  1. Well, I'd like a zero-latency MIDI bass, but not enough to wait that long or pay that much. But if there's a couple of thousand bassists worldwide who don't mind waiting that long or paying that much, and they're a small enough operation to only turn out one or two basses a day, you'll get a long queue. What's the wait for a Jaydee at the moment?
  2. I've bought a few things from Thomann. Some time ago, a deko HB 5-string fretless acoustic bass which was perfect, and more recently a B-stock HB headless guitar and a B-stock MOD Dwarf, both of which were perfect and immaculate (as far as I could see).
  3. A new approach to wadding?
  4. You should be seeing something from maybe 8k ohms to 16k ohms from each pickup. That order of magnitude, anyway. Can you extract the pickups and check the wires at the other end?
  5. Oversized jack plugs and why they should be thrown away Jack plugs with springy bits on them and why they should be thrown away Best strain relief method and best way of folding in the metal tang type ones Right angle jacks to use and to avoid For patch cables going onto a pedalboard, does installation cable offer any advantages over instrument cable?
  6. No, he's only got up to the 6th fret. And it's got four strings. And he's not tapping.
  7. Have you tried the Boctaver in v3.50? I haven't but it has been mentioned.
  8. I just found that video. Three pairs of pedals - I couldn't tell the difference between the Tube Screamer and the clone, although the guitarist could. Could definitely tell the difference between the RAT and the Mosky Black RAT, and thought (like the guitarist) that the Mosky sounded better. And I couldn't tell the difference between the Klon and the Mosky clone, and the guitarist couldn't either.
  9. Only used once on each guitar it's been on.
  10. I had one (might have been the unprofessional version). Pros: tall enough for a Warwick Buzzard. Cons: poor quality for something so expensive, it broke.
  11. https://www.giggear.co.uk/guitars/guitar-accessories/guitar-stands-wall-hangers/stagg-tripod-guitar-stand.htm Also works if you see the light and go headless.

  13. I am not, by any means, a Fender enthusiast. However, this seems to me like an instrument rather than a collection of parts and it would be a shame to split it up. I hope it finishes up with someone who will just clean it up, get rid of the gaffa tape (and do anything that needs to be done in order to do so) and play it like it is. The body is nice, an early one before Fender started just routing out a channel to the pickup and relying on the pickguard to cover it all up.

ECC83 is a dual triode and the EL84 is a power pentode. The pins would be completely different, the only common pins would be the heater. Oops, hadn't turned the page and read @Woodinblack's reply.
  15. Updated mine a bit earlier. First attempt was completely unsuccessful, second attempt didn't seem to do anything (did a factory reset at this point and it was still on 3.15), third attempt produced audible clicking of relays in the Stomp and it rebooted. Did a reset, restored global settings and presets only from the first backup. Experimenting will follow.
  16. Tamworth lost some excellent venues well before Covid. Tamworth Arts Centre, Casa Bar, Rockwells, Tavern in the Town. The Rock Festival ran for many years but eventually died.
  17. There's also Lynx - https://custom-lynx.co.uk/ who I've had a few cables from when I was feeling lazy or didn't have the plugs or cable to hand.
  18. I was wondering what all the fuss was about. I can't think of anything more ordinary and unexciting than a black P.
  19. Hmmm, I can see a problem there. Jack's a right-hander.
  20. That's an ancient thread resurrection. I haven't tried a Spector for years - when I did, I was impressed by the quality and they were quite affordable, but I couldn't get on with the necks.
  21. Yes, got that now. I was assuming a constant depth shallow channel for the truss string which would place the top attachment for the tension string vertically above it in that diagram rather than offset by Y.
  22. I'm not in a situation to go amp-free because I have no idea what PA any band I'm in will have, but I have gone to a combo which offers 500W from 9.5kg (that's three furlongs and 25 barleycorns in old money).
  23. So the truss cable runs at a diagonal from the bottom securing point to somewhere on the jutting girder side of the building? I see what you mean, that would exert a greater lateral force.
  24. Think of the neck as a skyscraper 20m thick. On one side is a girder sticking out 2m, on the other is a channel 2m inside the wall. One cable is attached to the end of the girder, the other to the ground directly below it, and on the other side, a cable is attached to the top of the channel and to the ground directly below. Tension is put into the cable attached to the girder. The integral strength of the structure will resist the bending but it will end a bit. In order to provide an opposite tension of sufficient force to exactly balance that force, the tension in the cable running in the tunnel will need to be 12/8 times (1.5 times) that in the girder cable, as the offset from the centre of the skyscraper is 12m in one case and 8m in the other.
  25. I was at a mini festival a couple of years ago and somebody sang a song he'd written called "I hate Margaret Thatcher". There's nothing like being topical with protest songs (see also "Dirty Blackleg Miners").
