1. Initials is an awful idea, unless you are in a financial position where you can guarantee never needing to sell the thing, and also that you could deal with not taking the financial hit should it fall out of your favour and you would want to sell.
2. I'd get Jens Ritter to make me something tasty
3. It's difficult to say, there are plenty of otherwise average songs where the bassline really makes the song, or that the song would not be the same without the bassline, I'm thinking Billie Jean, Hit me with your rhythm stick and various jamiroquai tracks here.
4. Not got this kinda cash, do have a good kidney going spare though, any trade interest? (Blood type B+)
5. I'm in west london and have a thin necked, lightweight bass for sale, marginally out of your price range. Thin necks are also a priority if lightweight isn't. I'd recommend Ibanez basses wholeheartedly.
6. Ibanez is always a solid suggestion. Low weight is key here for a 12 year old, which is why I think the SGC Nanyo was a great thought. They are great and can be bought cheaply enough, and the weight won't be a problem. Squiers can be a bit heavy IMO. My first bass (aged 13) was as heavy as a concrete slab, not ideal at all!
7. This bass is worth it for the pickups alone. You are of course more than welcome to come and try mine if you're interested!
8. But fortunes can be changed. Tanglewood were not exactly high in my estimation a couple of years back, yet with the beautiful instruments they are creating for Overwater, it really shows what they are capable of - no one on here would give them bad rep for those.
9.
I quite like the D shape on my LX, took a while to get used to but it does have a certain charm once you get to know it.
I like that mine is a flattened D, far more comfortable for your hand than a sticky-outy C IMO.
10. Hi there Bert, hopefully you enjoy your time on here. We are fortunate enough to have an ex-Cynic touring stick player on here, perhaps you'll end up talking to him at some point!# Dan
11.
what about a thumb?
oooohhhhhhh good shout
12.
The solution to your quandry is simple. 1.Get your Ampeg amp back. (Why would you ever give it up for Orange??) 2. Get a Fender, G&L, Squier or Burns Bison bass 3.Get rid of that wimpy Gibson and worthless PV !!!
I was going to like this and agree with it wholeheartedly, then I read points 2 & 3. Get a Fender is some of the lamest advice I've ever heard!
13. That is jaw-droppingly gaw-jus, Nigel. What a looker, and I'm a sucker for ebony too! Bet it sounds fantastic as well! Congratulations man, hope it treats you well.
14. I would quite like it if they did more than 2 basses and other bitsa basses. If they actually come up with something genuinely new, I might respect them a bit more.
15. Oh wow, a vintage-look TB with 5 strings, that is unbelievabley lovely, I wonder if they do it in white, or spaceman sparkly orange? Still hate that whenever I want to look at Sandbergs on there, all I get is Mayones and Clovers.
16. bumpage, still up for sale guys, this is worth it for the pickups alone! only selling it because I really am a 5 string man, and this beauty deserves to get played!
17. Spectors have that sweeeet holoflash finish no one else does!
18. DPD have always been awful every time I've used them. They have downright lied to me at times, and on other occasions their driver knocked but was incapable of using the doorbell right next to the door (I live in a flat, as is evident from the address they had, and was nowhere near the front door to hear knocking). dv247 use them, which is a shame because I like dv, but hate DPD, I guess they must be quite cheap.
19. Just had a noodle on my Warwick, and I've gotta say, I'm no great shakes as a player, but I was just blown away by the tone I was getting plugging straight into my amp. It was genuinely fantastic. I love Warwicks, is all.
