Tastes change I guess, the world and its wife want classic Fenders and clones thereof. Warwick still make some fantastic instruments. I love my Corvette even tough I'm a Precision man at heart.
+1 With regards to Fenders being flavour of the month. They are the one instrument that has remained a constant.

Save my sanity! Am looking for the prodigious lightweight rig!

What about these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Warwick-WCA112ND-WCA...id=p3286.c0.m14 -
Thank you everyone. Removing the neck was the first option I gave the propective buyer, but some people are a bit funny about this. Don't know why. If neccesary, I can always slacken off the truss rod a littleto reduce tension when there are no strings attached. The buyer is in Munster. I'd best check the Air Berlin site before they go under.

Could anyone help? I migt need to send a bass to Germany, but I'm finding it hard to get an exact or reaonable price. Has anyone here shipped a bass to Germany? Who did you use and how much did they charge? Thanks.

19" rack bag by Rockcase (Warwick)
bassbloke replied to franzbassist's topic in Accessories and Misc
Depending on what you're looking for, I'd suggest visiting this site for a gig skinz rack bag. Really well made and most of what they have is half price http://www.flightcasepro.co.uk/Gig-Skinz/Gig-Skinz.php -
If you can live with carting round a step transformer, this is a seriously lovely sounding amp for the money. There's very little, if anything, comparable to 'the SWR sound', especially with the 800Hz cut and aural enhancer and gain given a hefty boost. Do you happen to know how much cost would be involved in replacing the power supply? One of the major selling points of the Bass 350, for me at least, is the fact it'so small and light (it'll fit in a shallow rack bag, which is a nice touch). The external step down transformer negates this benefit.
I'm still trying to contact him and if your Ric floats his boat then we'll see what we can do. re. the avatar pic - one more comment on BC and I will be considering contacting a 'lookeelikee' agency for work... of course I've now shaved so that'd have to grow back
It could be worse. Imagine if everyone said you looked like Peter Sutcliffe

I have a HM series bass with a 3 way switch and I don't have this problem, so maybe that's the solution. Plus, it's dead easy - I'm sure most people simply don't need THAT level of control and a quick switch between pickups would solve the problem.
No you don't... ebay trick #42. You agree not to complete the sale and eBay just take your listing fee. You can of course relist it but using the same friend(s) to do this regularly gets one/both/all of you banned!
That's completely dishonest and reprehensible, but nevertheless fantastic simply because it's one in the eye for ebay.
Or the owner didn't think it was going to sell, got 2 of his mates to bid it up and thus artificially inflate the final price. Will be intersting to see if it goes back on eBay in the next month or two. Just call me cynical...
Why on earth would you do that? It just means you have to pay ebay 10% or whatever the percentage demanded as final value fee of what you didn't actually make on the bass.
I like that idea
My back is feeling decidedly healthy at the moment, so perhaps we could arrange a temporary swap - my tech 15 and head for your 4x8 combo. A couple of weeks of that should see me back at the chiropractor's in no time. P.S. Only joking - I've only just managed to get my mate's V-Type combo out of the house and back into storage. The wife would lynch me if another one appeared.
Totally OT, sorry - shame you can't make it tomorrow, hope the talk goes well!
I get to stand up in front of a room full of people involved with a major Deaf children's charity and tell them that we're giving them £80,000. Should go down quite well. I would have liked to pop along. Guildford is so much more convenient than Northampton and the Travel Inn probably smells nicer than a rehearsal studio. -
Overall the guitar market is overheated. There are alot of brands with very similar offerings often owned by either the Fender or Gibson cartels. Logic dictates that some brands will be rested, many were only recently revived for retro appeal. Setting yourself up as a luthier seems to be almost a middle-class pose in the UK and there are some very marginal back of garage operations (often in solid body electric guitars). I just hope that any contraction will preserve the real craftsmen with a different take on building. However the cynic in me expects buyers to gravitate to the safety of Js and Ps. Am looking for bass2 myself at present, just haven't found that perfect combo of looks and sounds...
Not just the guitar market, but the market in after sales service. Some established luthiers, etc.. are charging silly money for setups, fret work, etc... Now, whilst I appreciate that you generally get what you pay for, I refuse to believe that one luthier is 2-3 times as good as another, which is what the different prices would have you think.
I'm interested, have you got a shipping quote to mainland uk? R
Russ, if you're interested in hearing how they sound, you're welcome to pop up and give my Tech 2 x 12 or mini 1 x 15 a bash to get an idea. Tech gear sounds amazing. I'm afraid I can't make it to the bash tomorrow - I have to give a short talk in London. -

There will undoubtedly be plenty of people with reservations about the authenticity of this bass, so there's a god chance it won;t fetch us much as it would if the seller was completely upfront about some of the 'changes'. So, all the more opportunity for a bit of a bargain

Bargain US Fender Highway Jazz for £300
bassbloke replied to Clarky's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Some people find the whole business of dealing in cash quite unpleasant. You have to stand there holding note after note up to the light to ensure the buyer isn't trying to pass you a couple of fakes. It's pretty much tantamount to accusing said buyer of trying to rip you off, but you never know, so you have to go through the whole rigmarole. Also, the seller knows you're genuine and not some tyre-kicker who's going to turn up, find a whole load of non existent faults and walk off without paying. -
Where do you buy these cabs new from? A 4 ohm would be ideal for me! Do they handle low freq's well...i.e. Dub sounds???
I have a 4 Ohm Tech 2 x 12 and it certainly does handle low frequencies well. I frequently tune my 5 string down a step or drop the B down 2 steps and the 2 x 12 more than copes. I even went as far as tuning down a step and dropping the Bb down another step and it was still fine. I don't know about the 1 x 12 - it's a smaller enclosure, but the 2 x 12 has the drivers stacked vertically and has excellent porting. -
Is this not sold? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=150293948909
Seller pulled bass from sale to trade with me. We both agreed in advance that we would temporarily swap basses to see if we were happy with the deal. After a coulpe of days we both decided that the swap wasn't for us- I didn't want a 6 and Mat didn't think my bass was right for him. It's a lovely bass- great sound and a real bargain. Mat is very nice and any prospective buyer need have no worries.

+1 for trades of relative value. My sister frequently goes into Primark or wherever, spunks a load of cash on clothes and then promptly returns it all for a refund. Her logic is that she has satisfied the part of a woman's brain that needs to spend money unneccesarily and can therefore return the goods. I was thinking that an idea along similar lines would be temporary swaps. For example, person A is GASsing for a P -bass whilst person B is gassing for, I don;t know, a lightweight combo. Said basschatters arrange a swap for a few weeks. In all likelihood, person A decides that actually he doesn;t really use a P bass, returns it to it's rightful owner collects lightweight rig and all is well, for a few weeks at least.

I'm noticing a trend with your list. If more people were willing to accept the clear distinction between great musician and great songwriter and that being one OR the other is still an achievement, we'd be spared an awful number of, well, awful solo albums
