1.
I'm technically not very good, but I have no problem at all expressing myself on my bass. I can play anything I want. The only time I want to improve is when my guitarist comes up with something I can't play fast enough with my fingers, but don't want a pick sound for.
It's one thing to contradict yourself across multiple posts in a thread, but to contradict yourself twice in the same thread just shows that, as with previous threads, you have nothing particularly constructive to contribute and are just being contrary for the sake of it.
2.
Anyone bringing a Boss ME-50B? I'd love to have a fiddle
I'll be coming to the bash to do a bass swap with Burpster. I have to head straight to rehearsal afterwards, so I'll be bringing my rehearsals/small gigs rig with me Tech ND212 cab Tech TVM600 head Boss ME50-B Fender MIA Deluxe Jazz V with Audere JZ3D 3 band I'll bring my Boss Loopstation along as well for a laugh.
3.
I wonder if they do an 88 string bass, with an iron frame to withstand the tension. You could play it with both hands whist sitting down? Hamster
Yes, but it would need a snappy name like, I don't know... ..a harp.
4. I feel a sporting analogy is appropriate. I'm a keen swimmer. I try and swim everyday - 40 lengths in my lunch break. I'm no slouch - I'm faster than plenty of people, but I'm certainly not a professional. My favourite stroke is front crawl. I'm not very good at backstroke, don't really like breast stroke and haven't even attempted butterfly. That's not a problem. There are plenty of pro and semi-pro swimmers and I often encounter them when doing my lengths. They swim faster than me and often for longer. There's obviously a demand for whatt hey do. They're taking something they enjoy and pushing themselves to the limit. Also, they feel the need to train as hard as they do - either because that's the level they need to reach and maintain or because they feel that if they don;t work so hard, someone else that does will overtake them. So, unless the people criticising Mr Gwizdala are professional jazz musicians, I don't see how they can be qualified to comment on whether 1) There's a demand for such music 2) Whether Mr Gwizdala's practise regime is appropriate or excessive 3) Whether Mr Gwizdala's advice is accurate.
5. I've checked my bass. The current pickups have staggered pole pieces, which makes a huge difference. I'd want the replacements to have the same, so it's Fender SCNs I'm afraid. Thanks for looking though.
6.
Gotta agree with Kev. Folks will start using this as eBay for free!
What do you mean will start?
7. ...I'm more interested in the idea of a bargain 1000W head.
8. Hello, What's the control layot of the Audere preamp? Regards
9. Any decent music shop should be able to knock one up for you. You could also see if Paul Arrow head can do one for you. He'd just need a trace from the existing plate with all screw holes, truss rod bit and pickup holes marked out.
10. Mexican basses can be very hit and miss - I've seen some absolute shockers make it past QC. The Thomann no quibble refund may be invaluable this respect. Alternatively, go second hand - you get to check it out first and you get plenty more bang for your buck. £315 would get you a very nice mooded Mexican precision, Japanese or maybe even a Highway 1- all of which would be far superior to a stock Mexican example. I believe there are several up for sale at the moment.
11. In his blog he comes across as an intelligent thoughtful individual and, basically, an all round nice person. He can't play the bass - I'm sure there are worse crimes. What is interesting is this clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ua9nQwFD2uc...feature=related Proof that in the right hands,aWishbasscan sound very nice indeed. I still wouldn't ever contenmplate buying one. The most unorthodox instrument I'm every going to own in Burpster's Fender HM Bass.
12. Might you be interested in trading for a Stagg 3U rack bag - it's brand new, bought it less than a month ago - never left the house. Also, when you say it wasnlt an exact match, is that because the pole pieces are too wide apart or too narrow? I set the spacing on my Jazz as wide as possible. Would you be able to let me know the measurements from the edge of the pickup to the first pole piece?
13.
Just looked at the Tech website. The 1x10 and 1x12 are candidates. Where can you buy them from?
Don;t forget that 'Tech' no longer exist and are now called TecAmp. I don't know of any UK TecAmp dealers - they used to be distributed by the Bass Merchant, but he now produces his own range of cabs. Bass Centre Germany might be able to help - they have some Tech gear still in stock and also stock TecAmp stuff.
14. My Tech cabs are fine - 9 hours rehearsals a week and, pretty soon, a gig every other week. It's not how light they are, but how well made they are anyway and the Techs win on both counts.
15. No, a very good one in fact. Thank you for the PM by the way. You have a reply. Now, shall we leave this person alone to try and sell what is a very nice bass?
16.
Well, what would you consumer affairs experts do here or am I asking too much? Ashdown still have no spare MAG transformers. I've been without the amp for 6 weeks now waiting on repair. I don't think that's reasonable. Each time I ask when to expect the transformers it's "two weeks". Needless to say I'm not too impressed with Ashdown. I've suggested they source an off-the-shelf transformer if they can't provide their own (I'm sure some equivalent exists) and have now asked they simply exchange the head if they can't repair mine. No response to either. Exasperated bloke.
Can you not try and wangle a loan from Ashdown? It's the least they could do.
17. I wouldn't bother with a rack bag for anyting over 4U. Even 4U is pushing it- every 4U bag I've owned has ended up in the bin! If you want light and portable, you could get two smaller rack bags or cases - one for your head/power amp and one for your outboard gear.
18.
I've got the moulded case for my USA Jazz deluxe, I'm no fan of them... It's a battle to get it shut, the rectangular cases are way better IMHO
Are you actually interested in buying this bass? If not, [s]do the rest of us a favour and shut the f*ck up[/s] please refrain from commenting on the hard case included.
19. Guidelines for the Marketplace - Guidelines for buyers, section 4 . If you have a problem with the price of an item on the forum, stating it in an aggressive way on the thread undermines the sellers listing. Often however feedback on fair pricing is useful and constructive. Bear this in mind and be considerate and vigilant. If anyone is seen being aggressive or SERIOUSLY overpricing an item them you are best off sending a PM to the member and to a moderator. The best policy is that if you do not like the price, move on. The seller won’t sell and you avoid any arguments.
20. Thank you for a smooth and friendly transaction. 'Tis a lovely bass.
21. Do you mind driving from Shropshire to the Dorset coast?
22. I think the extended's T&Cs are probably the result of his dealings with some of the kinds of ebayers we love to discuss on this forum. He probably gets hassle from every seller asking him to fiddle the value of the instrument on the customs declaration. The same buyers would probably then get shirty if the instrument they've bought gets trashed in the post and the compensation is about enough to buy a replacement made of balsa wood.
23. You definitely have a PM now. Original one sent to wrong person.
24. the very helpful Bassthing68/BT68/Thumper who can now be found on Finnbass was very nice and stamped 4 holes in a Badass II of mine to enable it to be used with through body stringing. If you contact him via Finnbass he may be able to help.
