1. So a lovely Epi Thunderbird Pro-IV was dropped off to me today by the postie. Being a fleabay job, it's got a few dings, but seeing as I got it at 165, I'll deal with it. This isn't just a porn post, so read below! Got a strap put on her straight away, as I go to stand up, the neck strap button, screw and all comes out of the hole. I also noticed there was a hole with a similar issue next to it, where the screw threads have become so worn, the screw just goes straight in and out without any purchase on the sides (see pic). So, I assume I need to filler and paint over these, as well as placing a new strap button somewhere else. So questions: Where do I put the new strap button? I know these things are notorious for neck dive, yet I've been told placing the button on the back of the body fixes it, but where abouts? Any BCers done this themselves and got a perfectly balanced TB? Bear in mind this is a T-bird Pro, and is neck through construction, not bolt on, and may be balanced differently (Mahogany wings on a 7 piece walnut/maple neck). How do I go about putting a new strap button hole in? Hand tools, drills, or just take it to a guitar shop (how much will they do it for roughly?). I have no tools myself, though it's not beyond the realms of possibility that I could go and be cheeky down in my uni department workshop and ask them for a tool loan. Finally, I've been looking at custom pickguards. Plenty of places do them in all sorts of varieties. Warmoth I understand only make them for their own TB-style bodies, though does anyone know if they'lll fit my bass. Then again, plenty of other sites, wdmusic, and guys like this on ebay ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Gibson-Thunderbird-I...#ht_2228wt_1139 ) say that these do not fit Epiphone basses. Yet this guy here ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CUSTOM-metal-BASS-Pi...#ht_3009wt_1139 ) says his does fit many Epi TB's, including my specific model. So what's the story, anyone know of any that particularly do or don't fit? Why would someone like wdmusic say theirs don't fit epis if they do (i'd imagine they'd sell more if they did). P.S. Not associated with either of those listings, just using them for reference. Thanks, Dan
2. Very tempted mate. If you can hang on until my student loan is through, (28th) I'll think about having it.
3. Ok sure, figure out the postage and I'll drop you a Paypal payment. Send me a PM with the total figure?
4. So, here we have a few hideously grainy photos taken in my poorly lit room on my poor iPhone camera of my rig, which has come together today! It comprises: A Trace Elliot Series 6 AH200 w/GP12 Pre-amp. Purchased for a cheeky £175 off fleabay. Anyone that knows these amps knows that the 200W rating belies how hideously loud they can be, reviews frequently state how they put 400W+ non-trace's to shame. A Marshall VBC 412 cabinet (rated 400W at 4ohms). Delivered today for £255 by our very own forum member Andy Blowers. It's huge in size, weight (49kg) and most of all sound. Andy put his Fender P through it for a bit when he dropped it off and he will testify its shaking of the room with the trace barely turned up to 2/10. I think it looks sexy, sounds sexy, and hopefully you can enjoy these pics. The head of my warwick can be seen in some of the photos, left there as a reference for size (the cab didn't fit under my desk lol). P.S. This means my little Laney RBW200 combo will be for sale soon, anyone interested can drop me a line for info, or there'll be a proper thread in the appropriate section soon.
5. Andy just delivered an earth shattering Marshall VBC 412 cab to my house. For a very fair price, and even threw in a lead I needed. A pleasure to deal with and always responded very quickly. This thing is absolutely fantastic with my trace...
6. Give me all your lovely feedback!

8. I live in London, no way you could post this? And as for the IEC connection, is that just a kettle lead? I'd want to plug this straight into the mains ideally, it would be a big help for my pedal collection which has recently swelled from 2 to 4.

12.
THat would be the thing which I dislike the most
It stands them out from the other models. A very nice touch in my opinion, but I can understand why some wouldn't like them
13. Here they are: Left to Right: Dean Edge q4 w/Bartolini pups DeVille bass (purchased recently for £25, SoundControl before they went bust) My pride and joy, a 2006 Warwick Custom Shop 5er Corvette $$ (would have the 5th string if the hot pink DR string wasnt too fat to fit through a Warwick saddle) - the custom bit is just the quilt top, she's the nicest balancing and sounding thing in the world, so versatile it's unbelievable, if you haven't tried this model yet, do so! My first bass, a Cruise Crafter MM copy, equipped with Steve Harris sig strings (seriously heavy to play) I'm unsure of the sofa's origins, other than the landlady got it for us when we complained about the old ones...
14. where are you at man? I'm in SW London.
15. If Jakester doesn't have it, I'll probably take it. In London so courier would be necessary. Will PM you shortly.
16. If you can find a sensible courier to get the cab to london (SW6 1SJ) all in for a sensible price, I'll be game.
17. No way I could pick it up. How much would postage be with the bass? Or is the bass part of the pickup only deal?
18. In PM discussions. BACK OFF EVERYONE ELSE! ;-)

20.
Is that an epiphone thunderbird or gibson? I have a "well used" thunderbird I might let go of.
Either, though realistically my budget stretches more to epiphone, see my post in the wanted, section!
21.
Not quite on the sofa, but with my DIY skills they could be very soon Sorry for the crap pic from my mobile!!
That a gibson or epiphone explorer? my she's lovely!

Wow, she's a beaut. Shame I'm broke or I'd have this in a jiffy. Student loan coming through at the end of the month is in grave danger.
25. thanks musicman, anyone know if musicianforums is still going? have any of the old users migrated this way?
