its passive and i guess most preamps would be fine, retro, audere, aggie, duncan, etc

The Bart MM's are really nice, I have one in my 'Thingray', and I had two in my Corvette $$, But they really do benefit from a preamp, Barts are really quiet passive! They come alive with a decent preamp!

I'm using a 2 band East preamp in my Thingray
