3.
I got told by Bernie Goodfellow the shop had shut down. I never actually went to the London shop, as I'm in Manchester. But I can honestly say the branch that was opened in Manchester a few years ago was doomed to failure. The site for the shop itself was right out of the way, couldn't be seen from a street, no parking, was the size of a broom cupboard, etc. etc. etc. So if the Manchester one was anything to go by, it's hardly surprising the London one's gone the same way.
The Wapping Store was right out of the way and that was part of it's charm. You figured that if you were going to visit a shop specialising in bass gear that involved eithera lengthy drive or a complicated trip on public transport, you might as well make a day of it and so you spent hours in the place; time you spent psyching yourself for a big purchase. There are plenty of other big music shops around. Take Andertons for example. Not that difficult to get to from central London, loads of stuff to try out, 2 hours free parking outside or a full day's cheap parking in the church car park over the road.
4. A limiter/enhancer won't make a bass sound active. It's designed to smooth out unwanted peaks in your sound and prevents any nasty spikes in the sound. They have even more of a place with active basses where it quite easy to dial in extreme amounts of bass and treble. Used sparingly, a limiter can make a huge difference to your sound.
5. Yes, but was it an inevitability because that's the way things are generally heading or was it an inevitabilitybecause the shop has been a pale shadow of it's former self after relocating from Wapping. I loved the old bass centre and really enjoyed the odd trip up there. I also bought quite a lot from them. I still regret the day I saw two Vigier basses, a Passion 5 in blueburst and a Passion delta metal fretless in black and went for the fretless. I reckon I'd still have the 5 to this day.
6.
sorry to be a dick buts hes doing free delivery atm so its not much more
Don't upset him too much. He might throw his toys out of the pram and start sending you stroppy PMs.
7.
Morning folks, not very good weather for taking the bass outside today! it is freezing here in Galsgow, blowing a gail and I could swear Noahs ARK has just passed my window! I'll just leave the bass in doors today.....
Do you take it for walks or something?
8. show him some photos of Nikki Sixx, Gene Simmons and Michael Anthony surrounded by a bevvy of scantily clad women. Once he realises the loose-totty pulling potential of the bass guitar (potential I've yet to experience I should add) he'll open up in no time.
9. I don't even need to visit your myspace page to know that you're Dead Kennedys fans. Excellent taste!
10. Thanks for your offer. Thing is, the 4Ohm cab would allow me to get the full 600 Watts from my TVM600. Regards
11.
I dare you to buy it...?
The wife would kick my b*lloks off. I already have 2 very nice cabs anyway. Still, I have left a few shameless plugs for it dotted around the forum, so who knows.
12. Be aware that the Audere JZ3 is designed for passive pickups. So, if you do go the EMG route, you'll be limiting your preamp options a little.
13. Going off on a bit of a tangent here, but st3-me/ste-m3 - you know who I mean, has a Hartke Pro series 2 x 12 up for grabs for the measly sum of £245. I'd be very tempted, as a first effort to try a different cab with the HA3500. Benefits It's a 4Ohm cab. That's the full 350Watts from your Hartke head into It might pair up better with your Hartke head 2 drivers, one of which is angled, which means better projection If it doesn;t work out, I don't think you'll lose any money selling the Hartke & cab as an entire rig.
14. Even so, £245 for a cab of this calibre is a spunkingly good deal. 2 x 12s really are the way to go.
15. £35 for an Ashdown head? Got to be worth a punt.
16.
it might be because the other guy is selling his tf550 for £400??
Can't help yourself can you?
17. I'll take Johnny Cash - the man in black collection 1 CD Children of Bodom - hatebreeder Dragonforce - inhuman rampage Lostprophets - start something Coheed and Cambria - in keeping secrets of silent earth: 3 PM me total damage. Do you take paypal or gregory?

I don;t want the head - got two of them, but that 4 x 12 would make the ultimate 'concert rig' Anyone interested in buying a Tech Mini 15 so I can justify the extra expense?
19.
Having just taken delvery of a wonderful C.A Azur amp, my lovely A1 MK3 SE is up for sale. A respected seperate that has been tweaked by those folk at C.A. I think its 30W per channel which is more than enough for front room hifi and studio monitoring (hence advertising it here) . Yours delivered for £50 The normal A1 model is featured on the CA website http://www.cambridgeaudio.com/default.php and there's a good few reveiews n' stuff on t'interweb. Haggle me. Dan
Does this one feature the phono stage? I'm one of those strange people with a sizeable vinyl collection that I like to listen to from time to time.

Could go for a song.
21. +1,000,000 for Steve Rowse. Incredibly knowledgeable and fair and he has the patience of a saint.
22.
i'd pay the full 70 for this ;<
You have a PM.
23. Guitarist in my new band plays one. 7s are a difficult beast. They can easily sound like total mush and it takes some careful EQing to make them sit nicely in a mix. A decent head helps. We tune to drop A and every sounds clear. Tell your guitarist to try out an Engl powerball. I reckon they sound much nicer than a dual rectifier. Probably cheaper too.
24. Chessington, Surrey. I've never up cambs way, so it'll be a case of posting.
