to current t'funk specs), 700watts at 2.67 ohms and 800watts at 2 ohms. A downside for some guys on talkbass seems to be that the 550 can't handle a 2 ohm load - the 800 is supposed to be a response to that. My question would have to be: has the 800 developed into the 750 and is 2 ohm capable, or will there be 2 separate amps? Dood there's been more talk about a preamp and it looks like it might be happening. Dave's also talking about a 1600 watt into 4 ohm bridgeable, 3 unit head! NICE! -

The DB750 is reputed to be quite Thunderfunk-ish, but a bit fatter (both sound-wise and physically!) so that'll maybe give you an idea of what to expect (I know you owned the Thunderfunk that Bassjamm's selling at the mo' - an it sounds GOOD!)

Too cheap at £350. I have one that sounds identical to this (EMG pickups and all) - I sold my Wal because it wasn't getting used. That's how good mine is... -
I have the single channel version of the Aguilar AG500 amp. Great amp. Loud enough for anybody and sounds great, but It's quite clean (as with a lot of solid state amps). I'd like to add distortion of some description, but I'm not much of a pedal fan any more. Would someone have a dual channel AG500 they'd be interested in exchanging (with cash your way of course!). Would have to be in AS NEW condition with rack ears, same as mine. I could add an AGRO preamp I suppose, but it's another rack space and quite pricey in the UK! May consider trades for a Thunderfunk also (but nowt else I'm afraid) Cheers Ian

Solid state basically means everything that isn't valves! Having heard my Ashdown alongside an SVT3 I would say you can't really go wrong with either for what you're looking for.

The SVT3 is the SVT-PRO with a solid state power amp added Jamie. Might be a good option. Try an Ashdown though, it might be all you need.

SWR use the same principle in their interstellar overdrive preamp I believe. Always thought it was a great idea!

Oh... sorely tempted! If I hadn't just put the deposit down on a Shuker I'd have your arm off. I've got this one's fretted twin already... A great deal here lads. You'll not get a better bass under 2 grand. Mine forced me to sell my Wal through underuse!
