Sort of attractive in a wierd way... like christina aguilera... you know it's wrong but you can't stop staring.
Not sure I agree with CA thing I find her goergeous...... Back to the Leah, I've seen the geetars in the flesh and they dont look lewd at all, for once the pics dont do them justice...... Not my taste and I wont be buying one, however they are very nicely made and look pretty darn good up close..
 2.
I think ive already said this but it looks whiter in the pics (evne mine) than it does in real life. Im used to it now and it does seem to depend on the type of lighting but yes, it does look and play very nicely. Your already second dib's im afraid. It will be at least a year before i move this on though.
2nd already....... Oh well... try a new full set of chromes 40-135 they sound
 3.
Or would I be wasting my time with something that won't get me a better sound than I already have?
Only you know the answer to this question and FWIW I would add this little bit, a chunk of your decision making should revolve around the sound you want to produce. As has been pointed out above you CAN replicate a good facsimilie of a valve sound with solid state, but somehow its just not the same......it doesn't feel the same and doesn't sound the same. In a preverse way, with valves you become attached to playing to get the best tone from your set up (bass and amp), well I have anyway. You need to try one or two to see what is meant, but dont get one for the sake of it.... Me? I use a hybrid (Mesa walkabout) so, valve pre-stage through MOSFET power stage. I love it....... That being said my guitarist plays thru a 30yr old pure valve amp, so maybe I've just got used to it or am brainwashed.....
 4.
I'm also interested in replacing the pick ups on my P Bass as it's a very cheap fender copy (Only cost £50 on ebay but it seems OK to me) and I'm told that an upgrade will improve the sound. Hoever, given that funds are limited, what would be a good but fairly cheap replacement for my existing ones. Pete Cumbria
Pete, As this is an upgrade and your P is working OK for the time being, ( I understand about not shellig out loads!) keep looking in the for sale ads below, P pups come up regularly..... US Fender OEM pups will be better than you have or a 2nd hand set of SDs as above, 1/4 pounders are really fat and loud but there are esveral other SD options as well that will make a huge difference to your current set up..... How does that sound?
 5. Hummm never thought I'd hear myself saying this but thats a nice WHITE bass...... D, keep it nice and I'll have 1st dibs, if you do think of moving it on.....
 6. 7.
My parents have a dining table set made from ancient swamp kauri that cost them about a thousand quid.
Do you think they'd miss a PRS neck sized sliver missing from one side of it.....?
 8.
should have dropped me a line Bob, I would have popped over as well
CK, I thought I'd be on a really tight schedule but as it was I had an hr free, yep it wouldve been great to see some other friendlies..... Hell who knows I may have to 'pop' down again soon......
 9. Proper tech question that so off you go......
 10. Yesterday was a great day for me.... took day off work to go to London to pick up a new toy from a fellow BCer, completely out the blue Tuesady afternoon I was contacted by another BCer who wanted one that I had for sale and wanted it..... Met up with BCer #1 at Kings X and did the deed with bass one, and put a huge grin on his face..... (thanks again Marc!) and then off to the Bass gallery to meet up for the other deal (again thanks Gareth!).... Well I've now met two more BCers that are thoroughly decent folks amd the type of peeps that if we'd had more time I would like to sit and talk b8ll8x about basses and music with all day, AND got two bass transactions fullfilled that I'm very satisfied with.... To top that I had about an hour waffling with with Al at Bass Gallery about EUBs ( I still havent got enough confidence to take the plunge.....yet!) and he is very accomodating, and again I reitterate what a great place for a bass player to go! to top that when I got home a part I have been waiting for, for my Jeep was there so I can get that mended..... Whilst I'm not above using pubic ( )transport I find it very hard having a vehicle stood that I cannot use because its thrown its teddies out the pram because of a £30 part..... All in all went to bed throughly pleased last night.....
 11.
I'm sure this is a great bass and the seller looks good, but isn't this a somewhat optimistic starting price/BIN?
I never really looked that hard at these before but I can now see what the fuss is about, that is beautiful.... Worth £3.5k? I guess so to someone.... Maybe its because they are hard to obtain and with a (potentially) shakey future that this one sold for so much....? Similar thing has happened in the shooting world, a Large swedish rifle maker has stopped making a model of rifle that was popular (ish) model, and re-vamped it for teh US market (read dumbed down..... ) and now they are sellig for silly money in Europe, I have twice now been offered more than I paid for mine new 4 yrs ago...... Just because folks dont like the new one.... Similar thing?
 12.
[bump] Reasonable offers considered.
Straight swap for tale telling grandpa and 10 yr old collie dog with no vices? PLease?
 13. Chris seems like teh love is still out there for the Fender machine, despite teh 'recession'
 14. SD, Barts, Schaller or Wizard..... tried 'em all... there are all better than std.....
 15. CanI have the iPhoto and OSX10.3 restore disk please? Bob.
 16. No as sadly I dont own any Warwicks (BTW that doesnt mean I wont at some point!) But I'm surprised you cant get the washers...... Could you try and source then from somewhere else? what size are they?
 17. Get no arguments from here...... Nice looking piece of kit...... (athough I'm biased as I love a nice bit of Swampy..... )
 18.
I had one like this. I watched my Luthier do it once. He took the neck off, with the strings still wound on They were loosened off but not right off the capstans, He just flipped it over, took the neck screws out enough to disengage the neck heel, "cocked" the neck so the adjuster was accessible at the beck of the body, tweaked it just the right amount, put it back in and tightened the screws and strings .. Took about 4 minutes ...
Thats great when you are experienced and confident, and yes I do my guitarists fenders (strat and tele) like that (bloody things always seem to need tweaking one way or another very time we change strings) BUT I'm not sure it wise to advocate a noob trying this first time...... Unless I'm missing something....?
 19. I have just concluded a quite expensive and time consuming transaction with this gent ...... I dont use that word lightly, a nicer and more genuine person you will struggle to come across. Thank you Gareth!
 20. Top bloke and I would have NO hesitation in recommending him...... Thanks Marc!
 21.
bassassin is the guy for japcrap, BigRedX is the guy for weird and wonderful
OMG we're all falling into little niche areas.....
 22.
Was just wondering outa curiosity...what do you gain from having a fretless bass? Or a headless? (Apart from looking good) Another one....how loud can acousto-electrics go? A third random question!...How does the sounds change as the neck scale increases/decreases? This is mainly because I'm wanting to get another bass somewhen soon...when money appears....and wanted it to be 'different' Is it true that red basses make you play faster? And finaly...how are you today?
1. More GAS and lotsa strings..... Lots more GAS 2. as loud as your amp of course..... duh. 3. if youve got a scaly neck, i wouldnt be worried about how it sounds I suggest you get to the doctor.... 4. if you want to be different play drums, most drummers I've met aren't human 5. red basses only make you play faster if teh red is yoru ownblood and you want ot get the set done so that you can get stiches.... 6. I'm +++kin ace, I've just won my 1st table tennis match after a 30 year break.....
 23. Top bannana..... Great to do business with.... Bob.
 24. Aaaaahhh this topic has been covered before I'm sure but teh ones with holes in are slightly different make, IIRC sourced out parts but Shergold designed..... IMO still worth £250 if its in good knick and yo like that 'retro' thing..... .
