1. Some excelelnt scales to play with Meditera The Hijaz (Hitzaz) scales is also known as Spanish Phrygian I believe anyway, have fun. And remember that you have to play them in 7/8 (3-2-2) to make it really authentic.

3. I had my bass pleked a year ago. It's good, but £145?!?!?!?

5.
I love my Modulus, no dead spots......fantastic. I've always found Sei's to be great basses, I've never played one that had dead spots, how would removing the frets and levelling the fretboard cure the problem, and what actually causes the problem in the 1st place. As regards the choice of preamp, I had an OBP3 in a Roscoe bass a few years ago, that was quite 'boomy' sounding, it had a very prominent low mid bump. I have a John East U-retro deluxe in my Modulus, it's probably the most versatile pre that I've tried, it sounds great with the Bart pickups.
I was informed that deadspots are caused by gaps between the frets and the neck. The luthier who told me said his solution was to plop a couple of drops of glue into the fret slots to ensure that there is a good bond.
6. Amp modelling was all the rage 2 years ago - Vox, Line 6 everyone was desperate to get in on the act. A former bandmate of mine, now living in the states, summed it up perfectly. He said Line 6 stuff was a fad. Granted, it has it's place and for a lot of people in tribute bands or doing session work where you need to nail a specific sound and a close approximation will do just fine, PODs are great tools. Unfortunately, for a lot of people, having umpteen amp and cab models, effects, biamp capabilities, etc... just detract from the most important part - namely turning up, plugging in and playing. As for Fender gear. Well, guitar brands like ESP Ltd, Dean, Schecter Diamond Series all kind of sound the same - basswood or mahogany bodies, EMG Hz pickups, etc... whereas a strat, tele, precision and jazz have completely different sounds and you can get so much variation out of a couple of volumes/selector switch and a tone.
7. I have a Line 6 Bass POD XT Live in padded Line 6 bag that I simply do not use. Would anyone be interested in swapping for a decent overdrive, such as a Sandamp bass driver or PDI plus some cash my way? I'm also looking for a modulation or filter type effect, such as a Digitech Bass Synth or a decent favour. Anyway, you get my drift. Regards

A MAc G5 vs what looks to be a generic home build PC or similar. Hardly comparing apples and apples is it?
12. Just had a quick peek on www.amazon.co.uk and they sell Leatherman goods. Why don't you enquire about setting up a Markeplace account with them? You'd probably do much better than on ebay, which has always had the air of a dodgy market stall about it, and probably get a better class of customer.
13. This is the second time in as many weeks that a new member of the forum has been given a less than warm welcome. Also, lecturing someone for not posting in the introduce yourself forum when you haven't done so yourself is somewhat hypocritical.
14. Maybe he posted both for sale topics and was about to think of a nice story to add to the introduce yourself forum. However, the trolls that frequent this forum all clambered over themselves to criticise him so he thought 'f*ck that' and hasn;t been back since. 'Home of deep discussion'? More like a village full of stranger-hating yokels.
15.
Cool, thanks. Is that the one on the 9th? I have no idea what Mark is booking at the moment...
I think it's 9th November at the Arkright Arms. The Walkabout have ditched their promoter and with it all of her bookings, hence the move. Reminds me, I need to pester Mark about our next rehearsal.
16. If my mother died, it'd absolutely destroy me and the obvious person to turn to to replace the gaping hole it'd leave behind would be my wife. If you're a proper friend, you'll sit him down and ask him straight. A lot of bands fail to get anywhere because of personnel issues rather than ability. Fact.
17. Expert Village is wicked. Things are definitely funniest when comedy isn't intended.
18. I use a mixture of thumb, index, middle and ring with the ring finger either adding speed or different rhythmic options on fast lines (triplets, flicks and mutes) or making string crossing cleaner and quicker. the extra fingers allow for better muting and ghost notes, which give playing more life and character.
19.
USA Fenders are going for under £500 at the moment, so what the hell's going on here....? Chris http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fender-Jazz-Bass-Rep...1QQcmdZViewItem In fact, I've just found the same neck new for £119.00.
How much would the tuners, string tree, drilling and lacquering add to that though?
20. Why doesn't someone from this forum just drop him a line saying that you missed out on bidding on the item and haven't seen any feedback relating to it and ask if the deal fell through. Also say you thought it went a bit cheaply - you were looking for a MM5 Sun and would be happy to pay £450 odd. He then admits he still has bass for sale, offers to sort something out and you e-mail evidence to ebay and get his arse banned.
21.
I was recently refered to as a 'purist' by one of my lecturers. By this he was refering to my preference of older valve gear, passive old vintage sounding pups and exclusive use of two finger picking on stage. I've always known i was a bit retro in my goings on but now i got a tag!! I have to say i like the idea of mabye trying to keep alive perhaps what might be seen as 'the old way of playing' by hardcore dbl thumpin', slappin an' a poppin, tappin an' a shreddin bass players. Does anyone else think of themselves as a 'purist'??? Anyone at all prod of that as I am?? Tell us why you like the ways of times long passed....come on...i can't be the only one.....
One person's purist is another's luddite...
22. So if I were to get a new pickguard made I could easily return it to two lipsticks? Sorry, I appreciate the Darkstar is probably vastly superior to the stock pickup, but I've always thought the original surfcaster was a thing of beauty.
