[/quote] Yes, looking back at my first post on the subject, I did say it was for the older generation cab but should perhaps have made it clearer that I wasn't implying that the new ones would suffer from poor QC. I suspect they went through a bit of an iffy patch. It does also seem that the customer service was good where there were faults. Haven't used a Schroeder myself, it was one I've considered and I don't think I was put off by the reports.

If he didn't use any synonym for faeces then assume it to be a compliment. Note that the suffix "-hot" is a qualifier which reverses a synonym for faeces into a compliment.

ISTR there was mention somewhere (here or TB, can't remember which) of the build quality of the older generation cabs deteriorating.

In the ceilidh band I played in, I changed between a fretless Warwick Thumb (with roundwounds), a NS WAV-4 EUB, and an Ashbory Mk I. You might consider one of the Harley Benton bass ukes, just as something rather different and somewhat uprightish-sounding.

All our gigs are for money (charity ones excepted, but they've got to be proper charity, not someone playing at being a promoter). We rehearse for two hours a week and I practice a bit at home, mainly when learning new material. As we've got a surfeit of songs, some don't get played for a few gigs, so those get brushed up at rehearsal.
