1. its a BBCBC british broadcasting corporation bass conspiracy
 2.
Sometimes I drop out in the middle of songs, just to see how long it takes for the other members of the band to figure out why they sound sh*t all of a sudden.
or if they are all dithering and farting about take the initiative and just start playing and let them all come in - i did this one time when the drummer and bandleader couldnt organise a pissup in a brewery and decide what was the next song and who was counting in so i just started playing - the brief fleeting look of panic on their faces was priceless - you can get away with it quite often especially if its the sort of thing where it sounds ok and the punters wouldnt realise anyway - something like valerie or gimme some lovin town called malice etc etc
 3. i have no hair to speak of but edit - is it still raining down there?
 4.
Not very impressed with No Treble. The Atlansia Solitaire was bass of the week sometime back using my photographs of my actual bass without even bothering to ask permission or providing at photo credit. A polite email asking them to acknowledge this and put it right has so far seemingly been ignored.
just send them an invoice for the image use
 5.
Jazz for me, although only just. I'd see about sneaking a P onto the island with me too. Probably give me a B-15 Portaflex to play them all through too?
you may have any rig you choose (see my late edited OP) and then use all the old trace and markbass rubbish to build a nice raft or sunlounger or something more practical
 6. i have an illustrator file of a Jazz body if you want a copy as an .ai or.pdf file
 7.
P or J? What exactly is the difference between them? Which one is best for a desert island? Where is the desert island and would this affect my choice? Is the J best for Jamaican reggae and the P best for Puerto Rican soca and bomba grooves?
may i recommend here
 8.
You're welcome.
well i did say i thought the J comes with the brunette wonder what she did with the body?
 9.
How about a PJ ?
how about you go play on the beach with charic's conche shell collection that he doesnt want anymore? actually that just made me ponder..... we often hear of peeps putting P necks on the J body but ive never seen a J neck on a P body unless of course anybody knows different ....
 10.
A nice Y O B 1964 Precision. Of course I will need an amp and electricity!!
is this yours Mr H? its gawwwjus whats it doing down by the skirting board? have you got a bass playing mouse in your house? eeek - oh hai i is in your skirtin boards playin all your basses - thanks for all the baby cheezis
 11.
Can i have a girl there instead ?
yes but she comes with a P im afraid (i think the J comes with the brunette)
 12.
Nah, I've tried them and they just don't suit me
you'll just have to play with your conche shell collection on the beach then
 13.
J basses are too skinny necked so P for me
i always used to look at them and think to myself 'that neck looks far too skinny it'll never play comfortably for me' but here i am 20 year later <3-ing my J and i find it quite comfortable - i find the bridge spacing more of a playability issue than the nut spacing and iirc the bridge spacing on P and J is the same - ed - fwiw i dont dislike either i rather like both immensely but the J has the edge for me
 14. P or J or nowt? for the purposes of this vote we shall assume stock items no sandbergs sadowskys or other gorgeous bespoke or boutique imitators thank you edit - for what my crappy ill informed opinions are worth im fully expecting this to end as a very near 50-50 split and if it deviates more than 55-45 i would be very surprised late late edit - assume that electricity is provided and there is one of every conceivable bass rig widely available to choose from so i guess the rigs you dont use you could fashion into a giant raft or treehouse or something
 15.
Not my teacup at all, but it still annoys me why it has to sound like a club remix from the off. If it sounded like a real, organic breathing band behind her it would be ten times better. IMHO if course.
and again plus one - i like it but would prefer it without the contemporary club remixiness - wonder what a 'funkin for the thrill' style remix of this would sound like
 16.
Interesting question! I am actually more of a "rhythm" bass player. I don't often think in terms of melody or harmony, unless there is a string melody already there and I want to counter it... I stick with the what the drummer is playing to a far greater degree, which kind of limits me but also frees me. It's amazing what you can accomplish in terms of syncopation by NOT playing on certain beats or notes. That is what makes the track live and breathe IMO. It also gives the more melodic instruments more options...
this but the tricky part is trying to be diplomatic and persuading the guitarer that they too can underplay and see how much more the song benefits overall
 17. The domain is now unavailable Watch this space for an unacannily similar new domain name coming to an interewebs near you soon!! and I bet you your favourite brand of G string it's registered in south america :-)
 18. has he done 'IT' yet?
 19. cool i thought so mine must have been a later version and it weighed a bloody ton but worth the struggle for anyone thinking of being tempted towards a TRB ... if youve never heard the tone from the piezo's under the saddles on these beauties then give it a try and you will definitley buy!!!
 20.
Like simwells says, there's no rules. However, Shep's blog might be of interest to you... http://www.sheponbas...l-chain-bassics
ta never mind the effects im distracted by the music page now
 21.
But it could be:
they probably wouldnt go for it - would be a bugger to lip sync
 22. concentrate on hitting the groove with the drummist but the real tricky part is trying to put on a display of genuine concerned interest with whatever the guitarer is widdling away at (whilst actually remaining totally oblivious of course)
 23. not being much of an effects user was just wondering is there any unwritten rules about what orders to put stuff in the effects chain ie distortion before chorus/flange or compressors before everything or distortion always at end of chain etceteraa etceteraaa or is it all a matter of personal preference?
