  1. Sorry Richard, I wasn't meaning to be patronising... My thought is to give the BB2 some time. To me, yes, it can sound HiFi, but can also sound "vintage" if you want it to. Sometimes I roll off the treble, turn off the horn and to me, that's into "old-school" sound. I like HiFi better though. I also have a pair of BF one10s. I like these cabs but not when they start to break up. My preference is for the BB2 - for me, it's a more versatile cab. Just give yourself time to get used to it. Frank.
  2. Also, try turning the horn off. (Fully clockwise) This makes the BB2 sound very different. Frank.
  3. I'm another one who would replace all my gear with the same as I have now - Quilter BB800, Barefaced cabs and some variety of US Fender Jazz or Precision. No effects at all. Actually, I have a USA Fender Vintage Hotrod Jazz (P pickup in the neck position, J pickup in the 70s bridge position.) in Candy Apple Red which I've gigged 99% of my gigs since I got it a couple of years back. That one was only made for a year or two so it might be hard to find another.😨 Frank.
  4. Haha. Yes, I was thinking that a G3 Midget is a very loud cab just on its own. You'd rarely actually need two. Frank.
  5. There's your answer. I have a G3 Midget and it's a very loud cab. I doubt you'll get a single cab that's louder than your G3 Midget. I also have a G3 BB2 which is deeper sounding but I don't think it's any louder than the Midget. Save for a used Midget. πŸ˜€ Frank.
  6. You WILL NOT buy a better cab for this money - a bargain! Frank.
  7. Superb music. I enjoyed the drumming especially- but it's all lovely stuff. Frank.
  8. Maybe if you heard your cabs from the audience/ back of the room, you might find the bottom end is just fine? I suspect that could be the case. Worth trying before parting with any cash? Frank.
  9. Yes, I love my white one too. I see no reason to sell it - even the weight, which is more than any other bass I own, isn’t a problem, due to the good balance. Great basses indeed. Frank
  10. Identical to mine. They are excellent basses and the controls are simple really, but very effective. I hope you enjoy it. Frank.
  11. Also, I used a rubber washer to stop any scratches. Frank,
  12. Yes, you could drill a new hole and reverse the pivot and stop positioning. That will work equally well. Also, you can have the extension urging up or down as suits you best. Frank.
  13. Two carbon fibre extensions are now somewhere between Belfast and the mansions of Planemo and Chilliwailer. ☺️ You should have them in a few days chaps. Frank.
  14. Hi Nathan. I'd forgotten about this.πŸ˜• As it happens I think maybe Chiliwailer did too because I never got his address. Anyway, I still have two spare extensions and if you and Chiliwailer (If he still wants it) PM me your addresses and I'll send them to you both. The only problem I have is that I'm really busy working this week, plus I have a cousin from Australia staying and I head to France on Saturday (with the Steinberger ☺️) I'll do my best to get envelopes and stamps this week but apologies if I don't get this done this week. If not, I'll post the last week in September. Frank.
  15. OK, I'll offer two very loud amps for your consideration. One has all the bells and whistles and the other is simple and has very few controls. Both are excellent and very loud. Reidmar 750. Quilter Bass Block 800. The Quilter is really great value now from Thomann at Β£475. Frank.
  16. Thanks David. A little to far for me. 😞 Good luck with the sale though. Frank.
  17. Where would collection be from please? I've been waiting for one of these to come up. Frank.
  18. I know what you mean Chris2112 - I'm equally lazy... I've got a Musicman US SUB that's a little, ahem, roadworn so has little value. It's a great playing and sounding bass though so I'm happy for it to stay, even though I rarely gig it. (And I can take it to rough dive bars and not worry about damage, although I also rarely place s**thole bars either these days. ) Also I have a MIK Warwick Streamer LX4 which is built using German parts and is in perfect nick. It's really too good to part with as it's worth so little for what it is. It's a fantastic bass that punches well above it's value so it can stay put. Selling and posting is just so much hassle. 😨 I might give it to my son eventually. Frank.
  19. https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/northern-ireland/watch-fedexs-northern-ireland-delivery-drivers-filmed-kicking-and-throwing-parcels-37020120.html Would this put you off posting a valuable item? πŸ€” Frank.
  20. On the other hand - I have an XT-2 with pickups marked "Select, designed by EMG" and they sound great. Maybe it's the amp/cab I use or maybe how I play, but I've no complaints about how my XT-2 sounds, plays or with the build quality. I made a strap button extender from carbon fibre, which improved the playing position greatly and now I gig it occasionally when stage space is at a premium or I'm going to a gig on the bus. And it was cheap to buy (used) as well. Frank.
  21. Yes, I understand completely. Sometimes peace-of-mind is more important than money. Frank.
  22. Interesting. Thanks for posting. I've seen this only once before, on a USA Musicman SUB bass that I own. It was easily fixed by a few taps with a mallet, so hopefully it won't cost you too much to fix yours. Frank.
  23. Just as a matter of interest - did you ever recieve pics of the raised frets? It would be interesting to see them. Frank.
