PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO MAKE FUNNY JOKES ABOUT 'THIS ONE IS SO LOUD IT GOES ALL THE WAY UP TO ELEVEN' OR YOU WILL BE ESCORTED FROM THE PREMISES BY SECURITY STAFF WITHOUT A REFUND (is this actually the cynical smiley?? it's the closest i can see so it'll do for the moment thanks)

 4.
Sorry guys each to there own but nobody will convince me that this is better than Jamerson, or take that
nobody was suggesting that something is better than anything else - its all just varying shades of preferernces and differentness innit personally speaking i completely 'get' holdsworth solos but as for the khanate link above ... i do hope somebody had the decency to check to see if the poor hippy screaming on the floor was ok and didnt need an ambulance or anything drastic
 5. just been link hopping around the tube and stumbled upon.... LEE SKLAR credits http://youtu.be/3xuYWMNHCdc
 6. loads of demos on that there youchewb - the parameters can be adjusted so it doenst necessairly need to make you sound like Cher went to try out with a new band last week and the singer had one - although she didnt need it for pitch correction, the harmony and loop settings are pretty useable - i was impressed anyways if it will do the trick of getting the punters to come and compliment rather than criticise its 200 notes well spent imho
 7. would he very upset if you tactfully introduced one of these between his mic and the mixing desk? http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1043
 8.
pretentious rambling if you ask me. Technical ability isn't music.
miles was fantastic - worth a dozen jaco's imho try this one - if you dont liek miles skip forward to 3 mins where the sax and bass solos kick in and the groove picks up http://youtu.be/YclDl7dhxHQ

 13.
If it`s purely looks, the Gotoh isn`t a bad swap. Looks like an updated more modern version, plus costs about 25% of a Badass.
+1
All of this =100'000'000 yet people bang on about the tone diference it may or may not make
changed my bridge over for a higher mass version - gotoh or similar something on a J and there was a definite improvement - not massive but enough to notice i dont know .. all these people who bang on about hi mass bridges not making any difference whatsoever! even if it sounded like the best elusive bass tone ever i still wouldnt put a badass on a P if somebody gave them to me cos it looks fugly never mind what it might sound like

 15. maybe the americans only list serial numbers imported/sold in US - mine is a korean trb1004 and is not on there either and the japanese site doesnt list anything below the trb1005
 16.
Sadly it's just another example of Google's desire to be as intrusive as possible into one's private life. I, for one, deplore it and them.
DUCKDUCKGO
 17.
The adulation.....the gratitude......I'm sick of it.
this
 18. have you reported it lost (with serial numbers) to police? something of this sort of substantial value ought to be handed in to police otherwise it is deemed to be theft by finding as any reasonable person ought to know that it is not wihtout significant value - if the original owner doesnt claim it from police within 28 days then it lawfully becomes the property of the finder (so make sure you go back to the local police station to check regularly) if it should then turn up in a crack converters or similar emporium you will still be able to go back to police and report that youve seen it and hopefully claim it back from the shop as it is still lawfully your property - the shop may well put up resistance but the police should assist with recovery
 19.
I play guitar and synth as well as bass. I don't know if playing the guitar makes me a better bass player but being able to play other instruments makes me a better overall musician and song writer.
this personally i would add that learning early on about the basics of music theory and reading dots is a great help too
 20. back in 78 ish me and my mates used to think of dr feelgood as pub rock - probably because a great number of local gigging pub bands at that time were doing the whole feelgood/9belowzero thing but at the same time i never considered be bop deluxe a pub rock band despite them possibly self-referring as a pub rock band in their early stages with the lyrics to axe victim describing one of their own gigs in a Hull pub going particularly pear shaped)
Aye he's a top quality guitarist, wish I could be there, but sadly York is about 300 miles north of me these days. Dunno if you've heard this before, but it's a great cover from another great guitarist who you'd think was very unlikely to cover a BBD song.
great cover!
 21. think i posted this before but couldnt find it so here is again - its in 4 parts and some useful stuff (for lectronic noobs like me anyways) http://youtu.be/92G-jw4TqS4
 22. hmm yes - been a brinsley schwarz and nick lowe fan since 70s and be bop for that matter - must admit thats the first time ive heard of be bop referred to as pub rock though have said it before on other threads and will say it again ... he is one of THE musical talents of this country in recent years , amazing songwriter and guitarist in fact of all the bands ive seen over the years ive not seen a guitarist who can play and sing as well as Bill Nelson - imho he ought to be up alongside the likes of SRV and EC
 23.
Love Rotos. Always used them and always will. Great tone for the money I think.
i thought the tone from the regular rotos was good if only marginally less bright and zingy than the swing bass but on my bass the tension of the rotos seemed noticeably more than the swingbass (35inch/trb) - maybe it was all down to the tension - they do seem 'less rough' now theyve been on a couple of weeks though
 24.
Elixir for me. They sound great and last the longest out of all the 'coated' strings i've used. Plus, everything else feels too rough to nowadays!
i usually buy rs66 swing bass sets but couple of weeks ago out of economic necessity i got a set of the roto's for half the price of the swingbass rough as a badgers thingy! think i'll wait and stump up the cost of the swing bass in future - buying online is fine but when you have a great music shop in town i prefer taking my custom there and supporting them so the choice is limited to ernie balls or rotosound lol
