1.
Thanks Crazykiwi and Yorick. Im going to give it a bit more time for a reply, but if I get no joy i'll definately take help! Burpster - There are 2 smaller cracks from the 1st and 2nd peg, which dont show up on camera unfortunately. Is kinda annoying as it is a new bass and it was fine when shipped, so im guessing the pegs are screwed on too tight maybe or the wood isnt seasoned properly? My other Sandberg has done me well for many years so i'm pretty confident on the quality of them, I mustve just got a duff one haha
1 Crack would suggest overtightening but several suggests poor wood selection to me as you guessed. My mate had the same problem with a Gibson LP guitar.... They fell overthemselves to replace it and the finish on the body at neck joint cracked on it.... It was at this juncture (about 8 yrs ago) he told Gibbo to "go do one" and got his 1st PRS..... Needless to say he has more than one now....! I would hope S-berg would be more than happy to change this, as bad press isn't something they would solicit.... is it?
2. I'll tell you its nice if you like...... I'll also tell you its not a patch on my HW-1 P........ Which incidentally WILL be looking for a new home as PRS No.3 is now a reality and is goin' to get a full Bob job!... B
3. Is that the only one and is it on the other side too? Thats not very good for a new bass.
4.
It's all hypothetical. This bass isn't designed to be played!
Which one....?!
5. Repair and tech for you..!
6. +1 Black.... only way to go
7.
Intentional?
Wot mi?
8. they both have ceramic magnets and are both wound with point 5 gage wire. I beileve it'd make me gag if I'd been wound with point 5 wire..... I guess the poor chap could be dyslexic, and sadly there is no spell checker included in ebay listing...... Nice bas tho' if a bit expensive!
9. Guys, I think you are taking their ebay name a bit literal.... City bid is an auction house.... they will get allsorts of peeps bringing stuff in to auction off by whatever means will bring teh best return for teh company. If thier primary client group is not musos then they would be right to suggest to thier client that they try to sell on gleebay. Judging by the new Yamaha kit they are selling I would suggets that this is a bankrupt shop stock clearance or police seized property that has not been reclaimed. Or indeed insurance company property that they have paid out on as part of a claim . I would doubt very much that it was lost property and would be alomst 100% sure its not hot property as this would destroy the companies business profile and reputation which for auctioneers is pretty damn important.
10. I agree, I have GHS nylons on mine (Ovation Viper) and it has a superb EUB-alike sound... I believe Mic the OP wants someting brite tho' as he describes his as sounding "dull and 5hite" normally thats said by folks who like a brite sound... My guitarist says those exact same words.....
11. I have a set of Adams (Ovation) phospur bronzes for mine that are huge and very brite..... teh same strings on my mates adamas (6 string ) sound fantastic and last really well..... I can let you know where to get them (by PM) if you fancy trying them....
12.
I'll take your word for it
Phewwww thanks, the thought af a busted nut was weighing heavily on my mind..... Actually pit a brass nut on and you can kinda do what you like with the strings, however breaking them away at odd angles will wear assymetric slots in the nut and make the above problems prevalent...... As an aside if you bend your notes a lot you will do untold damage to the nut with a lateral break angle, and a plastic/ carbon /bone nut.
13.
Take your word for it. When I got my ultralights they come in 1/2 and 3/8 inch sizes.
Your both kinda correct, the traditional sizes for US basses (the US has never been very good at accepting metric anything) was indeed 3/8 + 1/2... I'll believe you'll find that Schallers are a metric equivalent and indeed the required bore sizes are 12mm and 17mm..... If you want /need trad US sizes, your better off with an American make replacement, Gotoh or Hipshot still work in US AF sizes..... Bless 'em....
14. Thats a beaut juice........ Looks like we have ourselves a little club going here!
15. It puts (a lot) less strain on the nut and provides a constant break angle which we all know provides less string intonation/ tuning / breakdown problems.... Thats why so many designers go to quiite a bit of trouble to get the strings lined up without infringing someone elses headstock shape and hence patent..... Stringing like that method above is asking (no begging) to break a nut..... Be my guest try it......
16. Thanks C I'd seen that one.... it went a few months ago..... cant be the only one on here surely....?
17. Anybody actually own one? Do they have any vices? I'm getting severe GAS for one..... not sure why but hey who said love was easy?
18. 'Might not be working right' is not a very precise description to work from..... could your mate be more specific? That would help you and us to sort it if indeed there is a problem
19.
always try and loosen first
That is actually very GOOD advice. FWIW if I am working on any guitar I havent played with before, i mark the t-rod bolt (or nut) with a fine feltip pen in a line onto the wood. and loosen it at least 1/4 turn before going any tighter..... My advice is as you havent worked on this bass before, TAKE THE NECK OFF for this first tweak and make sure the bolt/nut is not seized..... Hearing a grunching noise or loud PING is not something I would like to hear or in your case your mate will thank you for!
20. ALL black hardware looks great I love it..... What I dont like is makers that mix bits of chrome and black or mix any colors for that matter (even my PRSs suffer that from new... ) IMHO I cant wait to see your 'vette pimped.... I must say I did have a chuckle to myself when I saw the title, for a second I was expecting a 1967 drophead chrome bumper Corvette stingray....
21.
Very nice - but what's going on with the stringing at the headstock?
Good point and well noticed...... obviously being sensible or wise enough to string a bass properly or indeed as it was designed or intended, is not pre-requisit of those having enough money to buy very nice gear ...... Either that or someone was powdering their nose at the time they were stringing it...... Shhheeeeesh you cant trust some folks to sit the right way on a toilet seat can you.......
22. ME........ I'm 100% happy with what I've got...... Might be a small change of staff on the horizon but only for more of what I already have.
23.
Ooh that's dirty!!! PRS should bring out that bass in their SE range, I loved the J electronics meets 'Ray body vibe, but not the price.
Agreed 100% I have been constantly nagging both the UK importer and Stevensville to do an SE bass..... it would be easier beating myself to death with a lettuce leaf..... And whilst you say you dont like the price, they are not as dear as you might think (although buying a new one in teh UK when they were available was quite expensive) there is currently a nice 2001 EB IV on thatbay for $1100 ........ A bargain if you are prepared to take a bit of a gamble buying from the US .....
24. Despite not being a fan of Cherry red tanslucent, I have just had an embarassing but not entirely unpleasent miss-hap in my undergarments! Very nice pics...... Wanna spill the beans on who's collection this baby sits in? I like to keep tabs on my 2's brothers.......
25. I'll have the 3 Fender books if you PM me your email addy I'll PP you or PM your addy for a vcheque if thsts your preferance.....
