8.
Glad to hear some support for 'Tormato'! Don't know why it gets such a bad press. I even love the cover - lovely 70's piece. Granted, 'Circus Of Heaven' is a bit lame, but the rest is great. Even Wakemans's piercing synths have their place! Full marks for the band for not just repeating themselves. Got to say it (maybe we should have a poll!), my favourite is 'Relayer'....but anything from their debut to 'Drama' works for me. I think a big part of Yes' golden period was the magic of Eddie Offord. He gives the music such space to breathe - and Squire's bass in particular. Can you imagine if those albums were made today? I bet you'd barely hear the bass parts within the compressed wall of sound!
well in a recent interview mr squire explained how the bass was so muchg higher up in the mix than expected due to a dodgy pair of headphones in the studio - it all came out with the bass in your face but the effect was pleasant so they stuck with it
  9. i was brought up on close to the edge and fragile but i absolutley love drama but not the drama line up - saw them live on the drama tour - was ok but it wasnt yes it was more like the chris squire show with added backing band
  10. yes it s a bit lame i guess but it was merely to shgow him in plain clothes lol his cross dressing manga pop videos have much better bass playing imho

  14. marvellous i got some plain bog standard rotos for a tenner as im a bit strapped on jobseekers and couldnt justify 20 for the swingbass on th eplus side though in my more senior years i dont sdeem to suffer from the sweaty greasy hand syndrome of my mispent youth so they do tend to last a lot longer anyways <3 5678s

    DI Box

good evening fellow basschatters has anybody any experience of homebuild DIY stuff specifically DI box job seekers allowance being not much to live it is a bit difficult to justify the GAS at the moment so was wondering about the cost of a DIY build against a straightforward purchase ive seen passive boxes in the 25-30 pound range and wondered if it was possible to put them together for less than this - as passive DI circuit only contains a transformer and a couple of components (not sure what spec the transformer is tho- have had a wee look online (sowter) and decent audio transformers seem to range anywhere between 20-80+ pounds any electronics boffins any clues to help out please

  19.
I think Steinberger headless basses will soon be making a comeback worn right up under your chin. The sleeves of your jacket rolled up obligatory (mullet optional).
thank goodness... am having a hell of a job trying to find a decent mullet wig

  22. nicely saved up for the coda at 2:30 edit
Root/ Octave is a secret amongst this sect of musicians known as bassists. Please stop publishing one of our few weapons that others cannot replicate with the same degree of slinkiness.
...although its not on the studio version, on this live version you can hear the guitarist trying to muscle in on the octaves at the end
