1. You're all being horrible to JT. Frank
2. The Fender Rumble 500 watt combo is feather-weight and not too expensive. It sounds good to my ears and you could add a Fender 2 x 10 cab for bigger rooms. Although a light cab and amp is an easier carry in my opinion. Frank.
3. That's a little too heavy for me. I have back trouble, like many other bass players it seems. Mine has the rosewood fretboard with MOP block inlays, which seems to be rarer and less popular too, but it weighs a little over 9lbs. I hope you enjoy! Frank.
4. Don't let the fact that Nobody's Prefect is in Finland put you off dealing with him. I bought a cab from him last year and the deal wet very smoothly. Frank.
5. Lovely bass. These 75RI have a wonderfully slim neck. In fact, mine has the nicest neck I think I've played bar none. Frank.
6. I use them on all my basses. I like them more than "real" straplocks too. Frank.
7. Cool story. Enjoy your reunion. Frank.
8. You're likely to get hit with import taxes adding about 25% to the cost. Be careful... EDIT Oopps, beaten to it. Frank.
9. Beautifully made basses and very elegant designs too. Yum. Frank.
10. Also putting Araldite around the screw before screwing it back in is a very permanent fix. Frank.
11. Unbeatable service and good to hear about your experience. It's nice to know the man behind the gear you own, as opposed to a faceless company. Long may Alex prosper. Frank.
12. The P pickup on my US Jaguar sounds as fat as my US P bass. They're basically the same P bass sound. The new US Jaguars are very versatile but some might be put off by the complicated controls. They're fine though, as long as you don't find the combination that leaves you with no output at all. That's a weakness I the design in my view. Frank.
13. I'd agree that the new Fender combos and cabs are lovely warm sounding kit. What about a pair of Fender 2 x 10 or 1 x 12 cabs and amp of your choice? I've never heard an Aguilar TH500 but they seem to be well thought of. Frank.
14. The SM and BB2 do indeed give you three options as mentioned above and they also pair up very well. One other point (with an apology if you already know this), but the horn knob on the BB2 operates counter-intuitively and is "off" when you might expect it to be "on". But it might be only me that thinks this. Frank.
15. Great work! I really enjoyed that and the video production is excellent. Nice playing too. Frank.
16. The BB2 and Super Midget is a very versatile rig - and never wanting in tone - even at higher volumes. In truth, for my gigs (even the odd festival stage) I think a single BB2 would easily be enough, but I like having a small, medium and big rig for any eventuality. Frank.
17. I don't believe anyone can tell what the material used in the speaker magnet is, by just listening to it. Frank.
18. Mesa gear IS expensive but very well designed and built to last. And you only have to pay once. My Walkabout is very solidly built using quality components, is well designed and should outlast me. Frank.
19. I'd also say Warwick, say a Stage 2. Or a Spector LX. Or a G&L L2000. But I could be misunderstanding you. Frank.
20. Kevin, There is a difference in sound between a BB2 and Super Midget. Both sound great but the BB2 is deeper and smoother a sounds bigger. It feels like it fills a room with bass more than the SM. After saying that, the SM alone is amazing as well but the BB2 just gives an even fuller sound. It's hard to put into words but I hope that helps a little. Frank.
21. Beautiful Jazz. Your Precision is identical to mine. A classic colour combo. Frank.
22. A good choice. An American Standard Jazz is hard to beat all round. Strange that you didn't like the neck on the 75RI. Mine has the nicest neck of all my basses although I do like my American Standard Jazz as a great all-round gigging bass. Enjoy yours. Frank
23. I read it exactly the opposite... unless you're reading between the lines? He says "not at the expense of tone and performance." (My emphasis.) Frank.
24. Since you aren't getting much response I'll chip in my experience of ownership of 6+ years of a G1 Compact and G2 Midget and now owning a G3 Super Midget and G3 BB2. All the above are excellent cabs. I could still be happy with the G1/2 cabs but circumstances conspired to make me change my cabs last year. Firstly, based on my BB2 I imagine a G3 Compact would carry 99% of my gigs. They are loud and full sounding on their own and any louder you should really be through the PA. Still, having a Compact and Midget gives you 3 rigs meaning you're 100% sure you can cover ANY gig. A Super Compact + Super Midget would be great sounding and very loud - if that's what you need, and flexible for the smallest to the largest gig. My BB2 always gets used if there's enough space and it has never disappointed. My band love it. I've been told by the band never to sell my BF gear. Anyway, if you didn't like it you could return it and get your money back but I don't think you'd be doing that from my experience of Barefaced. Frank.
25. Same thing happened to mine. I found one of the loom connections loose. Might be worth just giving them all a little wiggle just to check this. They do also cut out automatically at high temperatures. Hope you get it sorted. Frank.
