1. Easier to change a bolt on
2. It's all about a corporate identity for photshoots and the like. Status Quo eventually resolved itself into, essentially, just Rossi & Parfitt but there are other long standing members eg Bown and Rino.
3. Last pair of gigs before our drummer goes to India for a couple of weeks. Both in venues that really weren't big enough for us so the bass bins were out of the question both gigs. Last night was bizarre, had to play in the lounge of a pub that was essentially an extension built on to another building. Like playing in someone's front room with a bar stuck on the side. Once we were set up there was room for about 4 tables of people. At least it didnt take many to get some atmos going. Good feedback after and a guy who came to check us out said he'll try to get us in at another nearby venue we've been looking at as it has good reviews and bigger than last night's. Agency job so reasonably well paid but we wondered if the booker thought the band contacts (vox/gtr) were still gigging as a duo rather than a 4 piece. Having said that there was a poster in the gents suggesting an 8 piece soul band had played same venue. Mind boggles, maybe horn section was outside?
4. Two in current band, on a hercules double stand. We do a few songs detuned a whole step so that's what bass #2 is for and I can do a quick swap over if they are both within easy reach. We don't quite run to techs handing us replacement instruments when we need them playing pubs...
5. My Ric can get a bit sticky in very warm humid weather but they insist on putting a million layers of laquer on the whole body & neck...
6. Blue says can he have one with 'Sir Paul' in the middle and 'everybody else' on all the remaining stations please?
7. Time for me to post this again, not wheeled it out for a while. Disturbing...
8. Carole Kaye might be a bit miffed she's not at the epicentre of absolutely everything though.
9.
So I have coming an EBMM USA Sterling 4HH in black with a rosewood board and matching headstock - sometime mid next year.
I'd no idea you could get a rosewood headstock...
10. And all that whilst someone sounds to be taking random shots at her...........what you mean 'that's the drummer'?
11. For modern blues you can do worse than pick up a cheap second hand copy of this: https://www.amazon.c...s/dp/B000RC1FDM The Hal Leonard Blues Bass book is a very good starting poin too, comes with a playalong CD.
12. I'g go along with the first couple of responses from bert & dave. There is always the temptation to rack up the volume to try to 'force' the sound round the venue and it never works. You just end up pissing off those that have been drawn in for a look early in the set.
13.
Agreed, however Jig Saw they look like a British band for some reason. There is a YouTube clip. Very pop sounding. Blue
They were indeed British, mostly from previous club bands based around Coventry. As they were a 'bitsa' band from other bands the name Jigsaw seems appropriate. Good live act in their day apparently but slightly before my time. I learned Sky High once for a jam session, nice tune in amiddle of the road fashion. I think they were a bit heaveir live.
14. No gig this sat (think it was some double booking cock up by venue but we knew about it a while ago) so I'm sneaking up to Rotherham for a CRS gig featuring Cairo and Luna Rossa,
15. Can I edit the thread title after I've created it?
16. Interesting how different folks hear different things. I thought the bass drum was boomy and drowning out bass guitar for all of them but less so for Dare compared with EB and Europe. It's always going to be a challenge in a space like that with the high ceiling though I've heard nice mixes on TV from some of the BBC's electric proms there. I did spot a tech going an dfiddling around in th ebass drum a couple of times, maybe readjusting bass drum mic positioning?Good show all round, decent day out if a long one (set off to pick up my mate at 9:15am sat and got home at 2:45am on the Sunday). Quite like the most recent Dare album but the only other I'd heard was their first way back in mid 80's. I think (pre prof) Brian Cox was on keys back then...I prefer Bag of Bones to War of Kings so it would have been better for me if they had done BoB in full but I can see why they did the gig as they did.

We have our very own KB trib bassist right here among our own...
19. Saw CT twice, once as headliners at Rock City and then supporting Deep Purple at the NEC. Good solid performances both times. One of my favourite gigs last year was the Von Hertzen Brothers so I'd like to see them again when they next tour, I expect it will be 2018 at earliest though.
20. Apparently the gig's sold out so at least a few people still into the music...
21. Bring someone who needs a ticket
22. Quick bump as I haven't had time to advertise this elsewhere. Sensible offers for 1 standing ticket. As the gig is this Sat I will have to hand it over on the day but I will be around Camden area some time before the event so no problem if you are in the area and want to pick it up from me and pay then.
23. He ordered a Fedora and got a Trilby.
24. I've tried to make an effort with my latest project to list the upcoming gigs. What I've tried to do (and I'm not saying this is how it should be for everyone) is keep a single thread going and just keep going back to edit the listing on the first post (I tend to list all upcoming gigs for the next or current month) rather than creating a new thread for every single gig which I think just clogs the section up. If I think the thread is slipping too far down the pages I can always bump it back up with some spurious post which is valid as the edited gig list should always be up to date and thus relevant.
25. Always liked this one... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieQZoY9PQlY
