Hmmm.... interesting theory - might be that having two X chromosomes is incompatible with slapping
BASSIDA

Audition Cancelled / Force Majeure ....
steve-bbb replied to BassPimp66's topic in General Discussion
OK, the story is as follow. I hook up with a group of musicians and for couple of weeks we tried to put a date in the calendar to audition me. After a few attempts, we locked a slot. The evening before I confirmed I would be attending the audition on the next day. Then, I got a call from my pregnant wife who told me she was going early into to labor. I spent a sleepless night at the hospital and witnessed the birth of my baby girl in the early hours of the morning. While my looking after my wife, I called the guy I arranged the audition with to cancel, explaining the Force Majeure. Now, it's been a week and they are ignoring my attempts to reconnect and put a new date in the calendar. I think I've been marked as unreliable... come on! Anyone with similar experiences?
screw them - theyve obviously got no sense of priorities and cant see further than the end of their noses congrats on the new arrival and hope another band comes your way soon -
I was just having fun with these guys.
its been deleted??

when im feeling really evil i like to go into music shops and try basses and play them really badly like plonk plunk plunk pink oops buzz plink plink rattle and like try and slap a bit but do it purposely really badly if i get the (saving himself for lara croft) rock super-hero type response from shop assistant AND i can keep a straight face i will try and ask a really dumb question or two just for the coupe de grace edit - oops sorry forgot ... and to keep in with the OPs theme ... i will then offer the shop assistant part-time rock superhero my verdict after reviewing said instrument
Whats wrong with listening to the record and figuring it out for yourself? I don't think I've ever used tabs to learn a song and as a dep for function bands I've often had to learn 20 or more in a week! Improves your listening skills no end if you can listen to a tune once or twice and figure it out... One of the guitards I know used to send me tabs for songs all the time, usually I can tell they are wrong within one listen - who writes these things!?
this plus youve also got various bits of free software that you can even EQ stuff out and change tempo without changing pitch there was no such thing as audacity when i were a lad - we had to keep lifting the arm up on the record and dropping it back down have you ever looked at some of the tabs on songsterr(+) (rhetorical question) if you havent then id suggest dont bother theyre shoite

Can anyone recommend a courier to move a VERY large cab?
steve-bbb replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
i used UKMail to collect my cab and head from oop north total aout 45-48kg ish think it was about 35 ex vat quid but cant remember exactly to be sure but id be surprised if it would be much more than 60 quid for a 55kg package - 55kg shouldnt be a problem as they charge by volumetric weight and there is stepped premium increase for extra insurance levels to your requirements -
ive used briwax brand- it is beeswax mixed with solvents to make it 'spreadable' (used to be toluene but think its been replaced by something less noxious these days) it soaks into raw wood very fast and will polish up nice and shiney once the wax has settled and hardened
What a delightful part of the M25 this is! I've often thought how nice it would be to spend a couple of hours enjoying that two mile stretch by Leatherhead, especially instead of attending one of those boring bass bashes...
likewise - sadly i wont be able to grace you with my feline ginger charms (nor my stone-clad TRB) as i heard the travel news on the wireless and turned the motor vehicle around at the next junction but hope it all goes thumpingly well for everybody who does make it

9 volt batteries, where to get good value.
steve-bbb replied to steve-soar's topic in General Discussion
I thought that. Perhaps it powers a small radio, or an alarm clock.
or maybe one of those zapper thingies like those controversial dog collars that gives you a wee zap when you play a bum note -
apologies for late posting but just about to travel over from medway towns area if anybody might be looking for transport give me quick PM

its sort of anchored but floats around position wise depending where im plucking the sting for whatever tonal nuance i wish to achieve (my tone pot tends to stay fully open in fact it might well as not be there at all) and then occasionally my thumb will come away from its anchor completely but mostly for various ppp soft tones otherwise it is anchored on the top of either pickup or sometimes on the top edge of the very end of the fretboard edit - i tried anchoring my thumb with a pick the other day but it almost dislocated itself in horror!!
FWIW the address given is used by several companies and is likely to be the office of an accountant or solicitor. There's nothing wrong with this, it's quite often done by very small companies that don't have their own office premises. There's a company registration for IMD Trading Ltd, which is the legitimate company that trades bathroom fittings on eBay. One of the previous names they used was IMD Digital, but they changed it in Nov 2011. The website, as we were told in post #15, had nothing to do with the owners of IMD Trading or IMD Digital. By the look of the classified ads so called IMD_Digital is posting all over the world, they're targeting people outside the UK who wouldn't find it so easy to check up on them.
plenty of yin and not much yang one section of polyrhythmic cacophony going into another and then another just doesnt really take me anywhere - the first section up to 1:40 ish was listenable and getting there but then it sort of disintegrated completely before coming back into some sort of disordered order
